Remember my post about totality?

Art from Terrifier is currently in a legal, copyright situation. He was rumored to appear in a “clown” zone with Killer Klowns. They announce Killer Klowns, during zone week, without any key art or details. That implies they didn’t do any key art (unlikely… even its last zone had key art) or the key art they DID have could no longer be used. The implication here is, Art was likely coming but got pulled late. That gives the Klowns their own solo zone.

Pixar, congrats, bud. Glad you got what you dreamed of.

I have a few questions - I know you all keep a ridiculous amount of data handy, so before whatever passes go on sale, I'd love to know two things:

1. What were the prices on FFP+ and UFFP last year (without Express)
2. I saw a while ago that someone actually had a graph that showed crowd levels by night over several weeks. Trying to determine which nights are actually "lighter". The old idea that Thurs and Sun should be lighter because people have work/school the next day apparently is no longer valid. I was told that Saturdays are actually lighter because of the structure of the passes (unless you get UFFP, you don't get Saturday until the end). I find this hard to believe though.

I'm just trying to plan around our dates and which nights we should go - since I have to buy individual friggin Express for each night, I no longer have the option of just picking any night to go, so I am trying to get it right. Any help is appreciated.

Lastly, someone put something in my ear yesterday that they were having issues with Ozzy and some rights. Again, also very hard to believe as I'm sure they nailed that down almost a year ago. Further, knowing Ozzy's family, they would absolutely LOVE the idea of a tribute to him, so I find it hard to believe they would cause issues. Ozzy was always afraid people would forget him - anything that shines a light on the legend he was, that family is IN. I know some of you hear things, so I am hoping you'd hint around if there was an issue.. because if Ozzy doesn't come, I have a lot of thinking to do after I stop crying.

I can say the UFFP was 419.99 plus tax.

I’m sorry that the removal of express has put such a damper on your vacation plans. It’s a bummer.

I hope you get the best Ozzy house imaginable. It will take some of the sting away.

Per Thrill-data, the lightest normal ops days were Fridays last year: 1784222404342.png

There was not much variation night to night last year though, no major trends like the October falloff in 2023. They have done a very good job spreading demand around.

Boy this is going to be interesting lol

As far as wait time data - in my experience, Fridays have definitely always been the least busy nights.

Watned to come back to this when I was able to respond better.

It's totally fair and allowed (and frankly GO FOR IT) to go every night and see every house and every attraction while using Express. I don't think there's any moral, ethical, or whatever limitations on using the product you paid for.

My original post was bouncing off of another poster commenting how they FELT like passes with express were a cheat to the event. They feel like it because Universal sees what the price break even point is for the product (probably a combination of the average times guests with the pass go, how often they visit the houses, when they visit, etc. Remember you scan for Express and that's all tracked) where most guests would get a deal out of FFP but also it pushes them to spend more than they would have normally ("hey instead of going one night we can just upgrade to this pass!"). So if someone goes significantly more than that break point it's easy to see how they're "cheating" the system. I think a lot of folks liked that feeling!

I think the issue is the negative connotation of "cheating" and using that term when I could have probably gone for a different one.

I liken it to cell phone data. You have unlimited data. So using 100GBs is fine. However, after a certain amount, you might be throttled if you're in a congested area. If you're consistently in the 1% of users data, you might get reached out to in order to determine how to lessen the data you're using (maybe you need an internet plan, here you go at a discounted rate).

UO could never figure out how to actively throttle to account for high congestion houses or days. So no, no one is "cheating" it or even "abusing" the system. You're using it as it was intended, but over what the expected average usage would be by somebody by a magnitude of X (whatever X is). And that's breaking the system.

There was a comment at some point about this not being about guest satisfaction, but I would push back on that (sorry that I'm deviating from your post, Joe). There's a cost associated with recovering guests. There's lost revenue as part of that and the risk of permanently losing a guest from coming back to the event or to UO in whole. In addition, more times spent in lines for houses, means less time purchasing merch/food/drinks. If you're frustrated, you're less likely to part with those dollars more freely.

There's something to be said about balance and the value of it, especially in an event like this where it's primarily human driven (less reliance of rides and automation). Without the ability to expand capacity, you have to determine how to best manage expectations and satisfaction.

As someone else said, local population in Orlando has exploded as well and I think for many (I know if I still lived there and wasn't working at UO, I would get one) the FFP (with or without Express) is a great value because the event itself is going to be different each night in some way. Not massive like new houses or characters, but the experiences you witness can be altered, the people watching aspect is different, how the characters interact with people, etc. There's great value in being able to be part of that because it's not static, but very dynamic. But, like I mentioned, it's all human driven, and there's only so much you can do with that in terms of capacity before it feels too much and smothering.

I said it previously - but I'm very curious to see what data UO has regarding guests that did not return, and how they determined the reason for the lack of return.

Someone mentioned yesterday that the vast majority of HHN visitors are not spending thousands of dollars, but this just simply isn't true - especially factoring in HHN tickets/day tickets/hotels/food/etc. Most HHN visitors are not visiting ONLY for Halloween Horror Nights.

Most of the announcements this year have been keeping me hyped to attend the event, so I do still plan on going, but I just wanted to come on here and voice my displeasure at the way Universal handled this whole multi-night express pass situation.

I’m a vacationer who plans a 1 week HHN trip every year, so I make a budget and save the whole year to make it happen. If I had known months ago that my only option for express was a single night pass, then I would have 1) budgeted differently and 2) bought them when they were cheaper.

I understand the potential positives of removing express from the multi-night passes, but I need to see some proof of concept here. I won’t be going to HHN without express until they prove to me that they can handle the insane popularity of the event.

There are nights I don’t even buy their food because the lines are ridiculous for a single-serving item. That’s a problem.

Anyway, I’m sorry to anyone who is feeling stressed about this whole thing. Your feelings are valid. Universal failed to communicate with us. It’s not up to us to sit here and guess what their grand plan is for all this. They know how obsessive their fans are. They should have offered us an explanation months ago or offered some sort of middle ground alternative.

You all ROCK! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I think we may try Friday and Sunday then just for the hell of it. Thank you SO MUCH for this data - it definitely helps. Still not buying anything until Ozzy is announced, but this gets me prepared. Very, very much appreciated.

Rip is a great experience and you get to go up to the balcony bar over production central which is neat. We usually do rip but decided to gamble with the premium scream this year instead.

Would that mean they will expand the footprint of the zone. I know it’s probably late, but it will be cool if we saw more scenic props from the film that weren’t present in the last scare zone, if it’s true that it’s just gonna be KKFOS. Either way this is a huge win in my book.
