With Dino-Land officially extinct, that's a whole third of the Disneyland / Magic Kingdom motto-adjacent thesis - Animals of today, yesterday, and fantasy - gone with it.

Considering UDX has had a strangle-hold on the public perception of dinosaurs' since before Animal Kingdom was even being designed, and no Disney movie starring extinct animals has really taken off, outside of ... Ice Age, maybe? , what do you think the chances are that we see these kinds of animals represented within the park ever again?

I feel like extinction is pretty major part of the conservation and ecological focus of early Animal Kingdom. It would be strange to not have that idea around essentially at all. I also think that the modern Disney company doesn't really care about that, and with the complete thematic change away from Dinosaurs and towards more profitable IP, I'd imagine they're not especially committed to keeping them represented within DAK either.

Never say never, but if the company valued having dinosaurs represented at WDW, they would be. So the actions speak for themselves.

(I think it's a real thematic loss for Animal Kingdom to no longer have dinosaurs.)

Unless we see Disney create a new IP that features dinosaurs, I doubt it.

I do wish we keep some of the fossils and "edutainment" aspects of Dinoland somewhere in the park. That little offshoot walkway between Dinoland's entrance and Theater in the Wild (Finding Nemo) is a perfect place for a mini dinosaur trail.

I really do believe that Restaurantosaurus, the Chester and Hester gift shop, and Dinosaur could've made an understated but solid Americana-focused prehistoric mini-land. I believe most of the critique of Dino-Land stemmed from Dino-Rama, which felt "authentic" to a fault; a cracked and faded parking lot and carnival rides. It's easy to be authentic when the theme is cheap and unimpressive. The Studios Park-ification of an Animal Kingdom land.

And that whole side of the land took place in Florida anyways. Florida is "Tropical America", right?... right??? :eyes: Yeah, they would've never gone for that. :nervous:

I will always blame this whole situation on The Good Dinosaur, for being a bad movie that no one cared about. If that thing had worked out, we might still have some semblance of Dino-Land today. Oh well.
