Fan's want other IP's outside of what Universal and use easily

Not saying the current offering won't make people happy but if tickets aren't selling then things like Demon Hunters, Pokemon/Nintendo (outside of Yoshi.....Kirby, Animal crossing, Zelda), Fortnite (yeah yeah rumors for HHN but this event is perfect for it), Fallout (It was at HHN but this is again a more perfect place for that IP), Minecraft, my hero academia, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (its newer but the base is growing super quickly), and Dragonball Z, avatar the Last air bender, TMNT, Sonic the Hedgehog (movies or games)

We also have IPs they do have the rights to just missing like Wicked and Hello Kitty (they have a ton of other characters and I've seen the costumes come to the other cafes)

Once again, I'm going and will have a good time but doesn't mean much if normal people aren't interested in the current offering. Nintendo would be you think the easiest win, either via other IPs or even just characters like Bowser that people want to see and Pokemon would just kill it. If you made the Plaza into Pokemon Plaza, with live music and a dance show, with meet and greets and food booths I think that would be a hugeeeee hit and draw in a ton of people without too much money or effort. But seeing them dropping the season pass price and the 40 dollar Ap tickets doesn't seem like the best sign to me, along from just talking to people who say it sounds cool but not sure if its worth the money because of so many repeating IPs

What do you think would draw more people?

Yeah listing some of the biggest IPs....and I do like a lot of them because I like good media. There are a ton I left off like Godzilla, Sony Games, Xbox Games, Dreamworks/Illumination, Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Ted (the teddy bear), Fast and Furious, The Mummy, ET, and will throw Warcraft in there since they made the movie as well.

The list of IPs I don't care for would be much shorter then the list of things I enjoy. (literally looking at all the IPs I listed.....F&F is the only IP, I don't really care for I listed...the rest I enjoy)

I can't win, we have wanting signs the event is not selling enough tickets. I suggest they listen to fans and people get upset when I list hot IP,s I think could bring more people into the event. Cool

It's not your job to sell Fan Fest tickets! Even if it was, it's far too late to just add another IP! This isn't a Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 sand box -- you have no idea how any of this works!

And you need to stop saying they need to "listen to fans." As we've just pointed out, we aren't talking about fans, we're talking about you. Enough.

You can’t win because you refuse to read and take in new information. I asked what fans you’re talking about, and instead of answering my direct question you revealed what we all already know: you’re just talking about what you want.

You’re welcome to talk about what you want to see at the event! But I’m tired of you acting like your personal desires speak for all fans.

The Millions of people who support the IPs I listed

I literally like most media, so to say I'm putting only things I want to see is BS. Sorry I like Pokemon and Nintendo

I also listed TMNT, Avatar, Sonic, Hello Kitty and Wicked....are you guys trying to say these other IPs don't have fandom's who would pay to come to this event?

Getting IPs for a fledgling event like this is hard enough, too. Licensing costs are high, and as hot as, say, KPop Demon Hunters is as an IP, the costs to get it in the park (especially now as an Oscar winner) may just not be financially feasible for an event in its sophomore year still finding its footing.

It’s easy to say “Universal is dumb for not having this, this, and this IP” at the event, but if they tried to have KPop, Godzilla, and more Nintendo, the costs alone to make that happen wouldn’t even be feasible, and that’s IF — a big IF — the rights holders would even want to play ball in the first place.

I know people are tired of me saying this but also I just wish they could explain the marketing on this event and why so many things are close to the vest

Like for a great example, why not make a mini Trailer for Sailor moon saying the show is coming then show someone in costume as her (it can be in the shadows and just see the outline of her) but only people like us know she is getting a meet and greet and I think there are insane fans that would travel...but most people can't just drop everything and go when they see a video in 4 weeks..I just wish I understood why every day there is not a short coming out hyping the event out and showing off whats coming.....because the last week or two they will be dropping the merch and food so now is the perfect time to be hyping up the meet and greets, Jurassic attraction, Scooby doo and so on.

I 100% agree. Me and the person I went with last year want to go again this year, but they are really scared this year is going to be mediocre. Nothing they've announced interests them, and it bums me out because Jurassic Park would be hype for them... but they haven't announced anything!

HHN marketing works because there is already a dedicated fanbase who is going regardless; FFN does not that luxury ESPECIALLY when you're going to recycle IP. TWD venue being canned probably is the reason they're so hesitant to announce anything but this is only the SECOND year, you cannot treat it like HHN and then not deliver HHN budgets (I'm mostly referring to repeat IPs).

I'm sure this year is going to be good, but they need to get their act together on the marketing.

