Any ideas what it would be? Probably not some sort of massive coaster I assume.

Either a Gerstlauer Infinity or Intamin Blitz. The Intamin would be a "renewed relationship" more so than Gerstlauer, but it will be interesting to see. A lot of people think it will be an Intamin Surfrider. There is a lot more room they've cleared than that will take up. They moved the walls out further yesterday for more space.

Knott's Scary Farm

I will mention, that perhaps it'd be a good idea to put up sections for Knotts and Magic Mountain, similar to what is done for SeaWorld on the Orlando Side; to differentiate it as those two are big for SoCal.

@Chris Galindo has mentioned that it may be some form of Eurofighter, one that may have two lifts.

DP.

It was announced (With technical mishaps) that the new addition to 2018 is a Infinity Coaster by the name of Hangtime.

My excitement is hampered by the execution of the announcement.

They didn't come up of a plan B for announcing it, and that they had to rush through to get to the site tour. Meanwhile, I can say that Twisted Timber's announcment isn't the more..poor of the announcements for today.

Looks great, but I am not impressed. Knott's has done exceptional livestreams, and brought the AP's to share with the announcements of stuff like the Haunt. They should've handled it better, and that is going to stay in my head for the night on a sour note.

HangTime | First Dive Coaster On the West Coast | Knott's Berry Farm

kbfhangtime1.JPG
Knott’s Berry Farm will welcome HangTime, a brand new steel rollercoaster - and the only dive coaster on the West Coast - to the theme park during the 2018 summer season. HangTime will tower 150 feet over the Boardwalk area, showcasing gravity-defying inversions, mid-air suspensions and twisting dive tracks.
kbf-hangtime-logo.png

HangTime will send riders up a vertical lift hill into a raised 96-degree drop - the steepest drop in California. The coaster’s train will come to a halt once the highest peak is reached, and will leave riders suspended at the crest for several seconds at a 60-degree angle, giving the illusion of a disappearing track. Then the train will suddenly descend in a beyond-vertical drop, through 2,198 feet of steel track and five gravity-defying inversions. HangTime will be only the second rollercoaster in the Western Hemisphere to feature a negative-g stall loop, which gives riders the sensation of floating.

HangTime’s ride structure itself will come to life and illuminate the Boardwalk area with colorful nighttime track chase lighting that will accompany the coaster train’s travels across the smooth steel track. The coaster continues Knott’s legacy in rollercoaster innovation and industry firsts; the park introduced the very first corkscrew inversion rollercoaster with Corkscrew, and the first flywheel launch coaster with Montezuma’s Revenge.

Guests can experience an entire season of fun including the thrill of HangTime with a 2018 Knott’s Season Pass, on sale now at the best price of the year. A Regular Season Pass includes unlimited admission in 2018 to Knott’s Berry Farm with no blackout dates, and a Gold Season Pass includes unlimited admission in 2018 to both Knott’s Berry Farm and the newly expanded Knott’s Soak City Waterpark with no blackout dates.

Glad to see that Monster has insprired them to do something unique with the lighting. Should potentially bring interesting ideas for KSF next year..

I find the holding brake insanely dumb.

I have to see more activity if those areas are going to get dedicated sections. Scary Farm only has 2 replies. I have no problem adding them when that time comes.

Finally the guessing games have ended. Finally. Screamscape did call it though.

Well, I was hoping for something a bit more. It wasn't quite as height and drop weren't as crazy as I was hoping, there's no crazy barrel roll, and the entire coaster is restrained to that site….which is a slight letdown. I think that's on me since I really took the rumors to far and gave my hopes up for something like Cannibal at Lagoon Park (Which I will have the privilege to ride Labor Day weekend! Yee YEE!). The initial announcement had me going like, "oh."

Now that my expectations have been humbled, looking at the layout I'm actually stoked for this. This looks like it will be a very underrated ride. The drop should be really fun and it looms like there will be a couple of great pops of airtime (That double-down tho!) I really hope we get some crazy hang time on that loop like they promised. Plus, I agree with Galin. That holding brake is so pointless and lame.

I remember a while back before the rumors came in that "OMGZ DA COASTER IS GUNNA BE THE HYPERS" when we heard it would be something with Gertslauer (Slaughtered the spelling, I know), that I was hoping for something like Monster at Adventureland. I'm pleased to see it's essentially that, but taller. Being that the ride looks pretty similar, I think we're going to be in for a great ride.

Oh, and notice that there seems to be a lot of space at the back of that plot. Are they saving that for a flat or two?

Thats what I was wondering too. I was hoping the coaster would basically do a air time hill after the cobra roll, maybe a helix or a turn around in the open plot, maybe a splash pool?

I was also hoping for some minimal rock work like the CGA Raptor coaster, but oh well.

Excited for the double down into then cobra roll and the Stall element.

Yeah, it's a bit shorter than I would want it to be. I really hope they're saving up for something big for the park's 100th in 2020.

I don't feel one way or the other about the holding brake, but the GP totally loves watching it.

Call me crazy, but I would've preferred next year to be about Fiesta Village, with a massive revamp for that area similar to what Camp Snoopy was. Wait till 2020 for a massive coaster, one that would go over the western side of the park.

And I don't mean a new attraction to call it a day for Fiesta Village.

It's a nice addition to One of Gerstlauer's staples.

I'd rather have had the verticle lift that has the drop tower effect before cresting the hill for the beyond vertical drop like the built at Hansa Park.

After recently riding Karnan I'd initially agree, the World needs more of them. However the throughput is destroyed due to the faff it has to do every time, can't imagine that'd work in a park like Knotts.

I think this looks like a solid coaster for the park. I think back row going over that holding brake should be amazing. Takabisha in Japan has a similar design and even with just two rows it really whips you over.
