Thanks guys! I enjoy it a great deal. I work at Disney and my days off are either at disney parks or universal. I have a surprise for you all that will happen at a later date regarding Kong. A special project i’ve been working on for a while now

goodness….i thought they were bringing back 3D with this refurb. i was dead wrong and my source was right! they ain’t bringing it back.

but no i’m working on a very cool project regarding the ride that i’ll post a bit later

Rode Kong last week. First time since the refurb. Just some observations:

• They removed all traces of 3D Glasses evidence. The old pick-up spot has more permanent cover now.
• Also sealed up the old scareactor boohole.
• Screens, lighting, and effects look good.

Sad about the scareactor, was the exterior entry effect working? Hoping it’s up and running in Dec when I come in with some friends.

Yes, it is normally running now, but it was raining during my ride, so it skipped it.

Hey yall, it’s been quite a while!

I have a couple of updates i thought were worth mentioning. I’m at the park as I type

The outdoor layout has not operated since the freeze which i don’t think is a coincidence. The fire has also not been operational for a couple of months now, both inside and outside but i think this is a cost cutting measure since there are a number of attractions that have been lacking their special effects lately (forbidden journey is the other most noticeable). The plants on the outdoor layout are almost all destroyed with dead leaves, but i’m sure they will green up again, however i’m curious as to if the freeze damaged any of the RFID pucks or wiring out there.

I also saw an article from Inside the Magic (not a fan of them but i had to see the story) that noted there were just under 90 closures or interruptions in January for the ride. Not sure if that metric is true, i’m sure it is, i also noticed significant downtime. One time the TM said the animatronic was not working and that was a reason for delay.

Anyway that’s all i have for now, looks like that short refurb didn’t do much good or maybe the freeze caused more havoc than we thought

To add to his report, we rode yesterday as they opened up later so we just walked on. They skipped the outside, but everything inside worked.

It appears i manifested good voodoo because im here again today and the trucks are running outdoors again after a brief couple weeks.

all exterior fire effects are also restored after two months down, however the fire inside the caves remains faulty because the sliding doors will not shut at all. from what i’ve gathered riding dozens of times over the years, it seems like the doors and flames are controlled by sensors much like the truck is guided by RFIDs. seems like some of these doors and flames are being controlled by extremely faulty sensors because all of them are highly unreliable

but the takeaway is the attraction is in full operation again!!!!

I forgot to say... we got the front row finally! "Finally" because I had wondered how crappy it is.

Not so bad but I have reservations, but mostly because our guide, Becky, was not moving. I think it is awesome that these drivers are (limited) animatronics. But mine was not.

I can see it being a good trade-off to see Jinks (seriously, it is not Jinx?!?) turn his head and see his jaw moving, in return for not seeing... (looks it up) Juan flat out screwing over Kate and Joe.

They should somehow only fill the first row with repeat riders who are strangely involved in the lore. I can just see the lines now: Standby; Express; Single Rider; Nerd Geeks!

We had the front row once, second row twice over all these years. Awful terrible seats on a ride I love. We're usually in the back since we ride Hotel Express often. The back seats were the best for the 3D glasses scenes also. Strangely, those front seats are probably the best seats on the really terrible Fast & Furious Supercharged ride.
