If this thing crashes and burns (pun intended), I wonder who will take the fall? I cannot even think how they could mitigate it without adding on to the building to provide more room for adventures.

It’s too important to fail. They’ll do everything they can to make it work even if that means running only a few “sailings” a month

While I think as a complete package it will fail, there is no doubt going to be some good stuff in there.

If they could revamp it as a day package and have it departing from Galaxy's Edge using the bus system, I think they could be onto something.

Someone on magic posted about how this was always conceptualized as a genric space theme and how that can lend its use as a potential Guardians Cruises to Epcot one day. I see that making some sense, to be honest as one of the biggest criticism so far has been the lack of star wars aesthetics.

I could see it maybe as an upper end deluxe hotel and drop all the Star Wars cruise situation. I just don't people going for it at that price and with those accommodations. I understand the difference in offerings but $2,000/night gets you your own cabin on the lake at Wilderness Lodge or Polynesian. Those are actual luxury accommodations, not a small cubicle with beds (again only based on limited photos). Yes, this is supposed to offer an overall experience but still...

Someone mentioned a Fifth Element vibe. I guess the rooms on the SW cruise do remind me of the little hibernation pods but the Phloston Paradise Cruise ship looked luxurious in all other ways prior to blowing up.

I think the hotel side is one of the biggest issues. For that money to get a tiny room with no window and bunk beds is never going to work with the Star Wars aspect to it.

Probably the Third Party Company they hired to create the shows and experiences.

I've said before I think they could pretty easily get $500 a person for a day-long experience culminating in dinner. But even if they convert a dozen rooms to more day space activities, that's a ton of wasted space. And we really need to hear how well they organize everything. Again, outside a few shows, there's no way 300 guests are together all day. How they handle break-out groups will tell us how feasible this might be.

To me this seems the only realistic option. The hotel without entertainment simply won't be a draw at $400/night.

Yeah, I'll believe it fails when I see it fail. Til then I will assume Disney can do anything and the "silent majority" (aka not the online fan community) will buy it.

The silent majority can't even think about affording this place. This is strictly aimed at the 1%. And my limited knowledge of that market says this is in trouble.

IMO the people that can afford this place can afford to go to places that aren't this place

Disney may trick people for a little while, and some may enjoy it, but overall this is one of the more niche projects I've ever seen from them

The price point is high enough that the “wait and see” crowd will wait until it’s open and reviews start coming in. They better kiss those bloggers butts.

I don't believe that they are targeting the 1%. They are targeting Star Wars fanatics who will pay anything to live a dream and they are targeting people with kids who love Star Wars. The issue for Disney is that there are only so many and, if that aren't different experiences to have, people won't go back. I see a low repeat business on this. I figure that Disney will drive demand by giving away some stays to make the hotel look full or to reduce capacity to do the same. Just as they did with Rise of the Resistance.

I am wondering what there is to do for the one family member who really isn't that big of a Star Wars fan, and is "just along for the ride".

Drink

And listen to the girl from Fifth Element sing about hiding a vile of coaxium in her headpiece

If only there was some sort of intergalactic tour company running many flights daily between the Moon of Endor to Tatooine. Call it something like the Starwarts Express or maybe Star Tours.

Also, wow, missed opportunity to tie the hotel into Star Tours

It's too bad Disney hates their own franchise so much

Everyone keeps clowning on the Fifth Element, but we all know in our hearts that a Fifth Element hotel would be less structured and more spontaneously fun than a Star Wars hotel.

So are you allowed to leave the hotel and go do other things like explore Orlando and go off property, or do you have to stay to the schedule for the full length of stay?
