I saw gameplay for FNAF first hand & found it to be ridiculously overhyped, boring & stupid. Let alone not even remotely scary or creepy.

The movie was great for what it was, however, any shortcomings it had are a direct result of the game's creator who kept the film in development hell for years

As for the IP itself, it's great. Iconic characters, easy merchandise, very marketable. Needs a TMNT crossover promo due to pizza.

I'm not saying FNAF is an obscure IP that will sell no tickets. I just thought it was ridiculous to assert that it's got a wider reach than Romero's work or something like the Scream franchise.

I mean this with no disrespect to Romero's work and its impact on horror, but I imagine only a small fraction of guests who visit the event are familiar with the Living Dead films. It would not be a significant draw for the event.

It has its fans, no doubt, but I think it's getting blown out of proportion.

I played the first couple games back when they came out and thought they were pretty good, but nothing mindblowing. Just your average jump scare with a more unique setting. I watched the movie and wished I hadn't. Would've liked to see what Chris Columbus could've done with it.

That said the FNAF IP is far, far more of a small niche IP compared to something like Scream, The Conjuring, Romero's Living Dead, The Ring, 13 Ghosts, Sleepaway Camp. Hellraiser, etc. There are a ton of massive, massive properties Universal could pursue that would eclipse FNAF.

Sleep away camp/13 ghosts, come now. Neither of those properties have merchandise, a couple dozen good selling books, have or will open to a 80 mil weekend ( I believe blums highest ever). I only played the game once but let’s call a diamond a diamond. At least at this time of its lifecycle. I enjoy the thought of it, possibly being similar to Killer Klowns. It

Plus FNAF it’s probably a lot easier access than any of those other properties because of the Blumhouse relationship. They ought to give it to universal for free after that horrible (advertisement) er scare zone when they let them have last year.

We all know Sleepaway Camp is the REAL white whale for HHN (lol)

I'm not sure this will have quite the pull that Stranger Things did, but it will be up there.

(and quite honestly, the biggest IP that HHN has had is probably The Weeknd)

13 Ghosts is supposed to be getting a long-overdue limited series on one of the streaming platforms

Also, I can vividly remember back in school when it came out (2001), everyone was talking about how it should be a house at HHN. It's weird to think about speculation "pre-fan forum", but yea. It still remains a "please do it" IP because of it being unique & scary.

They should at least give us the "13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo"

Scream V made $81,641,405 domestically and $137,743,924 worldwide.

Scream VI made $108,391,107 domestically and $166,577,232 worldwide.

FNAF (which came out the same year) made $137,275,620 domestically and $291,493,620 worldwide.

So FNAF basically made domestically what Scream V made worldwide. Both Scream movies combined made only $12,827,536 more than FNAF on its own. Numbers seem to indicate FNAF has the broader appeal. And I’m saying this as a huge Scream fan. It is one of, if not my favorite horror franchise of all time.

I was curious about the wording that it's coming to HHN in a whole new way...but then remembered that Hollywood had some kind of exhibit or something with props from the first movie. Guess the new way part is just saying it's not going to be a bunch of static props so probably just a regular house.

Yay development hell. It's definitely a "I'll believe it when I see it" situation, but still hopeful it happens just for the expanded lore of each ghost

Anyway... still ready for the next house announcement. Or even just a vague announcement like FNAF was. That'd be fine

When this movie came out, I wore my dad's construction goggles around the house for a month just in case I spotted one of the ghosts and needed to sprint away. Think I might pass out if I ever had to go in this house.

ANYWAYS...excited we're in announcement season!

The only thing I know about FNAF is my teenage son was big into it for like 6 months, but now he can care less about it.

Fully recognize I live under a rock, but I've never seen Living Dead, 13 Ghosts, or Hellraiser (only place I've ever even heard of 13 Ghosts has been on this forum). Never heard of Sleepaway Camp. Maybe it's just me, but idk if some of those properties are as massive with the GP as you think (perhaps it's my age though, I have no idea). Or at the very least, not as massive as FNAF.

I didn't care for the movie, and I've never played the games (first game came out around when I started college, so I guess I was a little older than most who played?) but even before the movie, FNAF stuff in the wild was pretty unavoidable. Books, toys, collectibles, etc. Lol I remember nannying for a family in college and the oldest child was OBSESSED. It was a really big thing for him and all his friends at school apparently. And now, he'd be probably about 18 or 19 years old (which makes me feel old)-- not that far off from the age I first started going to HHN.

Heck, I was even gifted a FNAF cookbook for my themed cookbooks collection a couple years ago lol Whether you personally like the property or not, it's huge. There's a lot of money to be made off of it.

My dumb reason for being excited for it is mostly the aesthetic. It's a little liminal space-y, which I love. Mix the creepy nighttime pizza place with what I feel they'd be able to do with lighting, and I'm all for it lol I think it'll be pretty (which I recognize is a weird reason to be excited but lemme have this lol)

sounds like all the killer robots could be screen based and no real puppets lol. technically the game has you looking at screens the whole time,

so it makes sense if you only see a 1 real animatronic at the very very end lol

A tad off topic, but it blows my mind that you haven't heard of 13 Ghosts or Sleepaway Camp.

You need to watch all of those movies lol

While Romero's influence is far greater, I don't think it would move the needle like FNAF would/will.

Scream, though (and Conjuring, for that matter) - Yeah, they're the white whales.

I think the Venn Diagram of people who'd be excited for a Romero house and people who already go to HHN every year no matter the IP houses would be close to a perfect circle. (And yes, I'd personally love a black & white Night of the Living Dead house.)

On the flip side, I've encountered FN@F merch just browsing Target for years now. One of those IPs that has transcended its source material--the IP itself is what's marketed now. Anytime you have something the normies recognize like that, it seems to blow up at the event.

Preview merch is delivered about a week in advance, and the merch they have ISN’T for FNAF.

Go watch them! Dooo ittt..

You NEED to watch 13 Ghosts it's an underrated reimagined remake of the Vincent Price film of the same name. (Also watch 2003's "Ghost Ship", opening kill + kill montage reveal are iconic)

back to speculating about Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Fries
