I enjoyed this. It’s not reinventing the wheel, but just telling a new story. I do agree with what others have said and think
toooo many people survived. Someone from that family needed to have died halfway through. And Ali surviving the end was so cheap.

I mean not to derail the thread too much but when Megan 2 is a better film then Jurassic...come on

Do they not do test screens or have people read things are say "my god that is generic, we need to give these characters at least some depth"

Maybe people here haven't see them but the John Wick: Ballerina, Ello, The Phoenician Scheme, F1 and so on are just better movies and it sucks to see them kinda just get left on the side of the road while this film makes a billion but is mostly boring

Outside the raft scene which I do think was well done with the tension and what not most other scenes are kinda just....here is action without much real tension and if we are going to make NEW Dinosaurs why did they make it so uncool and ugly. Like this is your chance to make something pretty dam cool and that was the best they could come up with

To me just a lot of the film felt like the script needed more work especially on the character writing, this leads to some wooden acting, the family needed to be cut, the New Dinosaurs just didn't look that cool and kinda were not a threat and the movie could be cut down by at least 40 mins

Besides the OG film, we have Jurassic World: Chaos Theory which is more interesting and is being made now...so its modern Jurassic that doesn't suck.

I'm more impressed that people want to defend this film, like this film? No idea why to me I saw almost no passion in this film. The best thing that can come out of it is they add some of the dinosaurs to the rides in the theme parks or add some as meet and greet characters

it’s more that you constantly act like all you need to do to make a great movie is ask the fans (aka people like you) which is absurd. not all art is good. this is like showing up to a baseball game and asking why a guy doesn’t just try harder after striking out. i assure you, they’re trying!

I just gotta talk on how some people online were talking about how this movie suspiciously feels like it was written by chatgpt or AI, and I kind of have to agree a little bit. obviously I know that David Koepp is an acclaimed and very professional writer that has done great movies, which makes the plot of this film even weirder to watch.

but some parts of this movie feel kind of very generic and taking a lot of parts from previous movies the way chatgpt does with stuff.
you could call it "nods" to other Spielberg movies, but the whole plot almost feels like someone took all the Jurassic Park movies plus Jaws plus alien and blended them together (similar to how ai works)
it goes beyond just nods lol.

The most recent Rick and Morty, with the Movie-lizer, is basically this conversation…

It is exceptionally hilarious that in almost half of these Jurassic movies there exists plot points about how the general public doesn't care for dinosaurs so they need to whip up new even deadlier dinos.

When in real life that could not be further from the truth and these movies continue to just rake in boatloads of cash.

I assume it most be a commentary on how short people's attention spans are but yeah I mean we have Zoo's still...so zoo's with Dinosaurs I think would do pretty well and even after that you assume that normal zoo's could take many of the leaf eating Dino's

So yeah I agree it was pretty silly and the way people line up to see certain rare animals at Zoo...its just off the mark, its also kinda funny since they own theme park with fake dinosaurs in them and they are some of the most popular attraction, lol

People around the world still actively go to normal zoos to see things as 'tame' as monkeys and lizards, let alone things like lions or elephants on reserves.

A theme park/zoo that had real life dinosaurs would unequivocally be one of the most lucrative attraction destinations in the world. They'd be able to charge thousands just to get in and it would be packed daily. Gennaro was 100% right when he said they were going to make a fortune with that park.

I always read the first Jurassic World as a (very cynical) take on audience and spectacle. Kind of like Nope, but directed by someone with less talent and with a much dimmer view on humans. It also felt like a (not very good imo) meta-criticism of itself, franchises and IP.

I was revisiting some video essays about the Jurassic franchise and, yeah, I think the perfect summation of Jurassic World is exactly that: it offers a lot of interesting ideas about audience, franchises, reboots, the desire for more, the age old capitalism, etc. The catch is that it's also very, very, very dumb. Dumbly written with dumb characters doing dumb things.

Which makes it such a shame that it's the movie they wasted the idea of 'greed won out and the park actually opened' on it.

it's almost a little bit Insulting as an audience member. it's like Insulting your intelligence, these movies keep beating you over the head that "people don't care about dinos, no one cares about dinos"
I'm really note sure why the studio wanna push that narrative within the movie's universe.
Jurassic world was a good movie and it had messaging about consumerism, but these movies themselves are becoming what Jurassic world complained about.
