I’d fix Premium Scream by doing staggered entry. Half capacity for the first three hours then the other half of capacity for the second three hours. Different wristband colors are distributed for each period. Rides and standard F&B are available for all guests throughout but houses and specialty food is only during your assigned period.

And what would the first half of the people do during the second half?

Yes, if the offer includes free food and beverages, then most people are going to try to get their money’s worth regardless if they would otherwise. It is just human nature. Guess the house lines would have been even worse if all the people in the F&B lines were in the house lines instead.

Eat or leave satisfied that they had a great time with low pulsed wait times

I think the main issue is when does that 2nd or 3rd night happen during the event's calendar? Does it take over an existing night or are they able to add a Monday/Tuesday night?

Well, HHN started at the end of August. They could delay the general public opening by a week and still fit in TM previews, Premium Uber Awesome Extreme night, and have the first weekend be the 2nd/3rd special ticket nights and start HHN as normal in the first week or two of September.

Realistically it’s not like there isn’t some wiggle room with how early the event starts. With an opportunity to make even more money by charging a higher price tag it’s not a bad move. They could even squeeze an AP-only preview night if they made the week before official opening Preview Week.

You could also include some kind of tasting pass for 3-5 items as a happy medium between a free-for-all and totally eliminating the benefit.

I like this idea! I’d never pay for such ticket to take advantage of it, but I like it.

I think this might overwhelm TMs at various lines checking who can enter and who can’t, and you’d likely have a bunch of people milling about.

Unless you’re implying they clear out the park of the first half and then allow entry for the second like they do now when switching from daytime ops to HHN?

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong, it was a long weekend without much sleep)

Galkin was cameras up except for one particular object, Artista was pretty open, just a couple rooms that were cameras down, Fallout and Terrifier were the opposite, only a few rooms that were cameras up, Jason was pretty cameras up, except for the one scene that I really wanted to get a picture of! And WWE felt a touch less than 50/50 with even some restrictions in the photos up room (no taking pics of a certain list on paper)

Awesome, thanks!

I'd add to Legacy's idea and "guarantee" (1) access entry to each house with timed entries for each.

Something like choosing your entry time, and then from there a pre-determined schedule of houses. After a certain time, the house queues open up for repeats.

This is all sounding too complicated. Keep it simple. Pricing and capacity.

I managed to hit every house once during premium scream (2x for three of them), Did both shows as well. I skipped all the food booths as all the lines were way too long for me to want to wait. I just wish I had known stay and scream was an option, as well as the panel that happened. Very little information provided ahead of time was disappointing. I did receive a survey afterwards in my email asking about my experience at the event. I feel like if they moved the date towards the middle or end of the run it'll be much more "premium" than the day before opening night.

Agreed. Increase the price and decrease capacity if that's what it takes. Or decrease capacity but add upcharge attractions that wouldn't work during a full capacity event. I think there's a risk of developing a solution that's too clever by half.

Yeah, I am not about to treat a theme park visit like an event. I wouldn't like being pressed for time nor having to schedule anything. Id rather pay for the ability to enjoy everything at my pace and not be under time/schedule restraints.

just makes me wonder why universal oversold that night, someone will just say " more money for uni" but there's gotta be more to it, was it for bigger publicity with influencers and streamers?
was it to have a bigger effect and more buzz?

That's the thing, we don't know if it was over sold or if that was the anticipated crowd level for last year as well. Last year, they still had tickets available even on the night of.

This, I think it's better to say they undersold 2024. Guests went expecting that experience (which was never supposed to be, event likely lost money), only to be greeted with more than triple the crowd.

The last minute reversal on Stay & Scream probably made it worse for everyone who didn't take advantage of that but this was never going to be a repeat of 2024.

and it's probably like people feeling "cheated" or something. people wanted to pay for short lines and an easy going experience, even at a higher price, but people keep saying they wish they just got express on a regular day.
it's like people saw how easy the experience was last year and wanted a repeat, but when the lines were long they felt cheated by the situation. even if uni didn't do anything wrong. even if they didn't oversell or that's how many tickets were available last year.

Premium Scream, to me, always felt like a “soft open” for the event itself. The event has ALWAYS needed a night prior to opening to stress test Operations. Team Member preview has always focused on stressing the houses then, on opening night, everything else would suffer. Universal just saw an opportunity to profit from the additional dress rehearsal. It’s not going anywhere.
