I was thinking this the other day, that park is going to get battered come 2018 (TSL) and then again in 2019 (SWGE). With nothing much outside of the expansions to soak up the crowds I can see it being like hell on earth for a long time yet.

Every day will be like that debacle "Villains Day" from a couple of years ago. Too many cars for the parking lot, even with the small parking expansion. Way too many people for the still very few rides that will be in the "Park With No Name". There we go, that's a name idea. Certainly better than those other choices.

The parking expansion is by no means small. When all is said and done, parking will roughly be doubled at DHS.

I do think (wishfully hope) that FP+ won't be as much of an issue as it was with Avatar. I can't imagine that too many guests won't be able to get one of them, especially considering that they'll all push more people through than the Avatar rides and that they'll most likely be sharing Tier 1 with Toy Story Mania, Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, Slinky, and Fantasmic.

Either way, it's gonna be a VERY interesting year for Hollywood. 3 new E-tickets in a year is going to draw crowds like a magnet.

Betting the fastpass plus system changes dramatically by then, and not for the better. Be prepared to pay, especially if not staying on site. No inside info, just a good guess.

That goes against the reason for fastpass which is to get people standing in line less so they have more time to spend money in the parks.

Pay options are definitely coming, but they won't be the only options for FP. More likely to be upgrades or extra perks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Disney tests a paid fastpass system for SWL. I'm shocked that Disney has yet to make FastPass an upcharge.

The number of people willing to pay is very high. To contain it, the price would probably escalate rapidly.

The Fastpass Max at Disneyland is booking hot. They'll probably raise the price in the very near future. ....Pay fastpasses at WDW are inevitable. Disney is always exploring new revenue streams. They won't pass that up at WDW, especially with the Star Wars situation fast approaching. ....If you're going to WDW in a couple of years, your budget will be increasing.

So the whole point of having fastpass no longer matters then.

It didn't really keep people out of the lines and in the shops since the Stand By lines, on rides that used to be walk ons, increased dramatically. Touring Plans had some good studies on that. And, even though Next Gen/MY Magic & FP+ originally had projections of increasing spending dramatically, when Iger was questioned about the effects at financial meetings, he could never quantify any number, and after a few meetings, just started ignoring answering the question.

Just as a point of comparison, the express passes at a coaster park can be 2-3 times the admission price....

FP+ should have been an upcharge to begin with! (And i say that loathing most, if not all, of the new WDW upcharge "events".)

FP worked because not everyone got them. I believe this is why Express Pass works, as well.

FP+ forces everyone to get 3. Now you have 80% of the queue devoted to these people, most of whom just picked one to fill out the 3. Touring Plans and EasyWDW have quite a few articles on the effect FP+ has had on standby lines. Spoiler: it made them ridiculously long.

Once they start charging for these, less people will be getting them, and it will barely make a dent on standby, like at UOR with EP.

Arguing a park charging more for priority rides is a good thing is rediculous. Original fast pass was most liked by those who could best take advantage of it. It worked FOR YOU because not everyone got them. Past pass plus makes passes easier to obtain without running around for the AVERAGE guest. It spreads out crowds across rides.

Booooooooooooo! I'm sure I can afford it but still not a fan of having to spend even more money. It's bad enough with the frequent rate increases.

Not necessarily a fan of this. Just being realistic of what seems to be happening in the not too distant future. The signs are there. And GESWL crowds/demand will present significant obstacles to the present free FP system. It seems Disneyland Max Pass FP is a test. Demand there has been huge, so much so that Disney Insiders are predicting an increase of two to three times the present price by the end of the year. Disney has been aggressively looking for new revenue. And Next Gen/My Magic/FP+ did not deliver the economic benefits Disney expected when they spent a couple billion on the system. Lots of high level Execs lost their jobs mostly over that one....Plus the recent FP+ cheating scandal probably didn't help matters either.....Probably the worst though, is that people(myself included) were just finally getting accustomed to FP+ , and now in a couple of years, we'll have to learn a changed/or new system all over again.

I could see Fastpass become an upcharge with onsite hotels getting 2 free fastpasses and then the option to pay for more.
