Kong has a small refurb August 20-29 presumably to brush his teeth.

Some small new good news:

I visited the Island today and they have fixed the first motion platform in the swamp scene which was not able to operate for well over two months. That being said I'm very interested to see what they do during this 9 day refurb in August. They've been on top of fixes a lot lately. Hopefully good things to come! The projectors could definitely use some work

First time riding without the 3D glasses on our trip and while the tunnel scene was fine, the first 2 scenes absolutely *suck* in 2D. I'm really glad the outdoor section is back though.

Ridership has never recuperated from the twin disasters. The outside closed for a long time, but finally reopened. But the 3D was taken away, probably for financial reasons. What used to be one of the longest 3 or 4 standby lines in the entire resort (IOA & USF), is now one of the shortest. The guests have spoken. The attraction needs 3D, for which it was designed. I'm glad they fixed the outdoor portion, that was badly needed since its essential for the set up and ambiance of the attraction. But they need to bring 3D back or do a number of practical set redos to bring the ride experience up to par.

The attraction has suffered wait time losses but it’s still consistently busy throughout thw day, especially for an attraction deemed a screen heavy ride. All it needs is some HGTV-esque face lifts which it’s getting in August and they’ll be fine. during the holidays the ride can and has reached 100+ minutes

Holidays and Saturdays yes, but all the rides basically get high then. I monitor the posted and actual waits on Touring Plans most every day and Kong is way way under what it received before the outdoors section broke down and the 3D was removed.

Has this time frame been confirmed? I'm going 8/19-8/26. That would SUCK.