(I'm hearing...rumors because of legal reasons Jurassic can't be used in advertising, no idea if this is true but I've heard it and other "influencers" keep saying it won't ever be announced...which might be there way of saying they've heard it to)

But agree, HHN has the Halloween and Horror base, plus then you get IPs like FNAF, Stranger Things or last of us and you can draw in many who just love those IPs and come in for those

This event, I feel like every day we should be seeing some new short on Youtube/Instgram/Tik Tok talking about a different part of the event and then once we see food and merch, have a short every day showing off each different IP. But for what ever reason that is not the strategy and hope what ever previews the influencers see, gets people more invested.

I truly think One Piece and Scooby Doo are going to be really amazing and do well once the event starts. I assume HP will also do pretty well and Jurassic will get lots of cool videos out...after the event starts because the actors are super fun and its a mini BTTF attraction. So hoping it does well enough for year 3 and beyond

Jeez dude

This year feels like it's had a lot of BTS drama; I'm not an insider or influencer but that's what I personally am inferring. Once again this isn't me saying that this year is going to be horrible and we're all doomed, but yknow. Year three hopefully has some good stuff...

Oppenheimer fan zone all I'm going to say (/j)

@Jerroddragon

We’ve gone over this before, time and time again. Please stop framing your opinions as “what fans want” or as an objective fact.

Share your perspective as your own and engage in good faith with your responses instead of just "LOL"ing them away. Repeating it as a consensus isn’t productive. Continued behavior like this will lead us to take moderator action. Consider this your warning.

I think this sort of suggests something you keep overlooking when it comes to IPs and Fan Fest: The fact HHN has been around for 30 years. It's established. It can get those IPs because it's cultivated its base and grown in size and popularity in a way it can attract (and afford) those IPs to the event. If you go back and look at when it came back in 1997, it was a couple original houses with Tales from the Crypt, Bill and Ted, and Chucky thrown in (Beetlejuice had its regular daytime show open, so I'm not counting it).

1998 wasn't much bigger. 1999, okay, you start including the Mummy, you start attracting names like Rob Zombie and Clive Barker. 2000, you start getting stuff like Buffy. But it wasn't until the late 2000s that you could start getting stuff like Freddy and Jason and Michael and Saw at the event, and that was only possible because that fledgling little "low budget" (comparatively) event came back year after year, establishing itself, expanding bit by bit.

FFN is in its second year. Its budget is much lower compared to HHN. Its brand isn't established as some sure-fire event. Heck, FFN has more IPs than HHN did in its first few years, and that's lucky. But Universal simply can't throw millions at an event that's still in its infancy to get IPs whose cost outweighs budget, as easy as you might think it is and how dumb you think Universal is not for doing so.

It's going to take time and patience. If this was 1998, you'd be going, "Why isn't Universal bringing Jason and Leatherface and all these characters to HHN? Do they want to fail and not appeal to millions of fans?" But with time, Universal was able to do just that.

In ten years, so long as they keep trying with FFN, who knows, it could be a big enough event where they're able to afford all these incredible IPs, just like HHN was eventually able to, and we'll all look back at these earlier years as being so quaint. But arguing with people because it's not the event you want exactly how you want it amounts to nothing; all you can do is go, support the event, and encourage your friends and family to go because that's what actually paves the road for what you envision the event could possibly look like down the road.

Agreed it will need time to grow but also HHN has the advantage of being horror/halloween themed as well meaning millions of people just come because of that. Doesn't even matter whats there its something spooky to do

Fan Fest Nights, doesn't get that boost so you would want to put as many of the Biggest IP based on how big they are in in along with IPs you can't get most days.
What hurts this event as well is how unique some of it is like BTTF was the VIP of last year...everyone when they talk about fan fest this is the first thing they talk about and it can't come back. So that makes it hard for them to build on when the most liked part can't come back

I hope in the future if they are sending out surveys they are just more listening to the feedback and if they can't it sucks and hope they can shape those to push people in the direct of IPs they can bring to the park and see what people want next more

I believe even you said, you might not come this year because of the offering...so yeah this is kind of what I'm talking about if the people on here aren't all going then....just not a great sign when your biggest fans aren't all celebrating this event

Question--have seen confliction and heard elements of debate on whether this will be open-ended or a contained walkthrough experience. Has Universal given you guys anything to determine on if it's more akin to BTTF, or more akin to Terror Tram?

I know this looks like BTTF or Jurassic..but the space...like my guess is maybe there is an area or two that are open...and then to solve the mystery there is like a walkthrough? That or you get X time in each space and then have to move on for the next guests?
