SeaWorld Orlando's Future Plans

Yep, this is something new and fairly big for SeaWorld.

You know what it is? Is is a river rapids ride in the Sea Garden, or an animal initiative, announcement related to new corporate ownership, or something else?

Yea, I feel like you wouldn't invite media to talk about stuff you already announced at former media events without any of it actually opening yet.

Seems normal to me, they have a media event to announce all the final details and then throw in a big announcement at the end with little or no details.

I have no idea whether to be happy or worried about this.

What I am hearing is that yes they will announce the water rapids ride replacing the sea garden but it is also going to be an announcement of the multi year plan for the park. Showing what its going to look like years down the road. This is supposed to be several major announcements from what I am told. SeaWorld ambassadors have a meeting Thursday morning at 8am and then the media will be after that.

Wouldn't be about the corporate ownership. That would come directly from SeaWorld corporate, not an individual park.

Having a meeting can mean that the program is being diminished again, but I hope it has to do with the Ambassador program being expanded to Asia or something. I have this feeling whatever is being announced may be related to that Chinese company. I think a lot more has been talked about between the two companies behind closed doors than we know.

SWSD just had a media day for the Electric Ocean event today, which makes me believe at least a part of the SWO media day Friday is related to Electric Ocean. It included this video of a street show.

It makes me say "lol, what did I just watch."

After seeing what happened to Journey to Atlantis, it's hard for me to get excited for a new SeaWorld ride when it's clear they don't know how to take care of them.

I expect big things but at the same time, China is limiting foreign investments to push for more investment in Chinese companies. So while I expect big things, I'm also nervous that if it doesn't pan out, it won't bode well for consumers.

Wealthy Chinese tourists are also becoming a big deal in Orlando. There is no way the Chinese will view Sea world parks like Blackstone as a way to extract money while building cheap.

Again, the Chinese government is cracking down on those who invest in the foreign markets. The market in China is very different than the states and the Chinese government will take a hit to teach their people to follow a lesson. They already did that with Korean imports over THAAD.

The Chinese investors only own a 21% stake in the company. While that's a sizable enough chunk that they have a say in operations and decisions, unlike when that 21% was owned by Blackstone, the company is not going to have the same demands and obligations for payments that Blackstone required. It's a positive development and they can leverage the Chinese company's moves to expand into the Asian market to grow and develop things for the U.S. market.

Yes. Blackstone sucked out the profits as is their MO. And, did their usual diversion of money for bloated Executive salaries, bonuses and such.
