From what I saw/read it seems like it's a standard refurb for Rise, no plans to make modifications. Plus the Disney Blog line:

The forested area on the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost will continue to represent a time inspired by the Age of the Resistance. You may find Rey around this Resistance camp, and if you’re bold enough, become a hero yourself in a climactic battle with the First Order aboard Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Rise = sequel resistance, Millennium = OG and Mando, First Order area = bad guys. It does make sense!

Another feather in Disneyland's cap, while WDW gets short-changed again.

I’ve always thought that when the OT was integrated into Galaxy’s Edge (which seemed likely since the beginning, especially after the reception to the land creatively), that they would make it into a seasonal event. Decorate the land with OT props (check) and during a refurb of Rise, make it easier to obscure or change certain existing elements that identify the ride with the Sequel Trilogy.

Could this be the plan for this refurb? No changes to the ride, but possibly making it easier to “turn on” an OT overlay in the future?

I am thinking more along the lines of Hyperspace Mountain as opposed to Haunted Mansion Holiday. I just think a seasonal overlay called “Rise of the Rebellion” with some effects turned off and mostly updates to the ride’s screens would be incredibly popular as a seasonal overlay.

After much deliberation, Disneyland will officially expand the timeline of Galaxy’s Edge by April 29. This includes:

- Leia, Chewy and Han roaming outside the Falcon and Oga’s
- Luke roaming the land seeking Force knowledge
- Darth Vader replacing Kylo Ren, while Kylo moves to Tomorrowland
- Background music in the land composed by John Williams

Officially, these changes include the era of the Galactic Civil War and New Republic.

Other changes to come will include story updates to Rise of the Resistance, but Disney has not revealed exactly what this means yet.

Also, this is Disneyland exclusive.

I’ll be honest, they should just have the periods be “seasonal”. I feel bad for the Kylo Ren character actor being pushed away like this.

So basically what people wanted from the start-- the characters and music from the original movies.

How long until they add the Cantina Band?

Rise of the Resistance: Closes January 20.

I think they are updating it...but I doubt Vader will take over for Kylo

Maybe more smaller ways to get OT stuff inside, but I assume more like updating the screens to have someone show up would be the biggest thing....unless they add R2 or something to the attraction somewhere

I am not sure where anyone is getting this information. They announced that this attraction would be going down for refurbishment for an extended period of time about a month ago. I wouldn't expect to see anything outside of a standard refurb.

If they are sticking with any type of "boundaries" for the timeline and story here, that side of the land is definitely staying in the sequel trilogy area.

Let's wait and see how that actually turns out, first.

Disneyland just has a history of getting "enhancements" like this that never travel East, because WDW management tends to think things are "good enough" unless there's a direct connection that can be made to a financial impact (see: decreased dining reservations in Epcot deep-sixing HarmonioUS and a new show getting approved).

Disneyland also has more attarctions in 2 parks than WDW has in 4 parks, plus it doesn't take 45 minutes to get from park to park.

I would not trade you but...lets not pretend like WDW isn't also amazing

Like Epcot is just....dam what a park. You guys have a real Q for the Little Mermaid, Pan and Dumbo a better Nemo ride.

Mush....much better after dark events (you guys get a show with Muppets in it...we have events that are literally just extra meet and greets)

AK is literally both an amazing Zoo that happens to have rides and like 10 times the shows we do

So Like sorry you guys aren't getting Luke but I'd trade these characters for the Encanto ride, Villains land and if we could somehow have a new Carsland next to the current one we have.....grass is always greener
