So the current rumor for Epic Universe is that they are getting a Bride of Frankenstein-themed indoor coaster. So why bring it up on this thread?

Despite F&F about to open, I don't think they can get away with closing the ride until they have a proper indoor roller coaster to replace this with. I know they're coming out with a new Mummy movie next year, but the track has yet to be replaced, which its time is past due for that. Assuming this Bride coaster rumor is true, I wonder if they finally have a proper replacement for this aging indoor coaster?

Not to throw this thread off-track, but I think they could save that for the Curse of the Werewolf plot. I don't think anyone knows for sure what's going there lol

I'm down for a Monsters Coaster, I will say Id' rather them just take out the mummy building and start over, because the space is small and think if they had more room and could even just make the building taller we could get a longer coaster.

Speculation: (I think ive said this theory before so apologies if im getting repetitive) My head theory for a while is F&F is the meant to be the replacement of the Mummy; a high thrill multi launch coaster. The refurbishment of Transformers signals to me they want to keep the ride for the foreseeable future, and with the building(s) behind Mummy being relocated for expansion I don't see Mummy lasting when a Nintendo land sized land could potentially fit there (maybe even two if theyre creative!). Now with the info Mummy is due for a retrack adding to my theory, whether or not they go ahead with it will kinda confirm it or not.

Simpsons still has still 2028 it seems (or 2027, I'm not sure) so Mummy deconstruction and its replacements construction could get started before Simpsons. Simpsons appears regularly on their socials and its still a loved part of the park (intersection no less) so I think they're going to keep the land around until the last possible second.

The lower lot was known for its intense thrill rides, the Mummy being one of the main reasons, but now with Nintendo Land opening there it seems they don't have "rules" about what each lot should be nessecarily. Heck even ET used to be the Mummy.

In short, I think when F&F proves a success and is fully operational (or when the crowds die down slightly) they'll announce either a refurb for Mummy or its closure. If the Mummy gets closed for extensive retrack tommorrow I will die from embarrassment

Personally I think they’re waiting for F&F to open before the Mummy goes down for a massive refurbishment. It’s still a very popular attraction.

I’m Gonna be real: If their plan is to keep the Mummy around instead of replacing it with a better indoor coaster, I’m going to be kinda disappointed.

With the new Mummy movie coming out, I think they will give the ride a massive refurb. If they insist on keeping the ride, at the very least I would like to see the coaster portion of the ride get a layout change.

I'm not sure how they would pull off a complete layout change in that tight space, but I'd love to see restored effects, new effects and some updated technology on the ride.

Oh, and a drop track ala Hagrids!

I suspect when Mummy closes--it closes properly and becomes a brand new darkcoaster.

The ride has been operating as it was since it opened in 2004--and has seemingly had no form of any notable retracking. Considering how frequent and often the ride has been operated for the past decade and nearing a half by 2027 (as by 2028, it would be operating for 14 years), I suspect they'd be treating this like a Hulk scenario where they're gonna have to replace a lot of the track.

This is likely nearing the point where a larger question has to come apparent for how much is worth keeping the existing attraction, or to just start from scratch altogether. And if I was UDX--I'd be highly considering the options for developing a coaster that can replace the current one, and to have it ready as soon as you can.

An Intamin MDC, indoors and modernized, feels like the right kind of a replacement for Revenge of The Mummy. Hagrids doesn't seem sustainable for the Hollywood park due to the lack of space--but having a highly themed darkcoaster for families and young teenagers would be a good option to compliment it from Hippogriff and Hollywood Drift.

Yeah, I think the thing that may more directly determine this ride's fate is what state the show building is in. It obviously predates the Mummy roller coaster by nearly 15 years, and it wouldn't shock me if they decide to raze the building and construct something new. But as others have said, Mummy is nearing the end of its normal service life and it'll be pretty obvious what direction Universal is taking in the next few years.

No, the ride has currently been operating for 22 years in its current form with no major updates...except the switched off ending.

The only thing making me hesitant that they will scrap this ride is the new movie coming out next year. Even with the new movie, the ride as it is just doesn't fit with the longterm plan of the park. There seems to be an effort to make every corner of the park feel like a legitimate theme park and not the hodge-podge it was back in the 00's. It's kind of in the way.

But like we all have said, the ride system is towards the end of its service life and like Jake mentioned, the building its in is old. Like, it predates the lower lot and ET! They're going to have to make a decision soon, as in within the next two years.

A UDX coaster would be a fantastic replacement. Theme it to the Monsters!
