Star Wars Shake-Up: Kathleen Kennedy Steps Down as George Lucas Protégé Dave Filoni, Exec Lynwen Brennan Take Over Lucasfilm

The change in leadership may mean a new hope for the storied franchise or it could be an attack of the clones by giving fans more of the same.

James Rolfe gives his thoughts on modern movie theaters.

BTW, anyone else mostly see older movies on theaters? Almost never are they packed and crowded, and on rare occasions I can even have the entire theater to myself.

LA has a strong repertory screening scene and I go frequently but also I'll say that recent releases have been so strong that I've been going to theaters much more frequently.

I Agree on the popcorn, wish it was better and fresher

I don't buy food in theaters but I know its the thing now....but I agree with him on I'd rather them have less and those items improving

I saw Space Jam in Dolby and that was packed, many times older movie I'd want to see are not part of A list...and sorry I'm but I'm not paying more to see older films. It would be like paying more at Netflix for a single film, and its not even new. But when they are free with A list I do try to see them, I saw Rogue one, ET, Jaws in Imax last summer

I have gone to the movies every weekend for the past month and I have loved it.

Obsession
Loved it.

Backrooms
Loved it.

Scary Movie
Only saw this because the wife wanted to see it. I personally think the Wayans bros are severely unfunny, and even worse than that I have some more specific issues with them that veer into political territory. TLDR Not a fan.
I found a way to stay entertained through this one though and had some popcorn and milk duds so can't complain too much.

Disclosure Day
Loved it.

We have a regal in my town and it has been an awful experience ever since covid. When the theater first opened after covid was lifted, I expected it to be clean and orderly since it had been closed for a year and I foolishly thought that meant they had plenty of time to clean before reopening.

Theater smelled like piss and feet. Still does today.

But we have a small little local theater that still does $6 matinees, has better popcorn, and keeps cherry coke (regal has the stupid pepsi deal).

The only negative is since this is a small cheap theater, it pretty much has to only show the "Sure Things" on its 4 screens to make money so it rarely has smaller indy movies and things like that. Luckily the 3 movies I have wanted to see recently they have carried for at least a week.

I do wish there were more options to see older movies on the big screen. In a perfect world my town would have a small theater that ran events similar to places like the Music Box in chicago where they did double features of older classics and stuff like that. Even better if we had a drive-in theater that would do some drive-in classic marathons and stuff.

Give me a Roger Corman triple feature or something. Put on Frankenstein for Halloween. Unfortunately the only Drive-In near me has the same problems as my small local theater in that it pretty much has to constantly play the big money makers to stay open, so if I want to see a drive-in movie it is usually whatever marvel is out, whatever big disney remake is out, and every now and then they will get a good current horror movie if I am lucky.

Sorry for the rant. This thread just has me pining for a better movie going experience.
