Just to stimulate some convo, here's a pic of the current plot of Jurassic Park at IOA:

The areas shaded red are areas that can be re-purposed (small addition or decent size). Purple shaded area is Camp Jurassic area which I feel can either be decreased or redone.

I'd take the space between the Discovery Center and Forbidden Journey instead, so you force people coming from Hogsmeade to the front of the Discovery Center, which looks far better than the back, plus has the lagoon view (something which is quite wasted at the moment - they should open that up more for dining). That then combines the various spots they could use.

Edit: would also have the benefit of taking out a pathway from where the FJ show building is most visible.

I'm almost embarrassed by my previous guess. Considering the record breaking weekend, I would say that this may end up being in the top 5 highest grossing films of all time. Something comfortably in the $1.6b range.

Don't be, there were some earlier in the thread predicting it won't get over a billion. Though picking between $800,000 and $1,1000,000,000 seems a little too wide ;-)

Reading back there was a lot of scepticism on here about JW and its potential to basically be a success. I can't help but wonder if the same feelings were going around UC, hence the location of Kong. In fact perhaps not just UC - wasn't there an event like ComicCon where the audience thought they were going to see the Jurassic World trailer and instead got Skull Island and gave a rather muted reception?

Blue Sky: I'd like to see the exhibits in the Discovery Center better reflect what's in the Hammond Creation Lab, for starters. Mr. DNA deserves to be in HD. I see the south side of the Discovery Center becoming the station for the Gyrospheres (I don't know how they'd work out the capacity but I'm sure they could figure it out). The Gyrospheres would circumnavigate the new Jurassic World mini-land, which would reside on the former Camp Jurassic and the remainder of the Trike land.

As far as attractions within that land, it's hard to say, as there's not too much land there to work with. I could see the Amber Mine coaster coming, maybe spinners, maybe some small paddocks (Gentle Giants Petting Zoo?). Honestly, I'd like to see a better version of HelicopTours, maybe with tech similar to Soarin'.

I've been thinking of how they should do these upgrades, story-wise.

Wasn't there some "official" talk when IOA first opened that JP here was a separate entity vs. the original JP in Costa Rica? I think they could keep that narrative possibly.

While that would be interesting, it would be rather odd to have ANOTHER train-like transportation between parks, especially in sections that are right next to each other.

I do think they need to have another attraction or two that goes from one park to the other. Seems like that'd be a good candidate.

You have to think of the logistics of it. Potter only works because it's at the back of both parks, just creating a seamless ride between parks without disrupting the parks themselves with the attraction. Beyond that, where would this attraction lead to? Jurassic doesn't have a presence in USF and there isn't a large abundance of space available for the taking anymore with Fallen, F&F, Nintendo all set for future replacements/expansions to the park, all taking of expansion plots or the most viable replacements.

I'm all for expanding Jurassic as much as the next person, but expanding to USF seems like to much of a stretch, especially when they have the TL land that could potentially be chopped into (or re-purposing existing areas).

That's where the "Too bad they couldn't..." part comes in.

I don't know the logistics of the entrance of Kong, but could the queue be repositioned to go through that gate at Toon Lagoon? That would give a little space to JP to expand, right?

Not really at all... it wasn't designed that way, considering express and what single rider might be available.

I like the map. Personally I'd connect the Trike area and the old Skipper Tours dock area though. They can get creative with a coaster track to connect both.

I also think the Discovery Center could be shaded purple. There's nothing in there that isn't expendable/redoable

The Kong queue can't be repositioned, but you can rework the pathways for Toon Lagoon into JP - but that's a lottttt of work, time, money, and guest inconvenience.

This is probably outrageous, but if Universal axed MIB and FFL, that would create a huge plot that Jurassic World and Nintendo could share. The only issue is that that would literally put the two Jurassic properties at opposite corners of the resort, which is a shame because that monorail from JW would make a great transportation system with screens similar to Hogwarts Express. How cool would it be to pass fields of apatosauruses and stampeding gallimimuses and just get a great overall tour of Isla Nublar?

Personally I like the idea of the Discovery Center. It does feel outdated though, so an update to make it the Innovation Center would be welcomed. Maybe get Samsung on board to sponsor the redo (as they do in the film) and get it done quick and cheap while still providing an educational component that ties into the film.

Right, I didn't mean get rid of it completely. Just that it could use some serious upgrading

Guys, I know this is all blue sky and whatnot but Universal isn't going to have 2 separate "Jurassic Parks"

The story of JP in IOA is Hammond finally made it work in a smaller form. Obviously with JPRA, they break loose. So I can imagine a scenario where they can kinda play off it and Masrani has purchased the area after Hammond's passing. Marketing could be fun for it. "Under New Management" and whatnot (Although I'm sure seeing that quote brings fear to theme park fans.. )

Here is my take on what they could do with their space.
e848y9.jpg

I say converge the two paths from the HP side an put an arch where the green dash is. This brings people further down and out to the front of the discovery center. The orange circle by the water could be a dino petting zoo. Little AAs and handlers with the dinos like we already see. This would offset them killing camp jJurassic Purple up top would be the amber mine train. have a rock formation that you enter with queue in the shaded part. ride is indoors but the finally has it shooting out of the rocks down to the water. This rock can be used to cover hogwarts. Orange will be raptor encounter and leave them room to expand if necessary. Dark blue would be gyro ride with entrance by the water. Ride would start outdoors with an indoor portion in the shaded blue. The long purple strip would be the shopping portion. Make this long streatch of land like JW with the stretch of shops. The red they can do whatever they want. I don't have an idea for that spot. Maybe some more kid friendly stuff.

Like I said, outrageous  That being said, I really want an attraction that virtually visits the majority of the island. If not the monorail, HelicopTours or gyrospheres or something. Up-close interactions would also be welcomed.

I think a monorail isn't a bad idea to bring just to the section, just don't if it's logistically a good idea. I mean, they theoretically have the space. Just don't know if they wanna litter the island with beams.
