You might have to wait a bit for Nintendo to have the opportune moment. Animal Crossing New Horizons came shortly after the cheaper Switch lite and the DS and 3DS versions came out only a little before the cheaper models as well. You’ll likely have to wait for us to get closer to the release of a potential Switch 2 lite for Nintendo to market alongside a casual game like Animal Crossing.

Though there are exceptions like City Folk and New Horizons, a good chunk of the Animal Crossing games released just about a year after the system they were for released. In New Horizons case, it took a while because the same team was working on Splatoon 2, but it's been rumored that EPD 5 has expanded to the point where they can more easily work on both simultaneously.

I think we could potentially see Animal Crossing fairly early in the system's life, especially as a new Smash Bros. looks to be far off, and Nintendo will want to prioritize new entries of their major properties on Switch 2.

I could see it essentially switching spots with Smash especially since it seems like Splatoon 4 could also be far off considering the fact they’re pushing the update for 3 and the Raiders spinoff. We’ll see how it goes.

With the rumors of an unknown first party holiday launch game on the horizon and Metroid Prime 4 coming soon, looks like we will have a strong finish to the year with the console.

I still can’t justify the price quite yet to bite the bullet and buy one but I think by the end of next year others who share my sentiment will probably want to purchase. This number is only going to grow. Good on Nintendo.

I've been hearing murmurs of this too. I have a feeling that there's probably one more new first party game this year we don't know about yet, and possibly more Switch 2 editions of Switch 1 games coming soon.
