Well I guess I was right to say MonsTres--considering this seems outside of La Muerte; a entirely female-led house.

The use of not only La Llorona, but of La Siguanaba is going to make this feel like a lesser house. Genuinely wish they could've picked other legends on this one.

EDIT: Monstruos 3 is the end of the trilogy of houses by Murdy on El Muerte.

It's been La Muerte, but still has a "male" voice.

ya, this is obviously very regionally specific but it's not uncommon in south america for the ""god of death"" to be referred to as La Muerte but be presented as a male skeletal figure. in mexico it's much more common, in my experience anyway, for death to be presented as a female skeletal figure.

Is there a concept Murdy won't run into the ground?

Fwiw, I like the concept of an anthology of Latin American monsters and I think it is great that Murdy wants to do it. Especially considering he ***Very publicly asked people what they wanted to see in September, and that there were actually a lot of responses that included legends that didn't have this set of characters***.

This really feels like the aftermath of budget allocation with having to cater to multiple high-class IP's this year; that the originals would have to be dialed back as a result. Genuinely hoping he surprises me with what we'll see in September; but I have reason and merit to not be happy on Monstruos 3 with the lineup being shown here.

La Llorona and La Siguanaba feel too close to eachother and feel like the results of intrusive thoughts on Twitter letting in; and La Muelona feels like a female version of the El Cucuy legend. It feels lesser, especially in comparison to the previous two.

Yeah, it's La Muerte due to Spanish grammar, not due to the gender of the character, as Death is "genderless" so it can be whatever it wants for whatever story.

Well, it's been confirmed it's the last.

I saw that as a tongue-in-cheek response to horror films, saying it’s the last, but the money starts talking to pump out sequels. Not saying it won’t ever come back, but I tend to believe we won’t see it for a bit after this year.

How has it been "run into the ground" when it was among the best houses the last two years and there's literally no indication that this one won't be good, as well?

It just feels like they took what they listened too back in September, and played it too safe and too close to the chest in what they wanted to risk for in representation.

I won't doubt that this house is probably going to be great; but I genuinely really think it is flawed by the similarities for the new legends to that of previous ones, and how when focusing in on legends from Central and South America; that there is more that they can do that isn't what they chose. They could've chosen La Catrina considering how she has been a fixture of the event since 2021, they could've picked Chupacabra's and done a different take compared to last year's scarezone.

They could've done La Ciguapa and give something more dense and jungle-feeling. They could've done Duendes, which had been consistently and notably talked about by fans when Murdy sent his "Feeler" out back in September.

The chasm of Latin American legends and myths is vast, and it feels like they are choosing choices that don't feel like they are pushing what Monstruos *could* be as a concept.

“One wails. One bites. One beguiles. La Llorona, La Muelona and La Siguanaba await in the dark. Three legends La Muerte wants you to meet, but you’ll wish you never did”.

La Llorona obviously wails. But for the other two, it's a bit unclear - according to some preliminary googling, both La Muelona and La Siguanaba beguile men, luring them from the path, and then biting (leading men astray and biting either with sharp teeth or a horse head).

I have loved Monstruous 1 and Monstruous 2 in Hollywood, so have no doubt Monstruous 3 will also be good, but I'm curious how they will distinguish these three sufficiently.

Not a surprise but I’m glad to see the Monstrous trilogy come together! I will say I thought they would do creatures of Latin America, but I’m still excited!

Maybe next year they’ll finally do a Chupacabra house next year.
