USF is left fighting for scraps if Pokemon and WICKED* end up elsewhere.

I don't care about the franchise either, but placing a somewhat classic IP that is closely aligned to The Wizard of Oz fits best in USF. I'd prefer Wicked in IOA (gives the park entertainment) but if Pokemon is in fact the LC location, it leaves Epic or USF.

Assuming they use the sprung tent area when replacing Springfield, that area has the chance to be something really special. I assume there's room to add more new tents back next to the ones that opened last year?

If you look at the map I created, you can easily add an additional 2-3 more with enough queue space left. It was very strategic of them to put those newer tents back there. You also have an area behind Trollercoaster that can fit another tent. This year's HHN also utilized all but one soundstage for the event... so once FF coaster opens and they get some queue space back, they can potentially add another house back there.

One of my biggest areas of intrigue will be what that area looks like after expansion!

If they’re gonna build a 4th dry park, LOTR isn’t needed at Epic. I still think a Nintendo expansion is more needed than another portal in that expansion pad. So, if I’m in charge!

2027: F&F Coaster AND BTTF re-do of Supercharged. ET closes for full refurb.
2028: Pokémon at IOA, ET major refurb opens.
2029: Focus on new hotels on Epic plot
2030: Luigi’s Mansion expansion. Indoor land, similiar to KFP in Beijing. Omnimover dark ride, 2 flats, and a food booth for quick service.
2031: Construction begins on 4th dry park
2032: Wicked opens at Epic Universe.

Post 2032 feels Simpsons plot, maybe a Dreamworks ride, or a TL retheme. This feels somewhat realistic to me personally.

Map Key -> Purple is existing structure, yellow is new/rethemed/repurpose.

There's a lot of smaller improvements/changes, but the overall idea is to get USF as proper theme park that doesn't need events to boost itself. With that said, events are obviously necessary so there still needs to be space for them.

Pressing Priorities
  • The Park Entrance is outdated. I personally enjoy the studio theme, but out of all the theme park entrance in Orlando... USF is the worst offender. I would create an art-deco motif throughout the area. The ticket booths in front of the turnstile are gone and replaced with more ample space. The studio store is expanded and given zones for each IP. Villain-Con replaced with an Epic Movie Ride experience. Similar footprint to Transformers. I'd make this a trackless vehicle throughout various Universal films. The BMG theater is used for seasonal shows and is gated off by Minion Mayhem's current entrance whenever not in use.
  • I'm not fan of Minion Land's current appearance... as it feels very much shoved in. I'd like to give the Minion Mayhem attraction a proper facade with new neighborhood like facades like USH/USJ and more greenery. Music Plaza Stage is replaced with facade work (of Super Silly Fun Land) and a Silly Swirly flat ride (like Dumbo, copy from USH). This will provide the area kinetics and something for kids to do. The Minion Land facing side of Transformers is given either a Gru-Labs paint job or a Super Silly Fun Land scheme. Trees are placed between the spinner and NY to provide a buffer and hide the unthemed side of the Fallon showbuilding.
  • New York remains mostly unchanged, with the F&F coaster coming online and the only major change being Ghostbusters retheme of the existing Fallon ride system. The Tribute Store location (Macy's) is returned to Mummy (1-2 rooms) while the remaining is given a smaller seasonal store. (I think they can support multiple tribute store locations versus 1). The Palace Arcade is taken over by the Museum of Antiquities displaying HHN exhibits and year-round tribute store.
  • Hill Valley replaces San Francisco. I've mentioned this before if you want to see more info on it.
  • The Land of Wicked takes over MIB and FFL. MIB's current plot is split between half of the ride showbuilding and an indoor-section of the Wicked land. The bulk of the land is indoors with a Knockturn-style appearance but almost the size of the entire Diagon Alley area. A Wizomania street shows plays (like Diagon's shows) and the main E-ticket is a inverted-EMV style (Spider-Man but in a Hot Air Balloon). The other major attraction is a Wicked stage show. The land also continues a mini Munchkin-land area.
  • Amity returns as the replacement for Springfield. All of the existing infrastructure is kept, but given a New England seaside village aesthetic. More trees are planted to give it a sense of location and a new seaside lounge replaces Twirl 'n' Hurl.
  • DreamWorks gets a major capacity boost with 2 new flat rides and 2 new dark rides. A major Shrek dark ride takes over Animal Actors, while Trolls (or Kung Fu Panda) replaces the old parade building. Two new flat rides (a carousel and Waveswinger) add more kinetics to the area.
  • Hollywood's major improvement is relocating ET's entrance to the NBC Media center. Cafe La Bamba is replaced with a new themed lounge called Spielberg's with uniquely themed rooms and drinks. This park's Beak & Barrel.

