This is a good time for any for a reminder that when it comes to HHN announcements, nothing is guaranteed. Even when things are planned, they can be postponed for one reason or another. It's happened many a times in the past, including last year, and that's just how it goes sometimes.

If that’s the case we may get an Original, no merch for those

While that would be nice, I don't personally see that happening since I feel they've got a schedule/order on what they're going to announce, and I don't think they're going to swap a house announcement (along with its press release to the media), due to merch being behind for another.

So, based on Pinhead's updated reddit post clues, I'm thinking that we were supposed to get Stranger Things 5 announced today, however something happened so today we won't get the official house announcement today.

Apparently I'm in the minority here, which probably means I'm wrong haha but I think ST5 is coming next,

my gut instinct is almost never right with hhn (which im not mad at lol i honestly like being surprised ) but wouldve been cool to be right once

I'm ALSO in the minority that im a little excited for ST5 (please dont stone me. i dont like ozzy, ive never seen hellraiser, and i havent seen a single evil dead movie haha ST5 issss the IP im excited for. im usually more of an originals girly myself though)
i know ST5 is very likely not gonna be scary, but MAN i just hope the house is good. PLEASE let the series go out with a bang as far as the houses go. im not going to get my hopes incredibly high for it, but i think because i cant see how this season would as easily translate into a house, anything they do will at least somewhat surprise me, and im looking forward to seeing how they approach it. i think i just like the ST houses because it's like getting to walk through the show, even if it isnt scary. i can get that fix in the other 9 houses lol
but all that to say, i FULLY understand everyone else's frustration with the franchise at hhn

You ought to checkout Hellraiser (the remake/reboot is on Hulu right now) and at least watch the 1st evil dead movie before the event starts. I think Evil Dead Burn will be this year's gory/scary IP house.

oh i absolutely do my homework before the event every year (with the exception of Terrifier. had to pass on that lol), so when/if Evil Dead Burn is announced, I'll be watching the OG, Burn, and any others I need for context!

I've seen sinners! I plan to rewatch though. I have a bad habit of multitasking (crafting lol) while watching movies, and I did that during Sinners REAL bad. Like, picked a frustratingly tricky project during that one. I wasn't super impressed with the movie, but I think my opinion would change if I properly paid attention lol so I do plan on rewatching.

I know SOME Ozzy (not much) and it's not my vibe lol every time I think I like Crazy Train, I realize I only like the intro and I skip it once the song really gets going ahaha I'm picky about music, and that's just not my genre at all though. I expect most of you would feel very similarly about the crap I listen to (disappointing to say as a writer, but 90% of music I listen to, I don't care what the lyrics say lol it's about the vibes). But if there are music videos or anything I should look into that'll be referenced, I always do my homework!

In regards to Ozzy - his music is MADE for a Halloween event. I would suspect that the following may be featured:

Zombie Stomp (this one doubtful - but it's on my Halloween playlist - kind of a one off)

However, the final season of Stranger Things was quite a mess and didn’t hit the way the other seasons did.

This is a conundrum for me because sometimes the houses based on bad concepts end up being good.

You'll probably only need Hellraiser 1 and 2 for context on the house at HHN this year. They run more like a part one into part two when you watch them back to back anyways. Do a double-feature screening one night! There are 9 more that you really don't have to watch, and probably shouldn't, unless you're still interested to see where it goes. Watch the newest one (the 2023 requel) if you want to see the newest iteration... but you're going down a dark and confusing path if you choose to watch anything past 4. 3 and 4 are alright - opinions may vary as i thought 3 was meh but actually loved 4 - however, 5 through 10 are littered with rights//casting issues and spec script transitions. Half of them were written and filmed to be OTHER horror/thriller movies only to have PINHEAD shoehorned into 3 or 4 scenes and have the name HELLRAISER slapped on the box during post-production. Some of it is hilarious and some of it is downright sad. 9 and 10 were cheap indie iterations where people TRIED to do something new but couldn't get Doug Bradley to step in and play Pinhead again, so they re-casted to... interesting results to say the least. Most say 9 is the worst in the series, whereas 10 at least tries to feel fresh by introducing new aspects to the mythology... but both don't quite land right.

And, this might be heresy, but you should probably only watch Evil Dead Rise before going to see Evil Dead Burn before HHN this year. Listen, i love the trilogy starring Bruce but let's be honest - there's almost nothing there that will be adapted for Burn's house than MAYBE an easter egg that eagle-eyed fans will go "oh" and keep the conga-line moving. You don't need to watch a disconnected series of 80's movies to understand the newer ones. I'd say watch Evil Dead 2013 only if you liked Rise. And the only reason i say to watch Rise is because the trailer makes it pretty obvious that the cold open from THAT movie is also going to be the continuation for which Burn's plot takes place. Only go back and watch Evil Dead 1, 2, and Army of Darkness movies if you want to see where this series originated after the fact. If you liked that, then go watch the show Ash vs. Evil Dead.

As far as homework goes, i think watching 4 movies (or 5 if you choose to watch Evil Dead 2013 before Rise) is definitely easier than watching 16 and a TV show.

16 is crazy work lol I'd have to love love love love something to watch that much of it lmao if someone told me with a straight face i needed to watch all 16 for context for the house, I'm just watching a summary YouTube vid like I did for all three Terrifiers and calling it a day haha

This seems like the smartest approach, if Netflix will let them. So much of the final season was so huge and bombastic and CGI-heavy that I can't really imagine how you'd even try to adapt it as a house. And my sense is that there is much more residual affection for "Stranger Things" as a whole than for specifically "Stranger Things Season 5" which largely landed with a thud. Having access to all the iconography and all the monsters would be really helpful for making a compelling house this year.
