Regardless of personal opinions on the ending of ST, Fear Street has been done for years and the time for that passed. Prom Queen (from what I heard) was pretty universally disliked.
If we were to look at this from a general public/crowd demand and financial aspect, ST makes a LOT more sense. The merch prints money and it's the last shot to have that at the event where it's still considered timely. A much larger crowd watched the finale than will ever watch Fear Street (despite the original trilogy being popular regardless). Plus, to have all the other ST seasons and not 5 would be weird.
Again, this is taking into consideration that ST isn't actually even an official rumor. Fear Street is even less so.

As for my personal opinion that no one asked for lol:
I don't think the end of ST was THAT bad. I overall found it to be a satisfying conclusion for most of the characters, and I'm even ok with the open-endedness near the very end. I just think there were a lot of details that could've been tweaked or addressed for a more impactful ending. The first half of season 5 was where I had more issues, and it was primarily in pacing and the writing of the dialogue, but that's also coming from my bias of being a writer with a love of dialogue lol

Tl;Dr: It was aight.

I'll pitch a fit if I want to. People do it all the time here for less legit reasons. My point was - Ozzy was the first rumor from an actual credible source (@Legacy ) which is the only reason I got excited. For this to be scrapped in favor of HMH - well, that's just stupid. Practically everyone on the planet knows who Ozzy was and he has millions of fans still mourning his passing. Outside of Orlando and the people who travel to HHN Orlando, who else knows what HMH is?? Logically, that move would make ZERO sense.

I mean, just because it doesn't happen does not mean it was "scrapped". Even from people who are generally reputable in this community, there are always rumors every year that do not end up being real. It is more likely that HMH was confused for Ozzy somehow.

I mean, do they? I've lost track of our "days since a fit was pitched" tracker, but I don't think it happens that often.

Until it's formally announced, i'm taking the rumor to mean Heavy Metal Hell featuring a soundtrack by way of Black Sabbath//Ozzy OR Ice Nine Kills. I'd prefer the former, but I'd understand the latter.

My questions for @hunnylvr would be:
-Would you be happy to have Ozzy represented at the event in any capacity?
-What is it about Black Sabbath//Ozzy's music that wouldn't fit right in with a full-house-treatment for Heavy Metal Hell?

To answer those questions myself, i think anyone would be delighted to hear that Ozzy is going to be a soundtrack feature at an event of this caliber.
The alternative being:

I also think the theoretical overlap of imagery represented in a Heavy Metal Hell house would be SO similar to an idealistic Black Sabbath house that the ONLY differentiating factor I can think of would be the color palette and even that is a stretch because it's about more than the name and not everything should just be BLACK.

Let's compare the two concepts thematically. We have...
Hell...
Demons...
Witchcraft...
Skeletons...
Frickin Bats...
Halloween Vine GIF

What would a Black Sabbath House have that couldn't possibly be represented in a Heavy Metal Hell house that distinguishes it so significantly? And furthermore... Would the general audience attending HHN notice or care?
The only thing i can think of is for Ozzy to literally be the sole focus of the house like THE WEEKND...
AND Idk... I don't personally want that. I'd prefer the way SLASH has collaborated with USH.

To each their own, but i'd rather have something and have it be sincere, than have nothing at all or something that really doesn't make sense. Heavy Metal Hell by way of Ozzy Osbourne makes perfect sense thematically and would be a fun way to celebrate the music he helped create.

I didn't say Heavy Metal Hell wouldn't be a fit with Ozzy's music because that's pretty obvious. That house was based on all the "Satanic panic" and bs that the religious right tried to spew relating to that genre back in the 80's. That's when Ozzy was really taking off with his solo career (which started in 1980), so he is right in the middle of it. Of course it fits.

However, not the point. The reason I was thrilled with the rumor that Ozzy would be getting a house is because he was an icon and a trailblaer. He INVENTED heavy metal. If they can have a house featuring the Weeknd, why is it questioned when I state I would like to see Ozzy get his own? When he passed last July, it seemed like fans around the world mourned him. To give him such a tribute would be fantastic, and I am positive that people who may not normally attend such an event would go just for that. I don't see how you can say it wouldn't be "sincere". I can't think of a more sincere and incredible way to honor such a person who definitely deserves it. To me, putting his music in HMH would make it rather generic. THAT is not "sincere".

Of course, these are all just our opinions, and I guess that doesn't matter much either, does it? They will do what they are going to do. Sorry if I came off unhinged, but as I said, my excitement was based on what I thought was very credible info. I realize things change, but it doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be disappointed.

