Suuuurre... OR just NOT use Jack for consistency reasons since, you know, he's got a permanent Vegas residency now

Why would that matter? Well, when Jack came back for the 25th, he was absent from Singapore where had appeared the previous year. The following year, he returned to Singapore fitted in his upgraded 25th anniversary Ringmaster attire. Yay consistency!

So if they gave Vegas a temporary "headliner", then it'd keep the illusion (no matter how lame & uncreative it is for Orlando to fall back on Jack. Again. For another anniversary).

Yes he's popular, but to rely on his presence every 5 years is really sad. It's bad enough he's in Vegas when it should've been Lady Luck's 2nd chance

Universal really needs to play with their other nightmare inducing faces of terror & torment OR create something new (preferably without auto-tune or a retcon/reworked existing character from the past). Pumpkin Lord was top-tier minus his belching.

To that I say, why limit Mickey Mouse, when you have Mickey Mouse?

Jack *prints* money and the value of him as a character shouldn't be something I'd easily scoff off (plus in the case of say, Hollywood, we haven't had Jack in nearly 20 years. And yet in spite of that, Carnival of Carnage was arguably a vital and pivotal event because of what it meant for Hollywood outside of the New Line trio. And that, to an extent, is with Jack).

If it was used constantly each and every year, then maybe it'd get tiring; but I don't see the problem with using Jack to celebrate an "Anniversary".

Every 5 years is lazy & uncreative.

Also I'm still bitter over the 30th. Will never forgive them for ordering the Terra Queen from Temu & making Jack the focal point

I'm good until late April - then announcement season can start ramping up. NFL Free Agency and the draft can keep me busy until then.

From what I remember/understand, a document was leaked out that basically detailed every aspect of the event. Houses, zones, etc.

And as for the Jack discussion.. I am perfectly fine seeing him this year purely for the fact that I have never been to an event where Jack was present. I started attending in 2016 and missed 2021.

(Hey, my 10th anniversary of attending this year. Another anniversary!)

I’m also one of those people who started attending in 2016 and just missed seeing the big 25th anniversary festivities, featuring Jack.

Based on all the hype people still had for HHN 25, I was very excited for HHN 30, but I ended up feeling robbed by all pandemic restrictions that were still in place.

So here I am, 10 years into being a fan, hoping to see an unrestricted anniversary year for the first time. Bring on Jack.

And THIS is why they keep bringing back Jack. Jack doesn’t return for the people who’ve followed the event since the nineties (and have thus experienced him seven times already). They bring him back so frequently for the people who have never met him.

As someone who didn't start going until 2019, Jack holds no nostalgia for me and just feels like a generic and forgettable clown (please don't stone me), so when there are so many far more interesting icons they could use, it definitely feels like a bummer for them to likely use Jack again. Regardless if he's there for the OGs or for the new people to learn about him, I just didn't find him interesting in the slightest.

Or maybe I'm just jaded because the rando lady on the Facebook group that asked me to tell Jack hi for her when I posted that I was going that night. Then she proceeded to keep checking in by DMing me to ask if I told him she said hi yet. lmao

From all my research on past icons, I'd love to see the Usher come back. I know nothing has been said about him this year and I know he isn't as popular by any means, I just liked his story haha

Pop culture typically runs on a roughly 7-year cycle. Bringing Jack back every 5 years or so gives a new generation of fans the opportunity to experience the only icon who was ever truly a home run. It helps for the old-timers (I imagine the number who remember even his third appearance is limited these days) that he's used a different way each time. This isn't the Hocus Pocus show.

I think it's perfectly fine to bring back Jack every 5 years or so. Out of all the icons, he's the "easiest" to understand for the general public based on his image alone - a lunatic clown who loves to kill. The other icons (as much as I want to see them) have a bit of a learning curve (not saying they're bad in any way, but marketing-wise it's easier to explain Jack in a 5-10 sec TikTok clip)

There also hasn't been a truly "Jack-focused" year since 2015, so I wouldn't call it overkill. HHN 30 had Jack at Icons, and if you happened to cross paths with him in the park (I saw him only a handful of times for a few seconds).

