This land seems like over kill from the back story to the demolition of the facades, they could have built the ride and left the courtyard as is.

Should Disney start putting a disclaimer when they release backstories like this?

Because there is always a ton of backlash lately when they decide to do what they are known for. Tiana’s really messed up a lot of people in that fandom.

Well I think that's two separate issues: 1) people being weird about Splash & Tiana 2) over reliance on backstory instead of actual stuff in the land (see SWGE). It really depends on the execution if this backstory is a crutch or just a design bible fun fact.

But seriously, Potter has human like characters so that works. Cars and Zootopia exist in a human-less world so that level of suspension of disbelief kinda makes sense. But humans very much exist in the Monsters Inc world and I'm going to be interested to see how they paper over that (every waiter at Harryhausen's "first day"?)

This is all giving Zootopia Shanghai vibes to me as much as they are able to work with from the ground up with regards to atmosphere. Big win imo.

I think I probably could've just suspended my disbelief on this one. I don't think about why there are humans wandering around Cars Land too much. I do think there's been a tendency to emphasize "backstory" and "lore" in the absence of substance. I'm certainly not impressed by them recreating some facades from a 90s Pixar film -- why not let the Imagineers go wild and come up with their own stuff?

I also think it's concerning we don't have any hard details on what's replacing the Muppet Vision Theater.
