Universal's Dark Universe Set for Reboot 9 Years After Tom Cruise's Failed Franchise Starter

Scream's Kevin Williamson reveals he is writing a reboot of the Dark Universe with a new Vampire Diaries-inspired series.

Personally, I think this bodes well for being Darkmoore (Or some form of it) coming out to Hollywood with this development.

I don't expect that Hollywood will ever get a Universal Monsters land, but I feel like a singular attraction could be in the cards.

There is also a Legoland in NY even though it’s often forgotten.

The Starway looming over the lower lot would break the illusion for a monsters land big time. When USH expands into the SS 16-24 cluster, I feel like its going to be a similar situation for when DCA expands into Simba: a land theme where the escalator doesn't interfere too much with the theme. Could be wrong though.

My top two things replacing the Simpsons land would be Monsters.....or just a Universal land and you can give us a monsters Tavern at least

I mean Monsters are literally the headliners for Fan Fest this year (with Scooby Doo) so they know people love the monsters. Not saying we will get a land but would not surprise me if we do get some sort of Monsters area and ride.

Also if we did get a Monsters land where Simpsons is...would be a pretty cool area for a scarezone every year

That didn’t stop them from building Nintendo World in the lower lot with the NBC building towering over the land. You can only do so much about sight lines when you have to work with what little space is given to you.

I actually hope the Springfield replacement is Monsters! That would be great! I feel like you could easily convert the restaurants to Darkmoore.

It fits very well with Potter Next door...and also the Tram in the way that that is where the movies that made this land possible comes from

I know the Epic ride can't fit there but.....if they could make a two story Dark ride and use similar tech from the ride at Epic that would help make it cost just a little less then a new ride from the ground up

Also maybe make it where the Q has spots for actors...and they can add some at HHN if they feel like that would be worth it

Also F&F can take the Duff Gardens...unless in some miracle. Universal wants to add a little show or flat ride there for Monsters

Having never been to Epic, how aesthetically similar is Dark Universe to Hogsmeade? In pictures they feel similar

I hate to pour cold water on this, but this doesn't really mean anything. Universal Television has been trying to do something, anything, with the Universal monsters for over half a decade. It's cool that Williamson is taking a crack at the material, but we're a long (long) way away from anything coming of it. There's no finished script, no pilot commitment, no series order.

They're getting these things done pretty fast... when do you guys anticipate the security bubble being officially rolled out?

Guessing that's the internal goal.

Talked about it on the security thread; but I have to wonder if the goal is around FFN time. Use the event and it's lower attendance levels as a good level for using people as guinea pigs ahead of Fast.

1) Is Fan fest that low?

2) Also....you want to test a new system on people who are paying extra to come to your park?

Would you rather they “test it out” during HHN?

I think Normal days would make sense

HHN is 5 months away and there is a period in between fan Fest and Summer (and even summer crowds don't get bad until July normally)

I mean, hopefully it just works like the system now but if there are like longggggg lines....just saying please don't hurt Fan Fest.

I'm just asking is Fan fest a really low attended event, I know its less then HHN but didn't know it was like super low

From talking with those familar, and having observed the wait time data when FFN was active--the event seemed to be lower than expected for guest appeal; and in the process, led to reduced crowds with most of the waits hovering in the 30's for the event as a whole.

It's why they cut Pets from the attraction list this year, as a result of that matter.

I suspect that with the expected size of crowds, USH might be willing to use FFN as a test subject for the weeks the event operates ahead of Memorial Day, when that will have escalated crowds as a result of the holiday. I can be wrong in my logic, but I suspect getting things stable by testing and gauging how it works for FFN will make more sense than doing it on "Normal Days".
