Double posting as it’s been a day and this is a completely different thought—

Even though most of the songs have a “featured performer,” each of the songs also has a way to highlight members of Electric Mayhem itself—either vocally or their instrument.

Song 2 - Animal and (hopefully) Janice
Born to be Wild - I’d bet Dr. Teeth or Floyd takes the lead vocally on this one. I think this is Dr. Teeth’s as frontman (especially when Gonzo invariably shows up).
Love Rollercoaster - With Jennifer Hudson AND Questlove, and only 70 seconds, this is likely the most straightforward cover. The featured will feature.
Rock! Rock! - Whoever doesn’t take the lead, vocally, on Born to be Wild will chime in on this one. It should be “Floyd” track.
Walkin’ on Sunshine - This song is all about Zoot and Lips! They won’t likely sing, but they should get their flowers at least.

The one big question about all of these covers, however, is the Animal variable. If every track devolves into Animal screaming (a very lazy solution), then it will be disappointing.

My hope would be that the inevitable Animal crash out will happen on the final brake run, no matter the track.

As CM Previews begin tomorrow, they have shown off the animatronics in the preshow!

In the making of the audio animatronics, Scooter was captured using motion tracking tech to make the movements as realistic as they could.

Yup. Gonna be pretty hard for the actual ride portion to screw up enough for this to be anything other than a huge upgrade. This looks phenomenal.

Looks like some great plussing... to an attraction I'll never ride!

(Which means this is still a quite bizarre pairing of IP and ride type.)

Why? It’s an IP created for a mature audience with a ride type designed for an older audience. I’m here for the chaos lol

There will be lots of Muppets fans who either do not wish to ride an intense coaster, or otherwise can't. The Muppets have a broad appeal, and should headline an attraction with broad access.

I'd also debate whether or not the Muppets were intended to be a "mature" property. I think, certainly in their most successful form under Henson from the late 1970s through the early Disney years with CHRISTMAS CAROL, they were very carefully crafted to work for all ages (broad silliness and music for kids, more sophisticated gags and cameos for adults).

I get the first half and do feel sorry for those who will not be riding. After debating a bit myself when it was first announced, I don’t know that it’s the optimal choice, but I think it’s a fun way to embrace the chaotic, mature nature of the IP.

However, Jim Henson very explicitly intended for the Muppets to be treated as a show with a more mature audience in mind compared to other puppet based entertainment. It’s why he created pilots such as The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence. His exact words about it were:

"A lot of our work has always been adult-oriented. So we'll be working a lot with those aspects of the Muppets. Through this pilot, we hope to be able to demonstrate that puppetry can be very solid adult entertainment."

It’s also why we have references to BDSM, sex, infidelity, alcohol, and more throughout the years. His own son was quoted saying:

“The years with the Muppets, it was really all targeted to adults. It was in a time when everything had to be safe for the whole family. But he was targeting adults.”

Even the recent special with Sabrina Carpenter had jokes about kinks, cheating, death, etc. You can find plenty of reviews complaining about it being inappropriate for children (which is silly, but still).

I would never say it strayed away from being accessible to a wide audience, but the mature aspect was frequently emphasized and is critical to the history of Henson’s legacy with The Muppets.

Yes but also, their fans are getting older. And may not want to go on a rollercoaster that goes upside down.

I've loved the Muppets forever but doesn't mean I'll be in coaster-riding shape forever. Or will I? :lmao:

But even the ad copy here emphasizes the wide appeal! "We make grown-up people laugh [...] you can imagine what we do to children!" and "[...] the best thing to happen to family viewing..."

Maybe we're just disagreeing over phraseology; my contention is that, at the height of Muppets pop culture popularity, they could grab to basically anybody. As such, a Muppets theme park attraction should not be limited to just thrill-seekers.
