It is astounding to me that no other option was given for Express at all. So, it's individual night express? That will add up to well beyond what I've ever paid for that pass. I'm thinking it might be time to scale back the number of trips we take. As much as that pains me, this is a major financial blow, and I cannot justify paying what will be approx $4000 just in Express for my wife and I to attend the same amount of nights we've always done. That's just stupid. And before someone says - oh just go without it - the answer is no. I've already given my reasons why numerous times (for which you all probably don't care AT ALL). Congrats, Uni - you finally cracked my HHN junkie habit. I'll attend - but it won't be nearly as frequently.

Relax. you don't know if any new options to replace them will be offered. We will just have to wait till the 21.

Was single night, single Express pass not the way to go for HHN? Usually I've just headed in without on repeat nights and while I haven't gotten everything done on those later evenings I've still gotten enough house walkthroughs to be satisfied. I understand that different trips (especially if you're coming in from out of state) require different options, I'm just wondering if there's a meta that I've completely elided on accident.

I wonder if this discussion deserves its own thread.

Trust me, the amount of cursing coming out of my mouth for EXACTLY that reason would put me on the banned list here.

That is rough

If the line times go down then it will be worth it but if the lines are still 90-2 hours at the bigger houses then just kind of sucks for locals

When the dust settles, this will be a win for standby queues (single night ticket holders) and for single night express pass holders.

With how much talk is going on regarding the subject, I'd argue for it.

The best way to respond is to vote with your wallet. Either cancel plans and don’t go or just spend less when you’re there. If this truly upsets you, don’t cave in and buy a bunch of single night Express tickets. If you want to still go to the event (like I absolutely do), just spend less money. Buy less merchandise, get fewer snacks, don’t buy full price Express.

Already cancelled one of my hotel stays! Wallet getting heavier!

Universal's really twisting the knife though. Not only are they doing this but judging by how things are going, I'll bet Ozzy is probably like the last thing to get announced. In that sense this season must have been pure torture. xD (For the record, I'm also looking forward to the Ozzy house.)

I don’t even post on here anymore but Universal is a joke for doing this. I hope their numbers are down this year.

I would love to see what the numbers look like for FFP w/ Express and one night of Premium Scream. I wonder if that's the replacement (and could see more of those next year) revenue model that makes it worth it for UO to get rip of FFP w/ Express because you improve the guest feedback on the traditional nights and then provide an offering to the die-hard locals (and those who travel) who want that same experience, but amped up.

Last year we spent upwards of $1500 I believe for 2 ROF with express. Not sure what the price is for ROF without this year, but we spent $800ish on premium. If they’re $200 a piece like last year, let’s just go with $480 total. Thats $1280. So maybe $300ish less total for my family? But that doesn’t include limiting what food we would spend if we had ROF with express. Because we straight up would’ve tried all the mocktails and food that comes with premium night that’s at least another $500-600 from our family missing. So I’m honestly not sure, might be the move

I would love that

I would like to learn more, since USH HHN has never had this option, I go all nights but one without express and would like to hear how this event is different and would require a pass to be fun still

Felt like a long-time coming with how expensive the passes with express had gotten. Few years ago I had to make a decision to either extend my trip to make the pass worth it or cut back to a couple of individual nights to maintain the same price. Wound up doing the latter and finding the shorter trip to be perfect, I think 3 days max with 2 nights express is my ideal trip. Hoping this opens the door for some travel-friendly multi-night tickets though.

Really curious if this rebalances Rush of Fear. Feel like with how expensive Frequent Fear with Express was it pushed a lot of locals to Rush of Fear to the point where some days in September felt way more crowded than October. Then again hype might be too strong now to stay away lol.

We don’t know what other alternatives they may be offering. I’m going to wait until the actual tickets drop to make those decisions.

I think the Meta is just that it was silly to buy it without express with how good of a deal it was. There is literally no reason to get it other than just that it felt like a really good bargain. But no, if it doesn’t include it, it is in my opinion kind of a waste to buy single it if you were going more than like two nights. If you only have two nights there then yeah I totally understand but scream early and simply just watching the lines has always been a good move.

With Stay and Scream and some clever planning it's possible to see all houses on a slower night, but I think you'd need at least two to enjoy yourself without actually feeling rushed. That said, you'll need to do houses during the day before your eyes can adjust so you'll lose out on seeing a lot of detail. Was always a dealbreaker for me so I've always stuck to express.

With what a great cancellation policy Uni has I totally would recommend waiting. The prices is probably way higher now so if you cancel now, you lose the lower price and if you decide to rebook it, it will be the higher price.

I thought of that, but no way it is better. If something decent pops up I can just book at SF, CB or Aventura for less than my RP was. Definitely going cheap now!
Potentially offsite too!

Thank you

But I'm asking on the Fear Pass why its required. I get why its need for one night of fun, thats a common theme for both events

I'm more asking why its required when you can come back as much as you want

For example for last year, if I wanted to get on FNAF basically I had to line up early or wait 60-90 mins. So when I came back to the park I would decide am I going to wait for FNAF or start with another house and then I got as much done as I could before 9/10 and leave. I know Orlando is different so that's why I'm asking why many feel like its more of a requirement at this park when Hollywood has never offered that option, you either get an add on with express or wait with everyone else.

Less people in express means the regular line moves faster so shall see what kind of difference it makes.

Well, you have to determine the number of FFP w/ Express they lost (some will move to FFPs, buy Express, etc.) and the capacity for one Premium Scream night. Plus, whatever value you associate with improved guest feedback (and whatever compensation they provided for the negative feedback). It may not be as a big a loss (or I assume it’s a net gain for them) as thought.
