Just speculating on what might be done if there was more space, and was being optimistic lol. Notice in my estimation none of the originally planned attractions need to change. That would be my guess on how it could play out.

I just don't see them keeping SNW the way it is. You have over 300 acres of theme park space open for development, compared to the 9 acres you originally had, and you don't change (add) anything? It doesn't make any sense.

Making the courtyard bigger wouldn't do anything. Maybe it stretches the land out to ten acres. But compared to SW:GE and TSL, that's nothing.

Wait, you're saying Nintendoland is nothing compared to TOY STORY LAND!? :oO:

I'm talking about spreading the 3 rides out, adding more, and more restaurants, shops and entertainment. I just don't see the plans for existing 3 rides changing, only being spread out more to make room for more stuff.

I’m actually excited for it to go to the new park. Just have to wait a little longer but it will be worth it in the end.

Exactly. It's historically just not what Universal does. You mentioned a perfect example with Jurassic Park.

But Hogsmeade is another. USJ could've added a great hall or new rides or better Hogsmeade. But instead they just got a small lake and everything else identical.
USH could've added more and had a better Hogsmeade. But instead they got wider pathways, an Olivanders with more rooms and everything else identical.

This thought that now that SNW has more land in a new park is going to somehow create this over the top new land is a pipedream. SNW, in it's KidZone form w/ Donkey Kong coaster and play area- was already a plussed version vs USJ. It was badass as is.
It doesn't need to have more.

All this new land gets you is SNW, as we saw it. Like you said- maybe more restaurants (though I doubt it), shops (though I doubt it) and entertainment (though I doubt it). Bigger walkways? Maybe. It all depends what crowd flow deficiencies they have at USJ- that's likely the only things that will change. If they find out restaurant X is too popular, they might add size to that, etc.

But who cares- we get another 3-5 lands on top of SNW! A brand new flippin park!!! SNW is really a small piece to an amazing puzzle at this point.

Mike, my friend- If SNW ends up going to park 3, then it boils down to this:

-Would you rather have SNW in 2020?
or
-Would you rather have SNW in 2023 with an entirely new theme park?

Because it appears those were the only two options.
SNW was to be full steam ahead at KZ as a contingency if the lawsuit outcome didn't go the way they wanted. Had this Stan Thomas deal gone the other direction, we would have seen shovels in the ground by now, I'm sure of it.

But alas, we get an entire third park instead. *Whomp whomp*
Whatever goes in KidZone won't be as good as SNW would've been- that we can be sure of- because, really, what would be better than SNW? But that's water under the bridge.
Just head to USH, USJ or Disney for the next few years and come back to UOR when it peaks your interest again. Completely understandable.

We already have one overbearingly negative Mike rolling around this forum. We certainly don't need two. I like and miss my old Happy Mike.

There’s another?

My post was mostly just about KidZone. If not wanting to close down the only kiddie stuff in the park was part of the decision it’s just delaying the inevitable. It’s going to have to close for something eventually.

Also, I’ve got no problem waiting for the third park. The problem is holding Nintendo hostage until it opens.

I'm just hoping that mario kart or donkey kong coaster give me at least a Fj or gringotts level of thrill. Universal has tamed my lust for coasters with cutting edge thrills, but let's be clear I'm not a kid so I hope one of these 2 give me something on par with the potter attractions as far as thrill goes. If this is too kiddy you will find me at the original parks instead.

I don't think you should expect a thrill from MK, but DK will easily be as thrilling as Gringotts

Or I guess I'm using thrill loosely, but a wow factor, like ok there's nothing like that I've been on before.

Correct- but you don't just close a land and sit around and wait to see which course you are going to take. You have to file permits, and other things (where electric, plumbing, plans, etc) are going to go- as well as line up the contractors. They'd need different plans based on which way they were going. They also didn't know how long this Stan Thomas thing would go for.

The more this is shaping up, the more it looks like SNW was always going to Park 3- and KZ was more of a contingency in the event the Stan Thomas stuff didn't go in their favor or got delayed well beyond what they were comfortable with. Meaning, ideally, they'd open SNW at park three in 2023. But if they couldn't, they'd rather open SNW in 2020 at KZ than 2025-2026 at the new park if the Stan thing was prolonged for years.
Hence why they had the plans ready to go.

My take on thrill levels:

Yoshi - Family Style Dark Ride ~Peter Pan's Flight/Winnie the Pooh level
Mario Kart - Exciting multi-sensory race ride ~ Indiana Jones Adventure/Spider-Man level
Donkey Kong - Family Coaster with simulated danger - Somewhere between Hippogriff and Cobra's Curse level

Not descriptions of the rides themselves in any way, just my estimates of level of thrill.

Mario Kart may blow everyone's minds. You may need to ride it 5 times before you truly start to appreciate everything that's going on.

Don't think that's the case. Firms were being hired to begin construction in KidZone. It goes beyond just a backup plan. They were extremely close to pulling the trigger when they suddenly changed course.

Yep. Just like they had to hurry up & do new auditions for the Barney costume characters in October/November since they had lost cast when they previously told them it was closing.

Yea. Construction was imminent. They were prepared for it. HHN was prepared for it. It was gonna happen...until it wasn't.
