If the BTTF tram could somehow stick around for this, I'd probably go. I know Fan Fest is clearly a better value and would be way less crowded, but I oddly have no desire to see it lol

Okay so is the "Prop Plaza" behind Bates Motel returning to the Studio Tour for this event?

Because they mentioned the Hollywood Sign getting a JAWS overlay & also the "photo-op shark returning" (not that it ever left). It'd be nice if the hanging shark got relocated to an in-park location.

Interesting also is they don't list all the themed food options on the website that the IU article had Make it available Universal!!

1) I heard a few days ago from a CM on reddit that they were relocating the Dinosaurs.....so yeah pretty sure that area of the tram for now is dead, which sucks I like the Jurassic films and sucks for less of it to be in park and also the effect at night with the Raptors inside the long truck was cool.

2) People saying Fan fest is not worth it....I just disagree, You don't need express, the actors are amazing, the food is always overpriced event or not its 20 bucks for fish and chips at the three broom sicks....I love HHN but for a general ticket the value here is much greater because for 90% of HHN nights you need to stay late for normal wait times or have express. Fan fest is easily the best after hours event I've been to as a general guest. Disney events cost more and provide less and HHN once again is made for express ticket holders and above.

Here's how I see it...
- I've been to Universal hundreds of times. I have no desire to go on the rides at night. Less lines? Cool, but since I've done them so many times, little appeal (I feel the same way for Disney's themed nights).
- I'm not interested in the IPs, I have zero desire to see any of those attractions.
- The experiences of what they are offering is nothing standout or special. While I do like it is of equal to or more quality even than HHN in terms of set design, I wish they were more passive experiences that I could walk through. I know that sounds CRAZY, but nothing makes you feel more trapped than standing around watching something you're not all that interested in.
- The thing that I am most interested in and that I think actually is worth seeing is the BTTF stuff, but that alone would not be worth it for me, and tacking on stuff I don't care for is not a selling point. I am like anti-interested, that's my level of interest...it literally almost feels like a negative lol
- New drinks and food doesn't appeal to me because that costs more. If they were included in the ticket, I could be persuaded. But alas...
- You will not catch me in a line to take a picture with any character, ever. Photo ops, maybe (I like the BTTF ones), but even that is a pass if it's more than 5-7 people in line.
- Party environment, sure. But I could also do that for free kinda anywhere.
- I'm already going to HHN 100% for sure. That's in 4 months. I can wait at this point.
- What is missing for me? A quality show. If I could do BTTF and see Waterworld at night...or even the Studio Tour attractions?
- And just in general, Fan Nights needs more to do. It needs like 2-3 more Star Trek and D&D level attractions for me to want to go. I'd see it like HHN and I'd want to hit everything, regardless of my interest. With more to do, it doesn't matter at that point really what it is.

That's ofcourse if BTTF returns (which I'm assuming it won't).

Maybe Fan Nights will get me next year if they land some IPs I actually care about. D&D and Star Trek and anime feel TOO down a certain path (I don't WANT to say nerdy...but I'm gonna say nerdy lmao). A full blown Wicked attraction, or something like Batman, or a stop-motion exhibit, a TV museum even if it's just to look at some of their costume warehouse. That I Love Lucy tiny museum they had years ago? Weirdly, it would sell me. It just needs more variety. The Grinch maze they had one year during Grinchmas. Just more...stuff.

I get not having attachment to certain IPs, but I feel like you're being way too hard on the HHN vs FFN comparison in terms of not having enough walkthroughs or things to do when it's only its first year (and I think people who have attachments to the M&Gs and stuff other than the experiences beg to differ); it kind of makes sense that the current scale reflects them testing the waters, but I'd cut it some slack. Especially when they're finally giving a similar kind of after hours event for people who can't handle going to HHN (which conversely, as someone in that crowd due to not liking horror movies, has me usually uninterested and I'm not sure if I'll ever touch it; at least HHN is already successful enough on its own to scare seekers though). I'm certain they'll aim higher if they bring it back.

As for on topic stuff, I'm very excited to see the Hollywood Drift ride vehicle, and I'm really looking forward to that lobster roll. I get the feeling it might be the priciest considering seafood like it and crab already tend to be pricey to get ahold of. I'm also curious to how experiencing the JW stuff will feel, especially on the ride itself.

I'm cutting it slack in the sense I wouldn't say the event sucks, I'm just saying it's not for me. I have been gladly suggesting it to my friends who like those animes, are trekkies, and roll the dice on D&D. But a weird version of cutting something slack is me paying money, going, and enduring all of it and saying, "gee, cool after hours event, thanks Universal!" We don't owe these theme parks owned by mega-conglomerates a dang thing, especially in this economy lol

I said this before but USH gave us 6 months to check out Jujutsu Kaisen, Star Trek, D&D etc

To me its like going through the Blum house house and being like "meh whatever I don't care for these movies...that I have never watched"

The FF haters to me can't answer this simple question, find me an after hours Theme park event for this price with this much extra and value to a general ticket. No lines for most the nights for anything, I looked last night and it was 5 mins to get on everything but JJK (which is a theater show and is always 15 mins at least)

If people don;t want to go cool but I've been and am going tonight the event is awesome and the reason you see like 90+ percent amazing reviews is because the event is fun and has an energy to it like HHN, like when people hate on HHN as well but dont go they are missing on how the park feels. At Fan fest part of the fun is seeing fans dressed up, I saw someone dressed up looking just like Kento Nanami one of my favorite characters from JJK, it was just cool. Plus all the meet and greets I went to had high energy people were loving it. Plus we have for YEARS asked for more live entertainment and we get a cool band playing songs from movies and TV shows.

I didn't even go on normal rides when I went....and it was worth it. Not saying the event is perfect Star Trek could use a lot of help and the Yoshi meet and greet could have been organized better along with food but I've also been to Disneyland after dark events and the food lines/merch lines can such there so seems like just an issue with demand being too high on certain items

But hey if the worst this event gets is mostly people not going saying its not worth it and most guests coming out enjoying it then thats what will really matter to get this event to become bigger each year.

Guys I think we're losing track that this is the "new summer event" thread. Not the FanFest thread. Probably should try to not do full FanFest related essays, even when unfairly comparing a "free" event vs a separately ticketed.

In @DTH defense, this summer event isn't separately ticketed/after park hours, therefore no matter what IPs are included, it is still a better value because you essentially have 10+ hours to enjoy the extras instead of restricted to a 7hr upcharge (4hrs if you're Disneyland After Dark).

On a completely different note, Universal needs to release the full "Mega Movie" menu. The IU article has way more things listed than the USH site.
