I'm definitely not blown away by the rumored IP list, but once again, I'll let myself get hopeful for FNAF lol I never played the games, the movie didn't blow me away, but the concept and aesthetic just feel so perfect for a house that I'd love to see it!
I have no interest in watching Terrifier, so the house doesn't appeal. Not a wrestling girly, so a WWE house doesn't get me excited but I feel it at least probably leaves them room to make it sort of like an original. I've heard amazing things about the Poltergeist house (that was before I started going to HHN), so I'd like to see it, but I don't like the movie at all, so it's really only curiosity about if the house is as good as people say. Never seen or played Fallout, but it's on my list to eventually get around to. Worried, like others have said, that it'll be just another apocalyptic house.

I will say, despite me not being into most of the IPs, I mentioned them to a friend of mine who previously has had no interest in HHN, and the thought of a WWE house had her asking me to keep her posted on if it happens because she would want to go for that. And another friend who has never been said he'd love to come down to see a Fallout house. So these are definitely properties that appeal to the general public. lol I'm just picky apparently

I think this line up brings so much interest from so many different fans. I’m into all except WWE but it doesn’t mean I’m not excited about what they could do with it. With no specific script to follow I trust Universal to do a great job.

As far as Fallout even though I’ve played and loved the games and really liked the series I don’t think it’s your typical post-apocalyptic fare. Good stories, good unique monsters, and love the 50’s vibe. A lot of character. And yes think more bugs than TLOU or Walking Dead.

Wow, ticket release may end up stretching until May.
WTH
edit: Just realize that they are probably gonna pair it with an announcement. Bet is on FNAF or Terrifier.

Yeah, I will say... the rumors so far are definitely hitting a lot of marks.

And in my opinion, they kind of address some of the issues people had with last year’s IP lineup. Last year, the headliners like Ghostbusters, A Quiet Place, and Insidious were pushed as the heavy-hitters, even though they weren’t exactly on the level what HHN fans expect to see especially coming off a year with Stranger Things and The Last of Us. This year, some of the rumored houses feel like much easier sells as true heavy-hitters compared to anything we got last year.

Yes, and except for Ghostbusters I think kind of hard to market, merchandise wise. Although I liked the Quiet Place movies I wouldn’t be interested in merch from it.

Now Art the Clown ( hardcore horror/ slasher fans) , FNAF (especially a decade of tweens now grown up), Fallout (gaming fans, so much could be made and already is) and WWE fans I think will eat up as well.

If you don’t like Terrifier I get it. I didn’t want to see for years and now like it even though 3 was a little rough. Art by himself really makes the movie and is a new Horror Icon we haven’t had in awhile.

Yeah - the merch for this lineup will fly off the shelves. A hole is burning in my pocket just thinking of a Vault Boy HHN shirt.

there is still quite a rich canon of horror films that could be adapted that have never been, and we're sitting here discussing how WWE will be made into a house. I mean....

You’re right, there are. But just because a property isn’t necessarily considered or, doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a unique take. One of my HHN unpopular opinions is that I actually liked Penn and Teller‘s house. But I’m not a huge fan of The Weeknd, his house was intriguing.

I also was at first very hesitant on the WWE idea, but I think it was even in this forum that somebody put in perspective for me. If they did an original take on a wrestling company with horror elements that had nothing to do with WWE, when you share the same sentiment or are you only frustrated they’re using WWE? If I would be okay with an original that has this idea, why wouldn’t I be okay with the exact same idea and just using the WWE umbrella.

Friday the 13th is also coming with this lineup. I think it’s the attempt to satisfy those fans of more classic slashers.

It was on the last spec map and will likely show up on HNNs next one. It’s also on the map HoH posted. I’ve heard the rumor for a while outside of the speculation maps

Which icon did you think was representing Friday the 13th? I haven’t really heard that speculated much since the maps have come out. I saw it was on HOH‘s last spec map, but they don’t have the greatest track record of being accurate. So I took it with a grain of salt. But, if they are right and it does come, then I certainly don’t mind giving them credit.

Is your intuition leaning more towards a single house setting like The Conjuring or could this be a neighborhood-wide/larger area story in the vein of Terrified or When Evil Lurks?

Gut says single property, like a homestead. I could see it potentially being a one stop-light town though.

Admittedly, this thought has crossed my mind. Since the outdoor section does make for an easy back-alley kind of vibe, and out of the rumored IP's, Terrifier is the one that would fit that.

On the Hatchet and Chains theory:

This post, as well as your post about an IP with outdoor scenes, has me wondering about an insane possibility…

Are they possibly doing a “Hatchet” house!?

That would be a “simple reason” for not doing a “Hatchet and Chains” house. And it definitely has notable outdoor scenes.

I can't see any possibility why that would come to HHN - the IP has been dead for years and it wasn't necessarily that popular when it was still relevant.

But maybe we'll get another Kane Hodder slasher property ;)

Oh, it’s definitely a long shot! That’s just what came to mind after those two posts.

But I’d be thrilled if they did do it. I really like the first and fourth films in the series.

It would be fun if there was a Terrifier and a Hatchet house the same year! But I do think it is a major stretch.

A ghost town original seems fun. Could it be a curse of lightning gulch sequel?

I don’t think that’s what it would be at all. I think it’s a “rural possession” house—Farm family accidentally unearths an angry spirit/demon that starts possessing the family to horrible effect.

There’s a slew of indie horror films that are basically that (as well dozens of myths/ghost stories), and it’s a something Universal has never done. I don’t see it as a “ghost” house. I see it as a “possession” house.

I have a theory, speculation, whatever you want to call it, the ghost lightbulb, could it be referencing a ghost light?

A ghost light is an electric light that is left energised on the stage of a theatre when the theatre is unoccupied and would otherwise be completely dark.

So could it be something similar to puppet theatre captive audience?

Seeing as how Puppet Theatre was one of my favorite houses, i'm all for this.

My Grandmother was also an eccentric kook and had a ghost-light at home, so i thought of her when i saw that pop up on spec. Needless to say, i don't think a house based off my Grandma's creepy old house and her superstition with ghosts is gonna be at horror nights this year.
...or is it?
