Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced today that it has decided not to exercise a call option to acquire the remaining partner interests in Six Flags Over Texas. Six Flags faced a December 31, 2025 deadline to commit to making a payment in January 2028.

This feels a tad awkward to say the least.

I wouldn't read too much into it. They've operated SFOT and SFOG as partnerships for 60+ years now, and they are investing heavily in the park. They just chose not to buy out the partnership at this time. They get the opportunity every few years and with their current finances probably decided it wasn't in their best interests. I believe SFOG comes up for a buyout next year and they have said they were going to pursue that buyout, though that may change as well.

These decisions probably signal serious cash flow issues. That's always bad optics.

Seems like Six Flags is about to spin off or sell the smaller parks. Someone on Reddit noticed a filing with the USPTO for trademarks for several parks with different park names, and a holding company called Enchanted Parks Holdings…with a listed address in downtown Orlando. That address matches with the DeWitt law firm, and a minor player in the industry, Innovative Attraction Management is also based out of Orlando. A Reddit user also noticed that the Enchanted Parks domain briefly redirected to IAM’s website. Looks like there’s a good chance the SIX chain is about to become smaller yet again.

Adding an additional bit: Rumors are apparently beginning to inch around of new layoffs affecting the NE corridor, but rumors are apparently beginning to make the rounds of the laying off of a certain major regional manager in Texas: Jeffery Siebert.

Six Flags is a pure hot garbage fire....Cedar Fair was no way as bad as Six Flags. They never should have merged. The former Cedar Fair parks will suffer now too.

Knowing a good chunk of folks who have worked at Cedar Fair parks, they most certainly have their issues, but it was easier to hide because it was more behind the scenes. But there were things that were gonna' surface sooner or later, and let's face it, they probably wouldn't have done this merge in the first place if they were doing fine.

And there's been rumblings these kinds of firings are from the Cedar Fair side of things.

But there were things that were gonna' surface sooner or later, and let's face it, they probably wouldn't have done this merge in the first place if they were doing fine.

And there's been rumblings these kinds of firings are from the Cedar Fair side of things.

It definitely is. It may have started as a merge, but it has morphed into a full onCedar Fair takeover. Legacy Six Flags people will be 95 percent gone when all is said and done.

Cedar Fair was no way as bad as Six Flags.

I think Cedar Fair has historically managed to be much more buttoned up and avoided drama that seems inescapable at Six Flags … but there was huge variance from park to park. i’m not surprised this merger has done nothing to ease those issues.

Losing Jeffrey Siebert is awful news for both TX parks. Also noticed that Fiesta Texas wasn't on that list of getting a new Park President which is a *double* red flag.
