Weaker story than the first one but me and my friend had a blast nonetheless. She even encouraged me to point out anything I notice to her in the movie lol.

DRY BOWSER!!!!!!!!! And I can’t believe I missed Samus’ ship! I also nearly had a heart attack when I thought the Dragon from Odyssey was Ridley because Bowser Jr. made him with the paintbrush so he was purple lol

We had fun with it, and that's all I really wanted from it. It’s wonderfully animated, fast-paced, and packed with nostalgia & fan service. The epitome of junk food cinema. The score was great, too!

The movie just “exists.” It hints at having a story (seemingly centered more on Bowser, with 2nd chances, fatherhood, abandonment, etc), but drops it in favor of moving as quickly as possible. Could've been a nice contrast to the Peach storyline if they had fleshed out both a bit more. Didn't need to be Citizen Kane, but at least have something.

I also wish they hadn't spoiled that one character. What should’ve been a big moment hits different since everyone already knew it was coming.

I saw her ship and was like omg is that Samus!!! When we got home I looked up all the cameos and everything and still haven't seen a single other mention of it, but it seemed clear as day to me.

I also agree, but I also understand why they did it. One of the final trailers (or maybe it was a TV spot, not 100% I'd have to check) accidental spoiled it. There is a 2 second shot where you can clearly see Fox and his iconic blaster on the left side of the screen from the waist down. It went megaviral on TikTok and X. They likely wanted to try and get ahead of it. Whoever cut and approved it probably got an earful.

Having promotional material prepped in advanced isn't proof of intention to reveal Fox before the films release. It simply means they had material prepped for pushing the character, which was always going to happen whether before the film or after release with a marketing push. It's no different than the Thunderbolts/New Avengers marketing scheme that happened after the films release.

And the leaker who leaked the game was the one who said Nintendo was planning on using the film to push the game.

except it does prove that A) there was a concerted effort to hide the character and B) the character leaked early. Why are we acting like these trailer mistakes don't happen all the time? Spiderman for instance (Lizard being punched by nothing), among many many others. And I'm sorry, Mario is a movie skewed toward young children and families. I saw it with someone who didn't even hear about the Star Fox announcement before the movie (and I kept it to myself when I realized). You are making sweeping generalizations. If studios simply announced everything all the time because "word might get out" or word would spread after it released, trailers would simply spoil everything all the time. There is no incentive to hide anything with your reasoning.

And if anyone is curious, it was a TV spot that the image was taken from. It's titled Heroes on Illuminations YouTube, and he is almost not even perceptible unless you slow it down frame by frame because the camera is zooming quickly. He is visible for under half a second at most.
