We recently saw the Wizard of Oz at the Sphere in Vegas and wanted to give my thoughts. There were some issues that were pretty distracting and hard for me to ignore, but it was a really cool experience and i recommend it if you're in town and a big fan of the movie.

The extra added 4D effects were pretty cool, the tornado scene alone was insane and probably worth the price of admission. The Sphere has the brightest, clearest and most detailed screen I've ever seen and the footage they added to take up the rest of the screen is extremely detailed. The problem with this is they inserted the original characters into this new footage and the difference in quality is so huge that in a lot of parts, the characters looked like they were *on top* of the scene instead of *in* the scene. Issues like these that you wouldnt notice on youtube or your TV really stick out on a giant 16K screen. Also, the fact that like 90% of what you see on screen is newly created, all the background characters they had to add were *VERY CLEARLY* made with AI

I think updating movies for the Sphere with some added effects is a cool concept and hopefully the next movie they decide to do isnt 100 years old. Movies like Star Wars, The Matrix, Spiderman, etc would be really awesome there.

Yeah, my wife saw the show last year and had some of the same thoughts @AvoidTIMtation. She thought, overall, the show had some very cool effects and great scenes but wasn't sure she'd recommend it based on the high price of admission. And then, yeah, there's the AI stuff which is both gross and doesn't look good.

I heard that they cut large parts of the original movie? is it shorter?

and speaking of other movies and directors, I saw that James Cameron has been using AI for restoration/remaster of his 1994 film True Lies and Aliens?
it looked like a lot of true lies had an ai filter to smooth out the skin of actors.
it looked really drastic. looked like a lot of shots were heavily touched up with ai.
I saw videos on YouTube showing the heavy AI on true lies.

I'm surprised James hasn't put his movies in the sphere. I would definitely watch aliens at the sphere
can you imagine.

The sphere version cuts about 20 minutes from the original film.

It sounds cool enough but definitely on the fence at the current price.
