"We think this house is going to be one of the most aggressive in the event… I think this one is gonna be that intense, very bloody, very in your face, very intense attacking, kind of scare level. These are tribes of cannibals. They just need to eat. And you their food. It's a conga line of food that's coming into their kazoo."

I'm anticipating a lot of the scares from Halloween from HHN 31 (room of Michael Myers), Insidious from HHN 33 (the Lipstick demon popouts and the finale), and HHN 34's Jason Universe gauntlet. Easily this is my most anticipated Original House this year.

Before anyone starts the "HHN is copying KSF again" conversation:

This idea came out of every year we do a brainstorm week where we have scenic designers, character designers, show directors all come to the table with every idea they can think of. No idea is a bad idea. And last April, we had that meeting and one of our newer scenic designers had the idea for this post-apocalyptic zoo that was infested by this tribe of cannibals because animals were instinct. Humans are cannibals, and they took on the tropes and traits of the animals that once lived in this post apocalyptic zoo... And, we just said 'This is a home run.'

Seems like HHN has been working on this house for well over a year, long before KSF announced it was doing its own zoo house.

And it's entirely plausible that an idea/theme can be conjured at the same time by two unrelated teams and execute said idea in a completely different direction. I'm sure this house will be fun to repeat over at least once.

Devils advocate: Even if it is a idea KSF used and they are "copying", they would never outwardly admit that.

Their original post-apocalyptic house concepts tend to be pretty good. I hope that the zoo setting helps it stand apart from previous iterations.

I’m still having a hard time picturing how this will play out, so I’ll regard it with cautious optimism and it will stay on the lower half of my hype list for now.

I swear if there are real Chainsaws in this house (not the trigger kind like in HHN 33, but the “Real” ones from TCM) I am gonna skip this on most nights, lol.

Now that we've got a better idea of the concept...

As a preface, I've said it before and I'll say it again, when it comes to monsters I lean towards the beastly/animal/creature side of things. A post-apocalyptic zoo is absolutely up my alley, but the choice of it being cannibals instead of hybrids/mutant animals is personally disappointing in that regard.

For me, this house is gonna' be riding on how the cannibals look. If they're all geared up to look more beastly than human, I'll happily take that! If not, then this concept is "Close, but no Cigar...", a literal imitation of what the concept could've been.

I do have faith the team can pull it off, but in terms of anticipation it will be on the lower side as the monster choice is not one that excites me.
