I’ve been playing Metroid Prime 4: Beyond recently, and just hear me out: a Metroid Vi-O-La launch coaster (or fast dark ride)!

So now that all is said and done...

I really have to wonder if we ever see anything in the parks for Stranger Things. With spinoffs coming, I do think the IP will have staying power for a very long time.

Unlikely (outside HHN presumably this year).

EDIT: I just went to the Netflix House in Philadelphia and thoroughly enjoyed myself (Philly has One Piece and Wednesday as the 2 big IP drawn experiences).

We did the Wednesday experience, but in Philly, Stranger Things is limited to a VR experience.

I know the one in Texas is a full-on experience, but they've also said these experiences are going to rotate.

I also don't know that this would necessarily prohibit a full theme park land/attraction from existing either!

Although it is very popular, I don't think Stranger Things lends itself particularly well to a land or a ride.

If we do end up getting a new permanent attraction based on a modern horror franchise, I feel like FNAF is a lot more likely. FNAF feels perfectly suited for a ride (there has been an official pitch before), and Universal already has a strong internal relationship with the property, as they have distributed the films.

I've actually never seen the FNAF ride pitch!

I think ST could lend itself well to a ride, but unfortunately/fortunately, we already have a ride that involves riding bikes lol

Not disagreeing, just saying it's unlikely, yanno what i mean? They're going as far as they want into a controlled immersive atmosphere with these Netflix House builds so i find it hard to think they'd want to share a profit with a theme park to go full-time in a land. Maybe something like an Unleashed involvement/merger/partnership? Hard to say.

But yes, @mccgavin , that Sally Dark Rides pitch for FNaF is legendary stuff. Shame we never got it anywhere.
Would fit right in at any Universal Studios park.

In 2016, Sally Dark Rides got permission from Scott Cawthon to develop a FNAF dark ride. They tried shopping it around to multiple parks, but nobody ever ended up approving it.

Put this in the Toon Lagoon discussion, but wanted to add more details here.

Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom at Universal Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando Resort.
1769623969411.png

This project, like my previous Jaws/BTTF Blue Sky submissions, is an overhaul of an existing park area. Toon Lagoon is a great foundation of a theme park land... but it's current IP is outdated and severely irrelevant to today's audiences. While I like the idea of keeping an all encompassing land with several Cartoon-related characters, SpongeBob is one of the last remaining underutilized IPs available that can sustain an entire land. Just like Potter, it has recognizable revenue drivers like food & beverage items (Krabby Patty, Kelp Shake, etc.), merchandise and locales to reference (Jellyfish Fields, Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob's house, etc.).

Aesthetics
  • You first enter the "Glove World" section (from MSHI) of the land with familiar theming. The musical is located in the Glove World Theatre. From there, you enter Bikini Bottom and find SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward's house, the Krusty Krab restaurant and other familiar locations. Downtown Bikini Bottom is in the distance (Ripsaw facade). The Popeye area becomes bright and colorful with jellyfish everywhere.

Attractions
  • Glove World Spin (New Build) - ideally a carbon copy of the Zamperla Watermania flat ride at Universal Kids Resort... but open to any other flat ride. If anything, I love the Dumbo-style flat being added there, and wouldn't mind that here with One Fish, Two Fish removed in favor of a Grinch attraction.
  • Boating School Mayhem (Ripsaw Falls) - a retheme of Ripsaw Falls where guests are invited to partake in their own boating school adventure... only something goes wrong.
  • Jellyfish Field Rapids (Popeye's & Bluto's) - SpongeBob has invited you to follow him on a Jellyfish hunt... only for Plankton to steal the Krabby Patty formula and leads you to the Flying Dutchman.
  • The Flying Dutchman (Me Ship, The Olive) - retheme of MeShip play area
Food & Beverage
  • Krusty Krab Restaurant (Comic Strip Cafe) - serving the infamous Krabby Patty, Coral Bits (cheese curds), Kelp Fries (pickle-seasoned fries), Kelp Shake (Pina Colada flavor) and Seafoam Soda (the land's take on a Butterbeer - pineapple flavored)
  • Krusty Krab Too - To-Go Window (Cathy's Ice Cream)
  • Plankton's Chum Bucket (Blondie's) - mainly serving seafood dishes (calamari, fried fish sticks, sandwiches, etc.)
  • Kelp Stand (Poop Deck Pappy's Popcorn) - Kelp Shake, Kelp Fries, Kelp Popcorn (unique pickle-flavored popcorn)
  • Goofy Goober's Ice Cream Parlor (Wimpy's) - replaces Cathy's, with unique ice-cream dishes.
  • Goo Lagoon Snacks (Ale to the Chief) - alcoholic beverages & snacks featuring pineapple
  • Sea Shack (Frostbite Freezes) - standard park stand
Entertainment
  • SpongeBob SquarePants - The Musical (Toon Amphitheatre)... not sure if the best choice, but IOA needs entertainment [Alternative is a Family Dark Ride]
  • Meet SpongeBob SquarePants & Friends (UOAP Lounge) - M&G space
  • The Great Krabby Patty Heist - an interactive game throughout the land on the Universal Play section of the UOR app. Using a (for purchase) Magic Conch ($49.99 + tax, no AP discounts), guests can roam several touchpoints throughout the land to activate unique elements. A lot of the unique elements will be located in the lagoon adjacent walkways to improve usage of that back area.
Retail
  • Barg n' Mart (Toon Extra)
  • Salty Splitoon (Wossamotta U)
  • Sandy's Shack (Gasoline Alley)
  • Gary's Stand (Popeye's Cart)
  • Ms. Puff's Boating School Gear (Cart Next to Caricatures)

Other Random Stuff
  • This is very random, but I really hate the Spider-Man outdoor extended queue along with being able to see the showbuilding. Considering the attraction barely uses 1/2 the available outdoor queue area, I'll fill it in with a forested area to cover a portion of the showbuilding, while the rest can receive a flat facade (or painted) to appear as a city landscape.
  • I would updated both water rides (Popeye and Ripsaw) to, if possible, feature a "flag system" that can tell guests what level of soaking they can expect that day - Red for Extreme (every water feature on), Green for Moderate (external effects off)

This is by far the #1 thing I've read in this thread that I would want.

Spongebob is truly one of the last untapped massive IPs who could draw in a big crowd, I think. (Lord of the Rings is probably the other one)
