This original lineup has me the most excited in years. Each are so different and yet also uncomplicated. Ghosts, demons, dolls, monsters and myths. I feel like they are all so separate from each other in concept and vibe that there is such good variety here. How they are executed of course is most important but until then I’m satisfied.

Smackdown is in Saudi and started 1pm EST. I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeahhhhhh I've lost some hope on that, thought it was a slam dunk. Especially since (spoilers for the match)
Wyatts don't win.

With original week now over I can’t say how amazing these sound. Definitely some of the best originals. I can’t wait!

Artist is the scenic house
Hatchet and Chains is the fun house
Dolls is the creepy/gross smelling house
Grave is the intense scary house
Gálkn is the cool cold house

I think an argument can be made for Gálkn being a scenic house as well

Interesting to see the sentiment that the lack of comedy is disappointing some folks. I personally have felt we’ve leaned too hard into the more light-hearted horror-comedy side of the event. Still fun! I just prefer it in moderation. To each their own. Feels like a potential pivot to a focus more on scares this year. Maybe the positive reception to intensity of Insidious had an impact?

Honestly, same. This'll be my 7th year and personally for me this is a kick-ass sounding original line up! Each one has the potential to be really solid and then some, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Personal opinions warning:

I can get people to jump out at me and shout “boo” at the local haunt and it costs a lot less. Insidious is tied with catacombs at the top of my “most overrated” house list.

I fully understand others feel differently and I hope they are very excited for the event. I’m excited as well, just in a more muted fashion then usual. With the exception of Fallout, Hatchet, and Artist (based solely on the designer’s record), it feels a bit like they set out to develop a house lineup that would appeal to me as little as possible, both originals and (especially) IP.

Really doesn't feel like there are any standout "novelty" original houses this year, especially compared to last year's Slaughter Sinema 2, Goblin's Feast, and Major Sweets. Every idea on the board right now feels like something I would've thought of if they asked me to pitch (maybe not the lava monster part of Hatchet & Chains). Not necessarily a bad thing but it does mean all these houses kinda need to be focused on scares or extremely impressive sets since the environments aren't really unique on their own. Hope that portends a scarier year all-around!

also the characters for some of the houses sound like it could be similar. I hope we get a lot of variety, but on the descriptions alone it sounds like they could be similar demon zombie monsters, or ghouls. Dolls is the one that sounds very different. but the other ones sound similar.
obviously hhn will have some some surprises in store for us. we have to see.

. comedy houses can be fun, sometimes they are better for repeat visits lol. the comedy aspects in yeti were really funny to revisit. it depends on the subject. depends on the humor.

I still think that the comedy house will fully be terrifier. since the movies are so extremely gory, they will probably try to add a lot of humor to balance it out.

Can't sleep, so went ahead and did some analyzing into the construction going on for HRR's replacement and combining it with the rumor that most of the soundstage houses will be entering by Minion Mayhem and splitting off at a hub (not unlike Bloodlines and Goblins), and as utterly chaotic as it seems (along with LOTS of foot traffic in one area), this is the best I could come up with for how it might work:
  • Black - The path to WWE and soundstage house portal hub
  • Orange - WWE
  • Red - Terrifier
  • Green - Grave
  • Purple - FNaF
  • Dark Red - El Artista
  • Yellow - Exit for WWE, FNaF and El Artista
  • Light Green - Exit for Terrifier and Grave of Flesh

As you can see, the normal route for the soundstage houses through Jimmy Fallon and past the library facade are almost completely blocked off now by the construction fence for RRR's replacement, and if they stay this way, the only way past the library facade to SS24 and SS25 would be through a very active back-of-house street, which would be impractical. So what do you do?

El Artista keeps the normal entrance for SS22 in front of the music plaza, WWE (for the most part) retains the normal route for SS23A (Blood Moon/Monstruos), but the other three start at a hub between SS19 and SS20, where the portals will then split off and for two of the houses, exit as well. It'd be an operational nightmare (something Legacy has alluded to seeing this year on Bluesky), but it'd be doable.

1751269563762.png
Now you might realize the proposed routes also go through a back-of-house street, however, as you can also see here, that road can be divided with a fence that will separate lines and where vehicles drive, not unlike how the original parade building worked. Chaos, but doable.

Hope y'all are ready to get some good cardio in this year!

Wow they really should have kept HRRR open through HHN at least lol

I wonder if the construction walls are up in that area currently for some prep work, and maybe they take them down for HHN?

Im with you on this. HHN IMO has leaned WAY too hard to the cute stuff. Lets get back to being 100% scary!

Thanks for doing this analysis. If the hub is where you guess it will be, that will put it about 700 feet from the main thoroughfare. That's a little less distant than the hub for Goblins/Bloodlines was (about 900 feet from Expo blvd) so if it's serving three houses instead of two that shouldn't feel too onerous in terms of 'extra steps per house' overhead.

This is a very odd definition of “cute” and a very limited definition of “scary.”

The only issue with this route (if construction remains the same as now) is that the walkway connecting Despicable Me to BMG has been cut off by construction. Latest Bio aerial shows that construction fencing has completely cut it off.

What I could see happening, is that the hub moves into the SS hallway behind BMG with 4 houses entrances here and the other at the traditional music plaza stage.

All house exits at Fallon restrooms.

I think this makes sense - so this essentially puts the entrance to the “soundstage house hub” near the HRRR entrance at that gate that opens up to the backstage area?

Yes - assuming they aren't touching that part of Rockit until after HHN. Seems like the strategy is to demo the edges of Rockit first, before touching the station & lift-hill/non-inverting sections.

5 houses all exiting out the same place sounds like a bottleneck nightmare.
