I’m sure this has been answered before many times, but I myself can’t find the answers here. So what are the reasons HHN can’t return to IOA or do a 2-park event like 2004 in this era?

They can.

The logistics of doing it entirely in Studios, and the requirement to close two parks early, makes the juice not worth the squeeze.

They choose not to.

Would money also be a problem or could they have theoretically made it financially work assuming someone was crazy enough to try a 2-park thing again?

With so many hotel rooms now, many filled with tourists that aren't necessarily into HHN, they need a fully functioning IOA to handle the guests. Back when they did the partial IOA HHN, they only had apx. 1800 hotel rooms and IOA attendance was half, or less, than it is now.

I have a theory I want to pass by you: did Uni go two parks for HHN (and HHN just at IOA) to help boost IOA's attendance numbers?

I’m sure the HHN and IOA was meant to boost numbers maybe. But 2004 was probably just an experiment.

Yep. Numbers and awareness were down after 9/11, so putting HHN at IOA revitalized awareness in the new park.

I think it’s also why they did the documentary when they did.

Not to mention the disastrous “Escape” marketing campaign.

I wonder if they’ll ever do a full length documentary nowadays.

For HHN?

They don’t need to, and filming them can extremely intrusive in a way that kinda runs counter to how they plan the event now.

IOA offers nothing extra to the event. Other then the MSI shed there is no facilities on that side of the park to house more houses, Suess Landing, Marvel and Hogesmeade rights owners are hostile to HHNifying those lands.

To add on it also makes half the houses like the MiB backstage pass houses: far away and a pain to get to.

That can’t happen anytime soon.

Where do you put ten houses?

Put a giant tent over it and make it one big haunted house, of course! ;)

(Based off some reviews of Epic, it might benefit from a giant tent.)

I’m not sure it would work now, but back then Marvel led it slide when they had two zones in 2003 and 2005.

And the dance zone in 2004.

Plus the actual issue in 2002.

But even without using Marvel for HHN, Disney would have to approve any zones in that area now. That’s the big difference now and it basically makes MSHI a new off-limits area akin to Seuss Lagoon. Harry Potter is theoretically available for HHN, but it’s only ever going to be Death Eaters.

Maybe they could be really experimental and have only 5 houses and makeup for the lack of houses with laser tag and shiz?

The only thing I’d wish for them to do with IOA and HHN is to allow us to access IOA from the soundstage hub assuming you have access to each park/event.

I wouldn’t mind hitting HHN early and hitting up IOA for a few night rides before heading back to HHN later in the evening.

I think they did something similar in 2006 I think.
