After reading about the alleged issues going on with Fast and Furious in that thread, I think Monty has a shot at opening before F&F does. Not sure what else they need to do to open it.

Please forgive the triple posts, but Screamscape posted an interesting update on Monty:

They’re saying that they heard that softs could start Tuesday the 14th and they’re hoping to “grand open” but next Friday.

If this is true, looks like Monty will beat F&F!

Question: I haven't been following the construction of this since it was delayed a long time ago, then I randomly saw an advertisement for it at McDonalds of all places lol -- is this literally going to be the same ride just with some extra theming?

Short answer: Essentially, yes.

Long-winded answer: It is the same with brand new track, completely new trains with seatbelt-style OTSRs (Which shouldn’t be terrible), the flywheel launch being replaced with LSMs, and of course extra theming.

There’s a rumor that there will be a randomized occurrence where the train will embark on a bonus launch where is starts backwards.

There is some question as to whether the random backwards launch is still happening at this time. While the ride has been testing pretty frequently, has anyone seen a backwards launch test? There's rumors the backwards launch has been scrapped (for now, at least). If there's any footage of a backwards launch test, I'd love to know and see it, because I haven't run across it yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if, after all this time it's take to work, they add in a backwards launch later, once it's proved its reliability.

I went to the Park on Saturday....they should have the World Cup every weekend, lol

Crowds were low until 4ish

Ghost Town alive is pretty amazing, so much happening. So many actors and story lines, plus they change it every year? So cool

I saw both shows, I saw the Birdcage show last year and its a fun little show themed to cowboys and the Saloon show is fun as well but hard to get a spot for without longgggg camps out in seats

I got to see the shoot out which I would say is the coolest moment at the event, but talking to the people its just really a special event. I am surprised Disney see's this but can't imagine doing something like this in Star Wars GE, like you promised us a living land and Knotts shows it can be done

I liked getting to vote even if my side didn't win

Then the Country Band and 80s bands were amazing, along with seeing Krazy Kirk, I got 8ish concerts in a night just an insane day, I was so tired by the end. I went on 3 rides as well with no lines and not using fast lane.

Knotts gets a 10/10 for their summer event besides little things like adding characters to dance at the DJ area the event is near perfect for now and maybe one day a Drone show to be the goodnight kiss but the core of what is here is insane for the ticket prices...I paid 175 and a day like Saturday felt like that alone made it worth it

$20 million Montezooma coaster is ‘like a brand new ride,’ Knott’s president says

The new Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress could soft open ahead of the ride’s official debut on July 20.

Probably related to the four year delay

That's what you get when you purposely go for the "cheapest" route for a project.

Yeah, thats insane

Maybe it had to do with the merger but I hope Six Flags gets better at this then again look at MM where the coaster over their is like 2 years behind

I don't know what it is with CA ans coasters but always seems like something, journey to atlantis (sea world) redo also has issues and took I think a year longer then first promised

Not being a local, the only thing I can think of are changing regulations that require more work than initially intended. Though, that makes no sense as those parks know the reg's well enough that there shouldn't be any surprises. Changing to LSM's would increase the cost as well plus any additional theming (though that looks less impactful to the cost). I wonder if they had some sunk costs that they are including when they had to change coaster companies.
