Also very interesting to hear that they had footers poured for a new coaster. I wonder what it was going to be?

I'd take a guess that it was coaster rider as it opened in 2013 and they stated this all started in 2011.

Its already been discussed a bunch over the last decade that THAT coaster was the Hyper everyone wanted Knotts to get. I forget where but there was other quotes from Matt about how it was gonna ruin the parks vibe and themeing even more. Its also why we keep getting Hyper/Giga rumors because at one point we were very close to one being announced back then.

Honestly, the park doesn't need it. They need more rides, but not that.

Of course what's interesting & dumb, is that Camp Snoopy lost 4 rides (Timberline Twister, Camp Bus, Ferris Wheel & Huff n Puff) during the current renovation. Coaster for a coaster, flat ride for a flat ride. But still two less rides.

No, it says in that quote that it was a high thrill ride and that it was canceled. Probably the hyper that survey flags were placed around the park for at around the same time.

You're not wrong, but I bet capacity will be slightly higher overall or at least even.

First, Swing for Ferris wheel. I assume it has slightly better capacity, it loads 16 at a time, and probably has like a 90 sec cycle. Will def get through more people than the wheel. Plus better sight-lines

2nd - Huff and Puff was only like 6 kids every few minutes and only kids. Doubling the size of the jeep ride, will combine to more capacity than the old jeep ride and huff and puff.

3rd - Timberline Twister sat 12 people, the new coaster sits 20, so maybe not enough to also off-set the camp bus. But I think this new ride will def be more popular than both of those companied and should have a slight bigger and longer queues conatnlty. So id say they are even.

4th, we also don't know if the new train will also increase capacity ever so slightly. If its a "train ride" and not an actual train, maybe we get two slightly smaller trains instead of one.

5th, we get the new theater too which looks to be quite a bit bigger and I'm sure more people will chill there when there's not a show than they did before at the old stage

However, we do lose a sitting/rest area though, and yes we do still have 2 less rides. But overall its an improvement.

I just love living in a timeline where Knott's is doubling down on Camp Snoopy and the Peanuts at large. Don't ask me any other questions about what I think about living in this timeline.

I was at the park for half a day yesterday. It was quite crowded (as expected) and (unfortunately) Timber Mountain Log Ride is still quite closed for its seasonal refurbishment. Xcelerator is still running just one train with the other fully disassembled in the maintenance area.

Construction is moving along nicely in Camp Snoopy. The renovated gift shop looks quite nice and you can tell that, throughout the park, little maintenance projects have been completed. The fountain near Beary Tales was running as well as I've ever seen it and if you pay attention, you'll notice plenty of fresh paint around the park.

IMG_3132.jpegIMG_3131.jpeg

Montezooma's Revenge appears to be fully disassembled outside the station. There was no work actively happening, but I wouldn't think there's much of a rush at this point.

We really enjoy going for Boysenberry Festival but it's a bit of a bummer that so many food and drink stands don't open until after noon, especially on a crowded Sunday. I have a few theories on why they stagger the opening of their food stands, but it's kind of a shame that the park isn't fully open until a couple hours after the rope drops.

Anyway! Glad spring break is finally over so the opportunity for less crowded visits will return for a couple months.

The renovated store in Camp Snoopy is really nice! A big improvement over what it was.

Not gonna bring up the photos--but the surveys going for other Cedar Fair parks are also trickling to Knotts too.

The tower coaster concept and the dark coaster concept have been noted for survey's.

We were at the park yesterday largely because we had 1230 reservations at Mrs. Knott's (my wife has never been). We were able to get on Xcelerator, Silver Bullet and the Calico Mine Ride without much waiting.

We're still looking at single-train operation for just about every coaster in the park, save Silver Bullet. I couldn't tell if Ghostrider was running two trains, but the operations are so painfully slow that it's hard to tell the difference without being inside the station. The park, unsurprisingly given the wonderful weather and it being a weekend, was packed.

Camp Snoopy construction is progressing nicely but didn't notice any work at Montezooma. Of course, now that they have until next May to get it done, that shouldn't be much of a surprise. Timber Mountain Log Ride remains closed — it's been nearly four months — and I haven't been able to get an answer on its status. The logs remain strewn across the grass by the Xcelerator queue.

To top it all off, I received a call at 1100 that our reservation had been canceled because they were exclusively seating for the Boysenberry Brunch. I asked the employee on the phone: 1) Then why did your website allow me to make the reservation? 2) Why did you wait until the day of the reservation to call me? 3) Can I change my reservation for the brunch?

The answers were: I don't know. We don't look farther in advance than one day. No.

I politely expressed my frustration and that was the end of it. I'm a broken record on this, but the operations at this park stink out loud and really undercut the good work done by other departments. We've got season passes with free parking — which rules, because we can go casually like we used to do at Disneyland many, many years ago. But at this point, despite the great price, we're unlikely to renew. I'm glad we gave it a go, but Knott's is going to go back to a park I do once a year during Scary Farm for the time being.

This is a bummer to hear. My wife and I also have Season Passes, and we *try* to visit at least once to each seasonal event outside of Scary Farm. The park has made really great strides recently and it is a shame that poor operations can sometimes overshadow those accomplishments. I really hope they can find a way to improve on them.

Yeah, there’s a lot of good regarding how the park looks and creativity around their various festivals. But they need a root and branch overhaul when it comes to their operations, whether that’s in food service or ride operations.

The entire park operations in general are a complete incompetent dumpster fire, some departments worse than others (depending on the day), but this also includes Scary Farm operations.. :eyes::skull:

That's all I'll say on the matter (for now)

We were back at the park on Wednesday and I snapped a few photos of the ongoing Camp Snoopy construction. Not much to see, save for the roller coaster which had work actively going on. I assume a lot of the flat rides will be quick, easy installs, but my guess is we're seeing a phased opening that doesn't begin until June.

Edit: Totally forgot to mention that Timber Mountain Log Ride is back open! Unfortunately, Ghostrider is closed once again, as is the Calico Mine Ride. Log Ride looks great, though.

This article (link below) says the opening of camp snoopy has been confirmed to be pushed back from the original opening of late May.
"The new timeframe likely pushes back the full return of Camp Snoopy to late June or early July."
Based on current progress it seems like most of camp snoopy should be open by July.
I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of the rides don't open until August.
Knott’s Berry Farm pushes back opening date for Camp Snoopy makeover

This is a great piece that sums up why we aren’t renewing our Knott’s Berry Farm season passes.

I have noticed ops grow considerably worse since the park reopened post-pandemic. It’s pretty bad now.

I (very) briefly worked at Knott’s when the park re-opened and I was in between jobs. I remember going to the Target in Buena Park after work one day and seeing them advertising hourly rates $3 higher than Knott’s.

I just don’t know how you retain good employees if you aren’t willing to compete on pay. Disneyland can get away with this to a degree, but having worked at both … that’s at least partially because it’s a much, much nicer place to work.

All to say, I think you’re absolutely right and I don’t think Cedar Fair and Six Flags are currently willing to do what they need to in order to course correct.
