The more of the industrial aesthetic I see, the more I like it.

It looks like Zephyrhills I think so not inpark. Guessing a workman left it when the panels were being installed.
#bottlewatch2020 underway!

Additional foliage?? How’s about REAL foliage! I spy bamboo, queen palm - Syagrus romanzoffiana
, and one of my favorites, clustering fishtail palm - Caryota mitas.

There will probably be a ton of young chinese fan palms - Livistona chinensis as they really complete the jungle look and grow so slowly they will require very little maintenance.

Sorry just hear for my weekly gushing over this coaster. Easily my most anticipated Universal attraction atm. I just cannot wait to see this all together!

Walking through today felt very Jurassic to me. There’s still so much peaking out above the walls that it actually makes them not even feel too tall. If they’re able to put some trees in front in a few key spots it’ll be even better, but it’s further back away from the path so nowhere near as claustrophobic as when the work walls were up.

Do we think we could see portions of these work walls come down and for them to simply landscape and use the paddock walls as the work walls?

Obviously work walls in the areas the paddock walls aren't; but if they get some plantings in, why couldn't they remove some large sections and open the area up even more?

I really like the looks of the "paddock". It keeps a little mystery to the coaster from passers by, may help with a little noise, and shows an enclosure for a dinosaur.

This has been my hope. Take down a couple sections of the work walls so landscaping can come in and do their job. Will make the pathway feel so much better than it does now. For safety though, they may need them X amount of feet away from live construction, I'm not sure. But I hope so.

Universal Fans: "This looks AWESOME!!!!"

Disney Fans: "Universal needs to stop building bare steel, themeless, six flags parking lot scream machines. This abomination is an assault to the very concept of themed entertainment.

RULE #1: Hide the track. EPIC FAIL!

RULE #2: Must accommodate infant lap seating and be pacemaker friendly. EPIC FAIL!

RULE #3: Hide the show buildings. FAIL!

(Sigh) With Potter Universal showed a glimmer of hope, but alas, they are just a Six Flags with a $160 ticket."

Disney: For our 50th anniversary in 2021, we are excited to open up two new roller...

Universal: *Unleashes the world's best overall coaster experience*

(FWIW I'm also really looking forward to Tron and GOTG, I love Disney, but Velocicoaster is a jaw-dropping project and no snarky comments from shills will convince me otherwise)

But you can see the track!?! If Disney built this they would hide the track in a high tech light refracting show building rendering it invisible to the naked eye.

I wonder if the water bottle will have the same effect as the gatorade bottle, and people will arrive from all over the world in the tens of thousands on opening day and backing up into Citywalk?

I know this is a site for the Universal faithful, but why must everything here always eventually come back to Universal vs. Disney? And usually in the most uncharitable terms possible?

The answer lies in the question

this is a site for the Universal faithful

In all seriousness though, I think it has to do with the “big brother, little brother” image that exists between the two companies. For so many years Universal was seen as the weaker resort, an afterthought to a family’s “Disney vacation”. Since Potter in 2010, Universal has gained massive notoriety, stealing market share and fans from WDW. The resort has “grown up” per say, and thus the two fan bases kinda argue over which is better, as if they were two rival sports teams.

It’s a stupid beef amongst fans, but a great one to have between the two resorts. Both sides tend to put out their best work when the other one is trying to steal vacation bookings from each other.

To me, it’s no coincidence that Hagrid & RoTR open in the same year, or that WDW’s 50th will be competing against possibly the best coaster in Orlando when the JP Coaster opens.

I, too, wish we were better at being able at to do this.

However it's only natural. It's like comparing Coke and Pepsi. They are the two leaders in what they do, so it's just natural to compare. I just don't like it when we go overboard with it and get slanted/biased in how we look at it.

And in my own defense, I was asking semi-rhetorically. I know the histories of the fanbases.

But as somebody whose first substantial memories of visiting Orlando in 1993 involve both Universal Studios Florida and Walt Disney World (there was a 1991 WDW trip that is only extremely fragmentary in my memory at this point), they've always been fairly equivalent in my affections. Some periods I'll favor one over the other, but they generally average out.

It has never crossed my mind that I need to "pick one," even during the times when I think one might be doing something better/worse than the other.

That's what I don't get. I get comparing and stuff, but never the need to pick one like it's a sports team. We can enjoy both.

I think that it has become a Adult vs Child argument as well. People with young ones feel more comfortable at Disney. Not to support Disneyhead's post but my parents loved Disney because, for the first time, my mother was able to ride everything. When I was young and The Beast was new, she always waited patiently with a book or crossword puzzle while we braved the hour-plus lines. Okay, I waited with her but I was 9 and hadn't found the nerves to brave any coaster. What I hear with families with older kids is that UNI/IOA is the place to go because the rides are more grown-up oriented. They still enjoy Disney but UNI/IOA fits their ride appetite more successfully. Then, it becomes a matter of nostalgia and feel. Of course, everyone is a little different but the argument is flawed at its heart because of the target audience for each resort and the hardheaded fan bases involved.

Myself, I love the Disney & Universal parks fairly equally. But Universal gets the nod because the resort hotels/parks campus is inherently easier to navigate, and no pre planning is necessary, thus transferring into
a more leisurely relaxing vacation.Bigger is not always better. ...And back to the Jurassic coaster...I'm not a coaster freak anymore, but I believe it will be a big asset to IOA and the JP land.
