The food preview looked good, a nicer variety than I recall from last year. Hoping the items survive the transition from preview food to actual mass produced park food mostly intact, there were a few casualties last year. Felt like the Horror Night food stepped it up last year so I'm optimistic that Fan Fest can too!

Was it apparent how the crowd flow is handled through the Monsters area when combined with the experience and the need for guests to get pictures?

Also, how was the One Piece burger?

Plaza is now being set up for FFN, as work is wrapping up on One Piece: Grand Pirate Gathering. Alongside that, it seems the area for Sailor Moon is also being prepped for the M&G.

If its a DJ.......better then nothing but live music for the Win. I wish USH saw the value in Live music...people crap on Disney for cutting things but they still have live bands in the parks every day in some form and during events have extra bands come in and play

I heard from FiveFires (creator who got invited to the media event) that some if not most of the UPPER LOT food will be available during the day as well. Lower lot is event only.

Makes sense I know some want things to be all exclusive but USH needs as much money and guests as it can get right now.

The Scooby Snacks should sell very well and no idea how these deals work...but if we could get a Scooby Cart after this that would be really cool the treats would be easy to keep in stock and sure Popcorn buckets like one shaped like the Mystery Inc Van would sell out

I think some history is important for context. This whole area was destroyed in the 1967 fire on the backlot, and part of it burned again in the 1987 fire. The cobblestone street survived, and some of the buildings, including most of the Court of Miracles were rebuilt in the same footprint after the '67 fire. Ironically, the fountain survived both fires and I believe it is the same fountain that you can see in the courtyard today. Last time I was back there it was tucked away behind some of the buildings.

In a lot of the monster films like Frankenstein (and also Bride of, Son of, House of, and Invisible Man) they often used the larger village set that was actually behind the current Court of Miracles which extended more or less back to River Road, about where the current prop house is located. That entire area was unfortunately lost in that fire and now is lost to backlot changes and time. It's difficult to pinpoint what was shot where, because they weren't exactly documenting the sets and filmmaking process back in the 30's and 40's. Typically, any outdoor village shots are back in this area.

As for the Court of Miracles itself, the most recognizable monster film that utilized that area would be 1941's The Wolf Man. Lon Chaney Jr spends quite a bit of time there. Worth a watch/re-watch! Maria Ouspenskaya is great in it.

Frankenstein [Feature Film]


Many of the exteriors of the village were shot on the Little Europe sets at Universal, including the Court of Miracles {The townspeople of Goldstadt celebrated the wedding of Henry Frankenstein to Elizabeth in this square. ). However, they're not the same sets that can be seen today - all of todays Little Europe was built in 1967 after a huge fire destroyed the vintage sets.
