I have been going to this hotel for 15 years now and have always enjoyed it. That is, until my last trip. Universal usually posts that a hotel is under renovation on their booking website, but not this time. I don't mind construction but they were putting in a new tile floor in the lobby, and the smell was awful. They are also renovating the Island restaurant, and the menu at Jake's was subpar. Only one steak offering, and it was fifty dollars. On top of all that, the pool, which is one of the only on-site pools without a slide, was too warm to cool off in. Also, the waterfall and water cannons in the pool were not operational. Very disappointed in a hotel we could always depend on over the years.

I actually saw the 'renovation' listed on the website when I looked at rates this summer a month or two ago. That surprised me since I didn't know they were doing anything substantial there. I guess it was a timing thing concerning when it was listing the renovation notice. Perhaps they didn't do that until they got some complaints. Food selection at RP is weak since Emerils closed. I go over to Sapphire to eat when I'm at RP. Sapphire is a better hotel, but they don't have Express.

I’ve got a reservation for one night at RP. Do I need to check in at the resort or can I check in on line? Would I get the express passes this way? Thanks.

You’ll need to go to the hotel front desk to get your room keycard that will be used for the express lines. If you check in online, it just makes the process go faster.
