TBF - It wasn’t “Universal” that leaked it. It was Blumhouse.

I know but there should've been more communication between the two on the schedule so idk. It's pretty funny either way. I know FNAF was definitely not the Thursday announcement so I wonder if that's getting delayed now to whenever FNAF was supposed to be announced or if maybe we get two announcements this week? That would be fun.

Mistakes happen. It wasn’t a communication breakdown because the announcement dates are contracted. That communication is there. Anyone who knows about the agreements will know those dates. Someone on a panel inadvertently said something they shouldn’t have. It happens.

And the schedule for Thursday is expected to remain the same.

Clearly! After all when it comes to the rumored IP's, FNaF is the biggest of the bunch considering how long it's been going on to this day with the sheer number of games, books and movies, several which are coming out in the coming years.

That's highly debatable.

Now, had you said the most despised of the bunch because of the baggage that comes with it, you'd be on more solid ground.

I’m more in this camp. A fitting end to a weekend with rumours of no express or stay and scream .

Come on now. Five Nights at Freddy's is one of the biggest horror IPs the event has yet to capitalize on. You don't have to like it, but that doesn't invalidate its runaway popularity.

FWIW, I’ve been told it wasn’t planned. Sounds like it got inadvertently mentioned during the Blumhouse event which forced Universal to announce.

That’s why nothing is actually prepared for it and it just says “details to come.”

EDIT - There’s still the scheduled announcement prepared for Thursday.

Oh I was totally being facetious.

My jab was at marketing and the fact it's gone away from what it was, so it was like they settled with this.

But I know they wouldn't stoop that low....yet.

It has its fans, no doubt, but I think it's getting blown out of proportion.

I played the first couple games back when they came out and thought they were pretty good, but nothing mindblowing. Just your average jump scare with a more unique setting. I watched the movie and wished I hadn't. Would've liked to see what Chris Columbus could've done with it.

That said the FNAF IP is far, far more of a small niche IP compared to something like Scream, The Conjuring, Romero's Living Dead, The Ring, 13 Ghosts, Sleepaway Camp. Hellraiser, etc. There are a ton of massive, massive properties Universal could pursue that would eclipse FNAF.

Perhaps that's true within the bubble of the more dedicated horror community, but as a whole, FNAF is a much larger IP than any of the properties mentioned above. It has a very large mainstream appeal, and the merchandise for it is vast, and can be found just about everywhere.

I've read a lot of baffling and dumb statements on this website, this one is certainly up there. Tell me you're out of touch and older without actually telling me :skull:

Ok, yeah, im not 16 anymore, but I was firmly in the FNAF target demographic when it came out in 2014.

I'm guessing you're one of the current rabid fans that thought the movie was the best thing you've ever seen, but I promise you once you step outside the FNAF bubble you'll see it's not the pinnacle of horror with a following that overshadows every other franchise out there.

Ah, the annual “IP measuring contest” that doesn’t matter lol

(FYI I’m agnostic as to what is “most relevant” this year)

Oh my lord lmao. Literally not a huge fan of this franchise at all and I didn't love the movie. I'm just not ignorant and understand despite my feelings on this IP that it's very popular and one of the biggest horror franchises (if not THE biggest) we have currently. But sure, if your only argument is accusing me of having shallow taste in horror movies then whatever dude.

As someone who doesn't give a flip about the property, I think you're extremely shortchanging its broad appeal. Is it the biggest IP at HHN ever? Not IMO - but you don't become Blumhouse's highest-grossing film without some pull, especially when it was released simultaneously on Peacock.

As someone who grew up with the FNAF franchise and who did not like the movie, this IP is definitely going to be big. Like Brian said, it isn’t Blumhouse’s highest grossing movie for nothing. Look at the traction HHN’s tweet is getting, it’s clear this IP is going to be popular and reel in a ton of FNAF fans who will want to go to HHN.

I'd agree with that.

I'm not saying FNAF is an obscure IP that will sell no tickets. I just thought it was ridiculous to assert that it's got a wider reach than Romero's work or something like the Scream franchise.

While Romero's influence is far greater, I don't think it would move the needle like FNAF would/will.

Scream, though (and Conjuring, for that matter) - Yeah, they're the white whales.
