My thing is if Universal was making classic's that worked as attractions then go for it...but besides their animation and horror (which they only really use for HHN) Universal is making films that don't really translate into theme parks as well as Nintendo or Potter

That is not what the discussion was about…

No one had a problem with adding those rides. You just were arguing in every Hollywood thread that it needed to be done yesterday.

And that Universal was "stupid" for prioritizing a F&F coaster over everything Nintendo.

I think there were legitimate concerns about space as well. We're reaching a point where we have 3 Orlando parks, a possibly totally unique GB park and some elements spread across Asia all competing for representation in a very space limited Hollywood.

Personally, I'd prefer Monsters over Pokemon for Simpsons in Hollywood. Having the castle facade at the top of the hill would be hot.

I mean if USH wants money and guests and that is the goal then yes, I think the better move would to get as much Nintendo now...over years from now.

We can disagree but I don't get how it's smarter to push for a F&F Coaster over Nintendo

Nintendo has over F&F
1) Has a more broad range of fans it will bring in, more kids, more women, and people who grew up with it and are showing it to kids now
2) March, Nintendo Merch costs a good amount and has no discount and still it sells
3) Food/drinks I mean the food and drinks sell out, you can't even walk into Toads most days and even can't get a time on most days if its after noon.
4) USH also can sell a 20, now 30 dollar extra ticket to get in early making more money
5) SNW is the only reason USH has he crowds it has had now and in the past year, they are been stellar so you'd want that to continue and not start adding another ride or land.....5 years from now when it could be being built now.

So yeah, Fans can disagree but if the company is out for money the next move should have been getting to more Nintendo and allowing the two shows to stay and help eat up crowds.

PS Like I said before....I don't want to like argue but if people need me to go back and quote posts from the SNW where people are just plain against Animal Crossing and zelda....I'll do it because there were a ton of people in there who wanted "universal" IPs over anything Potter or Nintendo coming to the parks next

That would be great, I thought when they announced HP land it would be where Minions is so you could see a castle clearly from the Freeway but.....I just don't see them taking out Minions anytime soon. So if we did get a Monsters ride it would be in the lower lot is my guess

I will also be fine if some fans don't want it...but to argue that any IP's will make as much as Zelda, Pokemon, Animal Crossing and more Mario to me....like please back it up because when I go to the parks most the more "current" IP's have one....like one section for say Trolls vs Nintendo which has 1 Citywalk store, 2 Full Nintendo Stores plus the front section of the Studio Store in the park with a whole Nintendo area.

People should know my thoughts at this point, I love Universal but think while they are killing it with all the parks opening up I wish they could move faster at the parks they own to make the changes us guests want and makes money so we can get even more cool things.

Dude I love, and respect your passion for USH. Sometimes though it comes off like you don’t understand that USH has limited space, more time to develop, and less resources than Orlando. I’m not trying to make it an East vs West coast thing, but it’s just a reality.

USH needs a big coaster given Velicoasters popularity in Orlando, so now Hollywood gets its own version. It’s just that simple.

I think the exact point is that we know how you feel. We know you want them to go pedal-to-the-metal on Nintendo. I can't speak for anyone else, but it's been tiresome to see the same points made over and over again. That's what I, personally, find frustrating. I think it's great that you're excited about Nintendo and that you want more of it to come to the parks.

I'm genuinely asking this, if the new coaster doesn't bring in near the crowds as SNW then was it needed?

Like this site Loves coaster's and says they bring people in....looks at Knotts, Six Flags and Sea World so where is the discount when ALL the parks in Southern CA that are focusing on coasters can't compete against USH and Disneyland?

As for they need time and resources time wise, I think part of that would have been if I was in charge I would have pushed this coaster back and next year DK coaster or something else would be opening....so now its going to be 4+ years before we see another Nintendo attraction which to me seems insane considering the money and crowds it brought it
Resources I know they are limited......which is why I suggested just even bring meet and greets, a citywalk restaurant and even a mini event in the Plaza area where Grinchmas is.

