I really didn't like Bring Her Back. There's nothing in this movie that wasn't done better in other films, video games or TV shows. It's just a shock value movie that's directed so basic and no sauce. The only highlight was Sally Hawkins, she was really good. Besides that this movie was just not good imo. If you want to watch a similar movie that was executed way better I highly recommend Hereditary. Love that movie.

Blumhouse has acquired the IP rights to SAW, returning it to James Wan.

I will say this about Hereditary:

It's not as good as Bring Her Back.

Okay, let's move on (unless you want to have a more substantive discussion, but I'm not sure it's really productive to compare these films beyond your personal preference).

saw reboot is the only truly way forward. remake. remake it fully. let the past go. get a younger jigsaw. DO NOT KILL HIM IN The THIRD MOVIE......
start fresh. fix the timeline. no more flashbacks. just straight forward

Timeline is/was fine (Spiral was the problem and 3D gimmick for 6 or was it 5?). Flashbacks have been a great storytelling reveal twist in everything. Don't expect that to change.

Tobin Bell isn't getting any younger, so I wouldn't expect him in the new film(s), except maybe a random unrelated cameo just for fun.

I'm not thrilled about SAW getting any additions or rebooting. So it's unfortunate that Blumhouse acquired it.

Analog style black marketplace for some of the cursed items in the Philippu's universe, including the hand from Talk to Me and the Ritual Tapes from Bring Her Back (which some are saying is better than -

I want these two to be given all the money in the world to make whatever they want. There's nothing better than genre filmmakers that love playing in the real, brutal, scary field..

flashbacks worked for saw but by now they are played out. it becomes a cliche. and if they get a younger jigsaw they won't need so many flashbacks. twists are perfectly fine but not so many flashbacks
I hope they don't rely on them so heavily.
we just need a flat out remake/ reboot.

I haven’t watched any Saws since (I think) 3. But I do follow its story because it intrigues me (I just don’t jive with torture porn or gratuitous gore), and think the Saw lore has gotten too convoluted to create a new audience. An in universe reboot, where a new killer who’s read up on John Kramer’s case but—apart from that—is completely removed from any legacy hang-ups, could be compelling.

We literally have an ongoing court case where a twenty-something allegedly executed a health insurance CEO. You cannot tell me that revisiting Jigsaw’s original motivations aren’t relevant now.
