I think it's very possible that the combination of houses opening at 2 PM and the removal of FFP + Express helps to bring wait times down across the board. I'd say throw in a price hike for single-night Express tickets for good measure!

The outrage surrounding this announcement has been entertaining to watch. I genuinely hope people who are upset with this change keep their word of reducing their number of visits and limited spending on merch/food/drinks/etc. A lot of respect to those who hold that up.

To make the situation worse, can we get Fortnitemares tomorrow? lol

I'm honestly surprised that universal has not adapted dynamic pricing for Halloween horror nights lol.
walmart's dynamic pricing is all the rage over on TikTok :lmao:
I know that express becomes cheaper later at night, but imagine if they could adjust the pricing every day according to demand by using ai lol. ( less busy days, cheaper, more crowded, more expensive. no set price)

As an out of town-er who has gotten the opportunity to attend HHN merely twice in his adult life (hey, living in Connecticut ain't cheap, my guy), I can see both how it would be frustrating as somebody who is either a local and relishes in the chance to enjoy the houses as much as possible / an out-of-town-er who needs those express passes to fully make their trip worth it in a maximum effort as well as how potentially exciting it could be that this move could help reduce crowd-age and help lines move faster.

At the end of the day, I think if you're privileged enough to have been someone who has enjoyed the FFP + Express for years on end, remember the good times but remember the event itself is still going to be there, it's just the way you engage with it that will change.

I do think it's fascinating to wonder what the reception would be if instead of eliminating FFP + Express entirely, Universal simply dropped a massive price increase relative to the value of such an undoubted steal of a deal (which I would assume they'd have the numbers to work out mathematically). Surely there'd be outrage because money as well as the portion that utilize the deal to maximize multiple/one longer vacation as opposed to being able to use it every weekend the event is held. But would the discontent be a lot quieter because the option would still be a reality?

There's no way Halloween Horror Nights is ever going to be an event that makes everyone happy. It's simply an enormously attended event now to be so. Whether it be their own financial gain or guest experience (as with most things the truth is probably in the middle), Universal made this decision for a reason because the event is just getting bigger and bigger.

To me, as a completely average dude who likes theme parks/HHN from very a-far, it's kind of mind boggling that Universal hasn't at least considered doing some drastic things to improve the event on an infrasturctural level (maybe they have?). Horror will always be a cash cow and the only thing that has halted the event's growth was a global pandemic. HHN is something the company should be falling over itself to leverage into being even bigger.

as a local, getting rid of their free parking screws me royally lol  I really relied on that parking every night. it is what it is, but there's cuts happening all over the place.
cut the free parking, cut the ffp express, maybe they are just having problems with crowds.

I don’t think removing FFP with Express has to do with some isolated group of people who are “spamming” the Express lines over the course of two months. The reality is every body that’s in an Express line represents another Express Pass that can’t be sold. The FFP+E user who would speedrun 25 houses a night represented the same opportunity cost as the FFP+E user who came for a single house on a Thursday after work; in both cases, that’s two $150+ Express Pass sales that did not happen that night.

I guarantee you Universal is not diving into data as granular as number of Express redemptions per pass…all they need to see is how many park admissions the average FFP+Express scanned to determine how much lost Express sale revenue this ticket tier was costing them per year.

Put another way, everyone needs to stop throwing around “spamming” and “cheating” and getting all critical over each other’s visiting habits. Your frustration is better aimed at the company who made this decision in the first place.

a lot of single night users always saw frequent fear as cheating itself. just the regular frequent fear. " why should locals get multiple nights ?"
I heard that often. even while waiting for a house.

Have you ever seen the original skins that Fortnite does for Fortnitemares? They're better than alot of the characters we normally get in scarezones.

@Pixarfan96 if you're there the same night i am, i need to see you go through this zone!
If not, either you or someone with you needs to record your experience and post it here after.
I think we all want to see you in your element. lol
I want your full kid-opening-N64-on-christmas-day reaction caught on camera.

Well I WAS planning on putting on some shades and lip sync the Killer Klowns theme song when they play it full blast like I am in a music video (Hopefully the actors will see this if someone is recording and may mime playing guitars or something! lol), but there is a 95% chance that “N64” scenario will happen too, either that or I will be so overwhelmed that I might cry a little, lol.

In the scare zone in 2018, I saw a few of the actors doing this while the song played. Using their giant bats as guitars/microphones, etc.

So it's possible!

Good news! You're still welcome to buy single night Express Passes if you're not willing to wait in long lines like the rest of us.

You're always welcome to spend extortionate exorbitant amounts of money on this inferior alternative product that was never designed nor priced with repeat visitors in mind. This message brought to you by Universal Orlando Resort.™

We've known this day was inevitably coming for the past few years. To be upset is valid, but to be shocked, is not. I'll withhold judgment until after we see how the first couple weekends play out, as there are too many speculative variables.

There was no winning option for Universal. All roads were going to lead to anger. One can only hope that they are sincerely choosing to do this in hopes of overall guest experience improving and not just additional profit.

Comments like this are why people have been saying for years that the product is underpriced and why I truly don’t think just jacking up the price would’ve changed the reaction in here.

Not a single person in here is saying Uni are saints, yet the snark and unserious rude comments continue. It feels like an absolute waste to continue. Sorry yall have had your trip impacted. Genuinely.

The fact of the matter is most people claiming FFP with Express was underpriced are those who couldn't afford it even while supposedly "undepriced," or snag one after they started being sold in limited amounts (a decision I also didn't agree with, for the record), and so they've decided they want everyone else to suffer like them. None of the people in question will ever admit it, but you don't need a degree in psychology to see that's the reality of the situation.

I will be the first to admit that I can't afford to spend absurd amounts of money on individual Express passes every time I go. Difference is you won't see me blaming the people who can. Yes, that is still an option -- not at all a practical one for most of us, but those guests can nonetheless spend their money however they choose. It's none of my business. I will, however, blame Universal for making poor decisions that severely damage the experience of their most loyal audience. Whether or not this corporation or that corporation are "saints" is of no relevance to me, I simply have no interest in towing the company line or humoring those who do. I'm older now and left my fanboy phase behind a long time ago. Sometimes a bit of snark is warranted.