Is anything else good at Universal for you that isn’t Nintendo? Nintendo isn’t the single, sole, and only draw.

Part of Universal Studios Hollywood's appeal, as far as I see it, is that it straddles the line between offering great family attractions and more thrilling rides. As such, they're not directly competing with Disneyland nor with Magic Mountain — they're offering experiences both of those audiences want all for one ticket.

And it can't be overstated how important the movie studio heritage is for that park. International tourists are not, by and large, coming because they heard The Revenge of the Mummy is awesome. They're coming because the Studio Tour is a legendary experience.

I think it's reductive to argue, "well this addition will bring the most guests, so it's the one they should do." That's obviously a (big) factor! But there are other things at play, too.

I've had an AP for years

HP land is on par with Disney
Simpsons land, I like the land the ride...is old and if they updated it like Star Tours System I could defend the ride more
Jurassic World - Amazing ride
Mummy - Fun coaster, wish they just updated the effects and upkept the ride
Tram is love hate, I love seeing sets but....when you miss the metro sets/Good place sets most of the other parts are fun but many times they just don't have enough new shows filming to talk about new stuff. Excited about the rumored getting off the tour
Minions is a good ride but the line just always seems to move so slow. Not against it but rather it be a dark ride
SLOP is great, wish it could eat people a little more but it's a great ride, would love to see a holiday version
WaterWorld is a great show and amazing at night time
Dream Works Theater, I just wish we got more shows. Panda is great but after seeing them transformer it for HHN, I'd want to see Bad Guys, Puss in Boots, HTTYD and maybe even trolls

I love HHN and Grinchmas

But unlike many here I can like the Classic's as much as I want but unless they update the Tram...we are not seeing a Back to the Future ride and so on and so I have no reason to dream of the classic's getting rides at least here at USH. Excited for Monsters land in Florida

I love IOA and think USF is fine and very....very excited for Epic Universe but with USH limited space, yeah Nintendo makes sense if you can have 3-4 lands that are always as full as SNW.....I mean come on that's Universal end goal and would push for USH to take away more studio so we can get more park....if we want more park we need more lands that are full and rides that bring people in.....I hope I'm wrong but think F&F will be hot for a year then drop to normal wait times

On the Topic I just think Pokemon makes the most sense its a HUGE IP, great characters and many idea's for great rides unless it's just another Mario Kart and while that will be cool, its kinda boring and playing it safe to me

Apologies if I've said this before, but I don't care all that much about getting "more" park. Universal Studios Hollywood's greatest strength (being right next door to a working studio) is also a hurdle it must overcome. I like that about the park; it's a fun bit of character that no other theme park has.

Generally speaking, I'm perfectly happy seeing the ways the creative team and operations navigate one of the strangest footprints in theme parks. I'm not a shareholder of Comcast, so I don't care if the park breaks 12, 13 or 14 million guests a year.

Here's the thing. Super Nintendo World and Wizarding World level hits are extremely hard to come by. The only two other IPs that Universal has that'll have the same effect are Pokemon and Lord of the Rings. Donkey Kong and Fast and Furious would bring in the same amount of people. So effectively DK isn't worth it either according to your criteria.

I just visited USH four months ago. A thrill coaster is by far their biggest hole in the lineup. Mummy is average at best (especially when I've ridden its Orlando twin more times than I can count) and Hippogriff is a kids coaster. Every park needs variety. Hollywood Drift will be unlike anything else in the world. That is worth it, even if it's not Nintendo level.

Is there a dedicated thread for Universal Studios Hollywood expansion? Or is it just spread out across different threads like the Lower Lot Redesign thread?

There is this one:

State of USH - What's Next?

Anyway, it may be best to create a new thread to discuss the "state of USH" / lack of events and the like, but this is the Super Nintendo World thread, so we should get back on topic... Here it is :)

Getting back on topic - I wonder if the transition from Simpsons to Pokemon would be a complete tear down/rebuild, or if they'd do it as more of an overlay (aka retheming FFB/Duff Gardens/Kwik E Mart/etc) and then completely tearing down the ride building for a new one.