Just for what it's worth, I agree with both of you - and, I think this conversation demonstrates the depth of feeling in this community which I think is awesome.

Re: hunnylvr, I totally see how an Ozzy tribute house that is explicitly and fully about Ozzy would be very meaningful to you, me, and others who love heavy metal and appreciate Ozzy's impact on generations of kids. (I always think of him parodying the Jerry Falwells of the world in his cameo in Trick or Treat, the '80s movie that very much inspired Heavy Metal Hell in terms of its plot I'd say, and get a kick out of the meta takedown of the moral panickers who hated the Prince of Darkness.) I think if an Ozzy tribute house would be emotionally meaningful, it is completely right that Heavy Metal Hell ft. Ozzy would be less meaningful, and it is very fair to be disappointed if it doesn't pan out. No one is entitled to anything from HHN, and we all know that nothing is official until announced, but I think being disappointed, even really disappointed, when a rumor doesn't pan out is fair

Re: LPCaptainDeath, I think a Heavy Metal Hell house that draws from Ozzy's iconography and uses his music could still be a solid tribute, and perhaps could be a house that is more approachable to a lot of people who understand and like heavy metal, demonic imagery, etc. but don't have the same reverence for Ozzy. That may be the commercial way to bring a house that feels Ozzy-like within the construct of the event, and I'd prefer Heavy Metal Hell ft. Ozzy to nothing at all.

Thank you for the thoughtful comments and for reminding me of Trick or Treat! HAHAHA!! That was CLASSIC - and them putting Ozzy in it was so entertaining. You know he loved it! Sorry, all, I was and still am a MASSIVE Ozzy fan, so this is unusually emotional for me. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss this, and I'll try to keep myself in check.

You have absolutely NOTHING to apologize for, @hunnylvr
I'm playing devil's advocate in order to get to the bottom of how people feel about how it MIGHT play out. I try to run 100% in one direction(full Black Sabbath house) to 100% in the other direction(no representation at all), where I personally find that the Heavy Metal Hell talk lands right in the middle in this weird gray area, to see how anyone might feel about things happening one way or another because we truly don't know how it will all pan out.

I ask the questions not to question you in an inscrutable way but to know more about why you feel the way you do and where your thoughts lie on the matter. I think it's pretty obvious you'd love to see Ozzy represented at the event and that you think Heavy Metal Hell would be a watered-down way to pay tribute a la in memorium to the one and only Prince of Darkness.

And i agree! This might be my way of curbing my expectations because i don't think we are getting a FULL Ozzy/Black Sabbath house like in 2013. A lot of this is me saying "Would Heavy Metal Hell with an awesome Ozzy soundtrack and some wink-wink-nod-nod easter eggs suffice?" And to me, that answer is also a yes! I don't personally want a house with Ozzy IN IT as like... a plot point/character/narrative driven device because i just don't think it's respectful to use someone's likeness after they've passed in most commercial capacities with very little room for exception. Maybe it's my feelings about Hollywood's deepfake tech in film playing into how identities are being bought/managed but it would have to be presented the right way with blessings to do so from his family and mates. I just don't want to see them throw up his face on a t-shirt and call it a day, is basically what i'm saying, that's what i mean when i say sincerity. I think endorsing the house with Ozzy's image would have to be done in a thoughtful way that doesn't feel like a cash grab, which i'm sure Murdy is capable of, but he only manages USH.

On paper, this is different from how HHN presented the Wyatt Sicks with respect to Bray Wyatt because he was a lifelong fan of HHN, all of his friends and family and mates would go with him every year, and he was friends with several members on the development team. HHN was ingrained in his identity and how he presented himself as the fiend and how he presented his characters within the WWE network. That house was done in a sincerely touching and loving way to honor his legacy. I think if HHN announced a Black Sabbath/Ozzy house it would 100% be sincere and developed in the right way, but i also think that if they featured his music in a Heavy Metal Hell house it would be just as sincere.

Additionally, this is different to me from The Weeknd, because he's alive and because Abel was very much involved with how that house was presented and developed both times. He's also kinda full of himself, so i felt like basing the entire house about HIM kinda tracked. lol

But you're both right. We don't know what they're going to do until they announce it; I just think i'm trying to keep my expectations in check. I don't want anything to be thought of as too LOCKED IN because we all know how that can play out! I might be a little cheeky about how i say stuff -for fun- but that's not meant to be interpreted or taken in a personal way, i assure you. Always appreciate talking with people about how they feel about the event and what it's capable of doing!
