And again, it's not necessarily screens attractions that are the issue. It's that there are too many of them in USF.

I will welcome new screen-based attractions in the third park, provided they're part of a balanced diet over there, so to speak.

Yeah, I'm hoping for Universal to at least TRY to make a screen based attraction as good as Forbidden Journey

I personally don't mind. Were not just getting snw in Florida there's a bigger picture for us and that's why I don't mind. Plus as long as they start building soon and I see construction I'll be fine as I love architecture. I will be flying to Hollywood though . And wasn't the timeline for 2020, 2021, 2022? What's another year? It was far away for us from jump.

It's a business decision as @AliciaStella said. If the main SNW ends up on a 10-12 acre spread at the 3rd park, then it's because they needed that as the anchor there. The attractions will likely be the same, but on a larger piece of land with better crowdflow.

Look, if Vivendi had never sold the 1800 acres and instead built 2 theme parks on it, then you'd probably have 3 Nintendo areas being built in 3 of the 4 parks with completion dates around 2020-2021 for all 3 lands. There's no doubt in my mind about that. Universal would not be sitting on the Nintendo IP if they already had a fully built out 2nd resort.

That's the difference between where WDW is and where Universal is. Universal has spent the past 3 years acquiring land (finally appears to be done), and now they're going to finally get the 2nd resort built. WDW can do what they're doing because they already have the fully built out resort, it just needs all the IP now of TSL/SWL/GOTG/etc.

It makes too much sense to move Mario to the 3rd dry park. The last thing you want to end up with is a situation where in 2030, your attendance numbers for the parks looks like this (Mario in USF):
USF: 15 million
IoA: 12 million
3rd: 8 million

I get that fans don't care about business matters like that, but those are the issues that should matter to Universal execs. If Mario is being moved to the 3rd dry park, it's a business decision being made to avoid an attendance imbalance from being created, nothing else. If they don't think the above scenario would happen, then they would build Mario in USF.

I highly doubt they’d have that big of a gap if the third park had all the IP being talked about including other Nintendo ones like Pokémon.

All the other IP being talked about, including Pokémon, is nothing but speculation until construction starts and they're announced.

It’s another 2 years maybe more. We had the 2021 slot originally.

Then it makes even more sense to put the actual finalized plans in USF and save everything that’s still fluid for Park 3. Who knows how long it’s going to take.

Super Nintendo World, from everything I have read, heard, and seen, will be the next step to Universal Parks and Resorts, on the level of Hogsmeade. But that patience is something that should be something that is accepted, as the last thing we would want, is the project being rushed.

If you are patient enough, you will be rewarded,
as Super Nintendo World is quite unlike anything done previously in Universal Creative. And that it's even better if it goes to Gate 3, as you can market it as a headlining act, instead of being added into the currently existing park, which in turn, will bring audiences who can't travel all the way to Asia or California, and those who want to see Nintendo, but will also see new things as-well.
I don't know what our patience has to do with anything. Uni doesn't care if we're patient or impatient. It's completely out of our hands. We'll get SNW when they damn well please, unfortunately.
Whining or being patient makes no difference for the end result or how you are rewarded. All it does it maintain your own sanity.

Is it worth 3 extra years for better crowd flow? That’s up to you to decide. If this is the direction they’re going in, it’s a business decision to guarantee a good IP to anchor a new park.

I could make a compelling case that SNW going into KidZone would be significantly better for the crowd flow of USF.
As it stands now, Hollywood is essentially barren the first several hours of the day. The crowds congest the streets of production central.
By adding SNW to KZ, you'd pull crowds into the wider Hollywood and relieve congestion for Prod. Central (in particular if Shrek or DM are being replaced).

Yes, take the stone cold lock of a huge guest and revenuer generator out of your new enterprise in favor of things that may or may not happen. Brilliant.

Park 3 is gonna be in the 2023 timeframe. They know how long it'll take.

idk about SNW needing to go in KZ, but SOMETHING that pulls crowds (will Jason Bourne pull crowds?) needs to be put between the entrance and Springfield.

We'll never find out if they do end up moving Mario, but I do think there is a risk of families saying "we'll just go to the original parks for Harry Potter and Nintendo" and maybe bypassing the 3rd park on shorter weekend stays.

It's hard to explain because Pokemon is as big of a brand as Mario, but as a theme park anchor, Mario's SNW will probably be a much better anchor for the 2nd resort in terms of overall presentation. It would have the same functional impact as Harry Potter has on the current UOR. As big as Pokemon is, I'm not necessarily sure Pokemon would be able to serve as that kind of anchor, but if the bean counters at Universal see it that way, then they won't change course, and we'd get to test your theory.

Yea, as much as I loved Pokémon, this is exactly right. Mario has everything tailormade for a theme park anchor land. Recognizable characters, recognizable locations, and a weenie in the form of Peach's castle. Pokémon has the characters, but doesn't have the other two thanks to the series continually moving around to different locations.

I think a good-to-great land could be made from the Pokémon franchise, but it doesn't have the recognizable location that would make it a good centerpiece for a park.

I'm going to have to disagree. Is that what UOR might be thinking, yes- because they are an older generation of management. In fact, the same management that saw a vastly superior IoA have underwhelming attendance.

But it's not 1999. It's the social media age. Information, ride throughs, pics, social media- all will play a major factor here. Look at VB- not a single IP- just a water park- and at capacity daily. Why? Instagram, social media and on-site guests.

UOR w/ park 3+ isn't the "shorter weekend stay" crowd anymore. It's the week-long on-site vacation crowd similar to Disney.

That would be, hands down, the worst weenie or icon at any park in Orlando (outside of USF, which doesn't really have one unless you include the globe, which is perfect).

We are getting way to worked up about this.

It's a two year difference, maybe even a year difference. SNW will be expanded. I would be surprised (and a little disappointed) if they didn't add something else, and I don't think Nintendo would have allowed SNW to be moved if that wasn't the case. Something else will be coming.

Would you rather have a small, super-crowded land in a existing theme park, or a big, less-crowded, better land in a new one?

DHS says "Hi."

And a weenie is a visual draw to a land, not the park's icon.

What? the Chinese Theatre is beautiful. Also, if @Andysol is saying that peach's castle would be a terrible icon, i agree, a park icon should have some personality, it would feel lame if it was directly taken from an IP, but as a weenie i think it would be incredible.

That's just an assumption though- maybe even wishful thinking. If going to the new park- I would say there is a much greater chance of getting an identical land as what we were originally getting in USF (and USJ) vs a larger and better land in the new one.
At most we might get wider walkways like USH got for Hogsmeade.
But if USJ is adequate, we're getting a carbon copy.

How the heck would Peach's castle be a bad weenie/icon? Especially how would it be the "worst in Orlando"? :?:
