WB had their chance to reboot NOES and they failed. Lee Cronin was on my list of directors until The Mummy. I don’t trust him and neither should y’all. They would clearly be rushing this project more than Paramount.

Paramount deserves a chance to bring their vision to theaters since the son of WC has sided with them.

Actor - JCB should be the pick and if Parker Finn isn’t tied up with Smile 3, let him takeover.

Sesame Street Idk GIF

I liked the Mummy. And i trust him. To each their own, i guess.
I think more horror should have the balls to take big, WEIRD swings like that and do something we've not yet seen with a story we think we've seen already like that; Not to mention, more horror movies should have the guts to try to be Evil Dead-levels of bonkers and gross as that.

Y'all asking for Vecna to be Freddy are sigh-worthy and boring - we need someone with a sense of humor and improvisational comedic wit. If you got what you wanted, we'll just get another Jackie Earle Haley performance. If you're gonna be unoriginal with your asks, at least pick someone like Bill Skarsgard.

I'm gonna throw David Dastalmachian and Walton Goggins into my personal wishlist.
If we don't mind the age, i'd suggest Willem Dafoe or Kevin Bacon - though i think the time for either to even want to consider the role has passed.

Lee Cronin’s NOES (the nerve of him)
Let’s make Freddy a deadite who moves like the priest of hell like a cenobite named Pinhead and people are possessed like Exorcist. Let’s also skip tradition and replace it with other inspirations of modern day films like Talk to Me and Bring Her Back. I already see it.
Everybody has a right to like what they like. That man is not fit to do Freddy right.
Fede Alvarez is an example of a director who honors tradition and adds his iteration to franchises correctly.

Also, can we please stop adding old actors to a role that should be given to a younger actor to embody for the next decade?

Evil Dead Rise was meh and The Mummy was pretty atrocious. I don't expect much with Evil Dead Burn after those two lol.

100% agree Paramount's version should be the film that gets made. I was hesitant at first, but with the Craven estate giving their blessings, I trust Paramount A LOT more with the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.

I refuse to accept a shot/shot remake of a film would be a good idea—especially with the current Paramount that is standing.

Genuinely think yall are failing to consider how bad that would actually be.

This is how I feel, I hold the original NOES pretty highly and point blank...no shot/shot remake is going to improve or even MATCH the original. You wanna' reboot the franchise? Be my guest, it's totally possible, but not if you're just copying the O.G. .

I think there's a whole lot more going on behind the scenes than is being alluded to, and these new details are posturing/negotiation of some kind.

Because at face value, both tracks of development are kind of insane:
  • Paramount: Straight remake of Craven's original screenplay, with rights from the Craven estate. But unless there was specific legal language requiring them to use that original script verbatim (and why would there be?), there's no reason they'd have to treat this as a straight remake. It's bizarre that they'd think the appetite is there for just another pure remake (and one seemingly even more slavish to the original movie). Using the elements established in Craven's script, nothing should stop them from telling a new story.
  • Warner Bros.: Producing a multi-million dollar film, with a multi-million dollar advertising campaign... that will be illegal to be screened in the United States.

(I actually liked the 2010 movie, but when it failed to A. do anything truly new//original AND B. gain public opinion or any sort of traction, i think we've proven that a nearly shot-for-shot remake ain't the way to bring our boy back. I simply refuse to think the next NoES movie needs to be Stranger Things Season 4. JCB is a good actor, I just don't want him to be Freddy)

Let's not split hairs over which Book of the Dead summons a Mummy or a Kandarian demon ;)

Unironically, I'd love if Freddy was as unhinged as a deadite. lol I think some of his best moments in earlier movies carry that kind of energy.

Freddy is more nuanced than that, i know, but it's a fun thought! IMO it's going to come down to which actor they cast in the role more than the director of the movie anyways. It could be Cronin or Alvarez or any great horror director worth their salt, if they cast the wrong actor and it puts the franchise back in the hole for another 16+ years: we all lose.
