My two criticisms are:

1. You are making a series of comments about the Universal development in Bedford which are entirely ignorant of the facts. Many of us who have participated in this thread for the last two years have followed the matter very closely, and it is frustrating when somebody jumps in and makes a series of nonsense remarks. It would be better if you read this thread from the beginning to see how much detailed progress has been made by Universal, the local councils and the national government. This project has already been announced by the British Prime Minister and the President of UDX. Preparatory groundworks have already started. Universal has already committed billions of dollars to this project. Initial design work has been completed, and the creative team for the new park are already being recruited. This thing is happening, you need to accept that.

2. My second criticism is that it takes a special kind of arrogance from a Port Aventura fan boy to think they know how to run a multi-billion dollar theme park business better than Universal does. There's a long list of reasons that Universal decided it would be better to create their first European park in Bedford rather than try to fix a substandard park in Tarragona. For the foreseeable future Universal is not coming to Spain, you need to accept that. If you really want to discuss why Universal doesn't want to buy Port Aventura you should take those comments to the relevant thread. Continuing to post your Port Aventura comments in this thread shows a significant lack of respect to the participants in this thread.

So I repeat, ¡Ya basta! Please.

Mis dos críticas son:

I don’t think there was ever any doubt that this would be approved by way of a Special Development Order. Universal has worked hand-in-hand with local and central government (the current government and the previous government) to develop their proposals, so when it came to the point in the process when the legislative niceties needed to be completed the planning application was already in state where it needed no more than a few tweaks. The reality is that work started on the site months go, and the project has already been announced by the Prime Minister and the CEO of UDX in No.10 itself. There was zero chance that the Planning and Housing Minister was going to reject the planning application after all that work. So a you say, everything progressing seamlessly, largely according to timetable.

I went to bed last night feeling we might get something today and they've only gone and approved it. Great stuff.

It's been almost 2 years to the day since @Alicia dropped that amazing Theme Park Stop video that sent the Theme Park world upside down (especially here in the UK) and now it's finally got full approval. Boy have we been on a journey, we've debated and argued and come up with speculation and potential plans and spent days analysing the smallest of details and it's been great fun doing it with you all.

Now, it begins, and I for one intend to be here every step of the way.

Well that's my afternoon covered.

*edit* Seems the construction village can officially begin 'construction' tomorrow.

In section 12 of that document where they talk about the grand opening it states they will have capacity for 8.5 million visitors within the first 12 months, this seems to be listed as a condition of opening as well.

So god knows what they’re building that we haven’t seen because Tommy said it looked nowhere near that.

This is an explanatory note regarding the Statutory Instrument. It's for legislative geeks only:

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM TO THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING (ENTERTAINMENT RESORT COMPLEX, BEDFORD) SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT (NO. 2) ORDER 2025

It appears that an earlier version of the Statutory Instrument was prepared but was found to be defective due to a number of minor errors and typos, which is why the is Special Development (No.2) Order. The delay in preparing the updated and corrected SI might explain why Mohammad Yasin said this would be finalised at the beginning of the month, but has only just squeezed before the Christmas recess.

Although worth pointing out that the SI doesn't specify that those 8.5 million people can't all spend 12 hours in an attraction queue...

I think Universal may have rejigged their plans when they realised Epic had a capacity problem and would want to avoid that issue with UGB. Especially as there's no other Universal Parks to sate the demand over here, so it'll likely be max capacity alot of the time.

Hope so. I appreciate that the Universal UK artwork when it was first announced was not the detailed and final plans for the park, but my general impression was that it looked a little bit lightweight for opening day. And that was before Epic settled in to its first summer of operation.