Yeah, one thing i've held off on asking and haven't seen clarification anywhere.... but will say, now, because spec is so sparse: The earliest spec map had IT/Welcome to Derry clues.
Even a second source with their own spec map came forward with IT/Welcome to Derry clues.
EVEN IKnowMoreThanYou on Reddit had everyone chasing a HUGE IT/Welcome to Derry clue
and they're not one to bluff! They were VERY insistent about why the clue was HUGE and when people confirmed it, it was.
Then... There was a gap in spec... some silence... And... New spec map come out with NO IT/Welcome to Derry mentioned

-_-

I assume this is one of those "grapevine" mixed with the clown rumors that got blown out of proportion and people jumped to conclusions that weren't intended - but if anyone closer to being informed can tell me IF IT ever WAS in the cards or NOT or what the likelihood of IT/Pennywise being at the event is at this point - i would be interested in hearing what people have to say.

Spec-wise, i was interested about hearing what happened to Resident Evil and why it very similarly went from being spec-ed from those first two drafts to OUT by the third draft, but i feel like we've seen that more or less explained/debunked. I am making assumptions as to why the same has happened for IT/Welcome to Derry but i would appreciate anyone with more insight being able to clarify what they heard, as i haven't heard anyone talking about it since being 'removed' from spec maps. Absence usually suggests it was just wishful thinking but idk. Is this misdirection? Is IT still coming? It wouldn't be the first time we've had a huge bait-n-switch.

If there is nothing to tell, i understand... BUT, earlier, the claims were that "this year's lineup is even bigger than last years," and without Pennywise, i just don't believe that to be true. Sinners is the only thing keeping me interested right now. We have a lot of rumors for Stranger Things (something we've all seen before and something that will feel VERY same-y if it shows up again) and that will match the FNaF crowds from last year -i'm sure- and we have rumors for Evil Dead Burn, which is a movie none of us have seen or will see for another 4 months (so it's hard to be hype for something we don't know) and it's equally hard to assume it'll outweigh anything from last year, especially the sleeper-hit for many (myself included) that was WWE: Wyatt Sicks. Hellraiser is a get, and a bucketlist IP for many (myself included), but i don't think Pinhead outweighs someone like Jason and F13 as far as a franchise/IP goes. It all has me feeling like I don't think we have another GET to match something BIGGER than Terrifier to substantiate the "BIGGER" claims this year. Spec started out hyped as hell but i feel the air has been slowly let out, deflating with time, and that's no doubt due to the little information we have to spec on to begin with.

Props for Stranger Things were assumed to be for IT/Welcome to Derry.

Settings for Evil Dead Burn were assumed to be for Resident Evil.

That’s where all the confusion is coming from.

I wasn't aware of what Evil Dead Burn was previously, but once I found out it takes place
in a post apocalyptic city
, it makes a lot of sense that it was mistaken for RE.

The Stranger Things/Derry is odd, though lol

Thanks, Legacy. As disappointed as i am to hear that it was identical to the situation for RE, it helps soften the blow to no longer expect it at the event. Still looks like a fun year, but not feeling bigger than last year to me... YET.
Cheers!

This is super interesting to me. I always kinda assumed speculation at this point was more informed by "verbal" rumors of actual IPs and Original STORIES. Didn't even think about props yet as houses aren't being built.

I'd love to know the timeline of the houses from approvals (that I think we knew about during hte event last year) to builds being finalized. Never even thought about how early they'd have to start raiding the off site prop storage place(s) to consolidate stuff they can reuse. Do they have pallets or areas for each specific house that they divide up everything they collect? Do they have individual staging areas at Universal or do they just stuck palettes of stuff in one un-used building until needed? They have to procure fabric, upholstery, etc for each IP that is VERY specific for accuracy and guess someone seeing an very specific print from an IP would potentially be a confirmation of a house.

Guess I (rather stupidly) thought they built the house, raided the prop warehouse to get what they needed, thew all that in, then bought/designed/produced whatever was missing but sounds like my assumptions were back-assward.

Someone better informed can speak to this better, but my understanding is that many props are requisitioned before plywood goes up. So, even if those props aren't on site, there is both a paper trail indicating what they're pulling and in some cases crates are pulled out of storage and staged long before they're sent to the park.

Your assumptions aren’t backwards. Things move concurrently. They start pulling/consolidating props while builds occur. Builds started (historically) sometime between January and April. It’s earlier now (permits were posted in November). But it all works out concurrently. That allows two things; It means they can start decor the moment builds are complete and it also maximizes the time they have to procure/create anything they don’t already have. Everything was held at their warehouse(s) on Sand Lake, but they may have already moved to the South Campus. They’ll have more space to palletize props there.

Came here to say the same. And I visited him in Vegas, too. To me, he IS HHN

Edited to ask based on Legacy's comment - so, IT is NOT coming? If not.. I am SO BUMMED - especially if it's ST instead. While I did love the show, I'm over it, and I think an ST house will just be same same.
