When you look at the real estate listing and the proximity to so much, it's obvious the land is more valuable than the park. Especially when Six Flags has two other parks fairly close by.

it’s pretty cool that americas total lack of a legitimate housing policy has resulted in, among far worse things, most regional theme parks fodder for this type of discussion. this is just a particularly poignant example given that it’s happening 50 miles from the halls of power.

Robert Niles TPI just wrote that Six Flags has fired all 27 of their theme/amusement park presidents. They'll be running their parks from their regional offices. Just when you think Six Flags can't get any worse.....they surprise you.

I'll be at the park next week! Any recommendations I should consider, or any requests for anything I should pay attention to/document? I'll have a few pieces up on Theme Park Insider once I'm back in California.

I mean I'm sure you were going to hit it already but Batwing is such a cool ride and a fun change of pace from the B&M flyers! It's tragic that this is the last one and it's not likely to survive. Wild One blew me away when I was expecting to like Roar a lot better. Then I thought that the Wild West section was pretty decent for a regional theme park but my local Six Flags park (SFDK) has zero half decent themed areas so I have low standards.

If you want an anti-recommendation, unless you're desperate for the credit, their SLC was the worst one I've ever done. Thought it was worse than T3 that everyone bags on. Maybe it's better now since I rode it as Mind Eraser but I'm not going to chance it when I go back later this summer.

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised! I went in with the lowest expectations after hearing all of the terrible, terrible reviews but I had a very good day. It's not a top tier SF park but I think it's squarely in the middle somewhere which is more than I was expecting!

I saw a Facebook post (that was also backed up by a Screamscape post recently), but it was reported two days ago that a gear box of the lift hill for Batwing (the last remaining Vekoma Flying coaster) has cracked, and may be out of commission for a while, if not the rest of the park run.

That would be an immense bummer! Hope that's not the case, because if true, I'd be stunned to see them get it back on line.

It restarted testing the day or two after that happened so the reports of it's demise may have been exaggerated! I would say grain of salt with a Reddit post but AFAIK the original "Down Permanently" post started there too

Let's hope! I'm heading there myself later this summer... but I'm keeping my expectation in check. Fortunately for me, I've both been to SFA before, and also ridden other Vekoma Flying coasters