HHN
  • With BTTF likely being more popular than F&F (and need the queue space) and Wicked/Jaws taking over some BoH spaces occupied by HHN tents... there is the potential for 5 new house locations. You can add 3 tents adjacent to the two new ones, and even one behind the Trolls Trollercoaster (same size as Fallout/Galkn). If they want to be more ambitious, you can create a proper entertainment back of house space behind Hollywood that can hold the entertainment teams on the 2nd floor, while space is reserved for a house on the first. (You can actually fit two houses here if you wanted to spread crowds even more).

This is INCREDIBLE. Wow. No notes other than you should work for Creative lol.

I don’t think much Disney fans are really clamoring for old rides to return (except for Splash Mountain, but those for… other reasons). And what‘s wrong with it replacing Springfield, not like it’s going to stay too soon?

To be fair, if F&F + San Fran really is being rethemed to Hill Valley, I don't think an Amity return is too much of a blue sky stretch.

The only reason I'm against Disney or Universal building another park, is that I don't want them to neglect their current parks. But in a perfect world, we'd have a new park and new attractions/lands at the existing parks.

Strongly agree. Unfortunately, the other parks go in budget hell mode when a new park is constructed/opened.

Agree 100%. It really seems like Universal has already been testing response to the classics with the merch/experiences they’be been putting out over the last few years. There’s frequently questions about the classics like BTTF and Jaws in surveys. We had the classic movies parade and other similar experiences. They are always churning out merch for the classics like Jaws and BTTF. Especially given that the rumors of BTTF is returning seems to be legitimate and holding weight, why is it so crazy to think Jaws could return? I’d also argue that the same stuff Universal did years ago bringing more monster merch and reintroducing them via HHN was the same method before they brought us Darkmoor in Epic. One could argue it’s just satiating nostalgia and isn’t leading up to anything more permanent but I don’t think we can discredit it as not leading up to something more either.

I'm still not going to believe the resurgence of USF's classic IPs as new attractions until I see it...

... but I'd love to see it. JAWS and BACK TO THE FUTURE, as films, are too important to the legacy of the entire company to not have significant representation in the theme parks.

  1. This is Blue Sky.
  2. Instead of posting unnecessary negative comments, why don't you offer a counter blue-sky design/attraction?

I gotta agree. This is a thread called "Let's *play* being head of Universal Creative." Emphasis on play, as in not bound to reality. The entire purpose of this thread is to go Blue Sky, logic and what's "realistic" need not apply. I don't get the negativity.

Good to know I’m not the only one uncomfortable with that “terminal Disney brain” post, that was rude and uncalled for considering what type of thread this is.

This is very early. But why not... 4th Dry Gate speculation.

Universal's Kingdom of Legends Theme Park (I suck at naming things)

1762360865848.png

This assumes the cancellation of Six Flags' DC licensing agreement and that LOTR is being left off as the anchor for a 4th dry gate.

Mythica
The park's entrance land, mostly indoors and in perpetual twilight. Leans into Ancient Greek mythology (more than Epic Universe) and far more obvious. Inside you will find your typical gift shops, guest services and Starbucks. Once outside, you are welcomed by a large mountain landscape emulating Santorini. A table service restaurant is located at the bottom, along with a (gasp!) original dark ride. This would be Universal's Pirates of the Caribbean.

Could also make this a newer version of The Lost Continent. Heck, if Mythos is gone at IOA... that could be the name of the table service restaurant.

DC Universe
Built at a similar scale to Ministry of Magic, split into two locales - Metropolis and Gotham City. A Superman dark ride (similar to Spider-Man) is hosted here. Batman gets a dark ride in Gotham City with an inverted Kuka-arm attraction. The Joker gets a Mack Extreme Spinner coaster with multiple launches - this park's Stardust Racers. The land is explorable and detailed just as Ministry is.

Middle Earth
Similar to DC Universe, split into two different sections - Hobbiton & Rivendell. Both are beautiful, but Rivendell will rival Disney's Pandora in natural beauty. Hobbiton is home to a Na'vi River-esque dark ride, while Rivendell is home to a major E-ticket dark ride.

Kung Fu Panda - Land of Awesomeness
A carbon copy of Beijing's land.

Bikini Bottom - Home of SpongeBob Squarepants
SpongeBob finally gets a proper theme park land and dark ride. Also home to a Krusty Krab.

This is a very ambitious/wild Blue Sky. If Wicked ends up taking the large expansion pad at Epic Universe, this leaves LOTR as the headliner for a 4th gate.
