I'll wait, but individual lightning lane has made it difficult for standby guests with some pretty awful ratios.

On the surface level, it's the same because "Pay-per-ride", but it doesn't seem to be enacted the same way from an ops perspective. IDK how much of a problem like LL it will be.

Yes, at the moment it appears to be flexible to adjust to that specific day's attraction reliability (improvement over Disney's), but it's a bit concerning to see based on how Disney's system has impacted the guest experience so far.

Who knows how this will play out, but my first, perhaps unfair, thought is that in these difficult economic times it’s very kind of Universal to help out the competition by eliminating the things that made it more appealing then Disney.

Are park and ride reservations next?

The big difference right now is that it’s limited and only shows up when needed. It’s not something you plan your whole day around like Lightning Lane.

That said, I get the concern. If it becomes more common or turns into a full-day offering, then yeah, I’d agree. Right now it just feels somewhat of a backup option.

And let’s not forget that Universal has essentially always charged for Express. Just because it looks like Disney’s system doesn’t mean it’s a big shift, it’s still very much in line with Universal’s model.

Yes, Universal has always had a number of Express options through the years. But, who the hell would pay $20 for an Express Pass ( imagine a family of four. Yikes T$80) to Yoshii. Gues there's some theme park naive guests out there that the money is fighting to get out of the wallet.

If a guest just wants to do the one ride, then $80 is a lot more palatable than $1000 or so.

You plan a "once in a lifetime" trip to Uni. It's a busy week, so you've been in lines frequently. You keep putting off Hagrid's because the lines will get better right? It's your last day and the line is still 2 hours...

Yes, guests would pay for Hagrid.....but it might never even get offered....My 'yikes' is about paying an atrocious fee for Yoshii, most especially since it will almost always be multiplied by family members.

Express Now utilizes unused Express capacity during specific wait times, hence why the passes have a return time. This isn't really like Lightning Lane.

Yeah I wouldn't either.

But $20 isn't the same to everyone.

Love Individual Lightning Lanes at Disney…love this as well.

You could look at it as cynical and greedy, but the reality is this gives you a chance to get an Express experience without committing to Express dollars. While the benefits for locals/APs is obvious, I think you’d all be surprised how little usage the average Express Pass gets on a given day. You could buy Hagrid’s, Velocicoaster, and Mummy, save a ton of time for the rest of the standby ride queues, and still be ahead most days compared to 2-Park Express.
